I didn't go away! I was gainfully employed
I was a teetoller by choice for about half a year when I first came to England. It's not so bad.
I can say that the biggest positive about not drinking is that, as a single woman, I was able to take better care of myself, ie, I didn't have a lot of situations with alcohol clouding my judgement.
One negative is that everyone thinks you have a stick up your ass, even if you don't. Which only sucks if you care about other people's opinions, I guess.

I think that's the hardest thing about it. Mainly because it gets annoying having to field all the attempts to seduce you:
"Ah go on, have one", "You're not drinking?" , "Ah don't be a spoilsport!" "Come on, just a shot!", "Boooooooooring!". Or my favourite: "What's wrong with you?"

Yeah that's what bothered me so much - people would not leave me alone. I'm guessing the majority of it was young guys trying to get an attractive girl drunk...
If you don't drink for a long time and then start, people get all shocked.
"You are drinking?!?!?"
*edit* Upon review, that looks really conceited. I meant part of the problem for US not just ME being so damn attractive. I'm not conceited, really, I promise.

Hehe... you are allowed to consider yourself attractive, and let others know you consider yourself attractive. A healthy self-image is vital
And thank you for the compliment.

Well, you know what I meant.
Anyways.
I want to get drunk and smoke mass amounts of menthol cigarrettes. That would be really cool.

The "For the Newbies!" may have become overloaded and given out for a little while. Hmmm... If this place feels empty, maybe I should...
*takes out a bottle of 1960 Chardonnay*
Would anyone desire some nice, clear, alchohol?

Hehe that was fun, Drac...
I'm off the sauce at the moment, but I think I can indulge in some cyber-wine...
*holds out goldfish bowl-sized wineglass*

I actually think they were serious, and just couldn't handle our flames.
Jaeger? As in Jaegermeister? Oooh tingly!
I like good white wine, gin 'n' tonic, or sometimes I get a craving for pints and pints of German or Czech beer. Anything not too sweet. I'm a sour girl.
Oooh and a good Bloody Mary can be delightful.

I like Guinness and Pilsner Urquel. Although lately I've developed a taste for Negro Modelo, a dark ale from Mexico? They make a drink here called a "Black and Tan": half Guinness and half Negro Modelo. Yum!

I'm kinda partial to a White Russian, ever since I saw The Big Lebowski, ha ha. It's pretty smooth.
Or just rum, arrr.
Urquel and Guiness, I like those too. Maybe even Murphy's slightly more than Guinness, actually... And Tiger beer, from Thailand, that's a good one.

Out here if I'm not drinking Guinness I drink Strongbow. It's pretty good.
I love me some White Russians, too, but I have to be careful because they go down so smooth. Mudslides, too.
Anyone ever had a shot called Sex With An Alligator? They have it in the Gulf Coast. It's Jaeger and Apple Sour, I think. It is tasty

A cider girl, eh? I've never tried Strongbow, but I occasionaly drink Bulmers/Magners cider... It's not the best cider, but it the most common draught cider over here.
Ever tried Koppaberg ciders? They have a pear one which is nice for when you want to quench your thirst. There is also the "Mixed Fruit" variety, which tastes like Ribena but is 7% alcohol by volume!
I haven't heard of that cocktail, however. It sounds head-spinningly good, though.

Yep! I never heard of it in Wisconsin, but once I moved to Houston it didn't take long before a friend got me hammered on those. And you are right - they're so tasty that you don't realize how much alcohol you are consuming until ... whammo!

*edit*
Please don't disclose where you go to school, it's just not safe.
Academy ** **** ******
Home to Models, Notorious Lesbians, "AZNs" Supre` Sluts and the undernourished.
Yes, Vomit Diets are all the spew, behind the Blue Stoned Fence of the AMI. Atleast the plants are well fertalised? No thanks to the Gardners who are harboured like fugitives underneath the stairs and grow all sorts of things, smoking them with students on the sly.
Easily mistaken for a brothel, we train our youngens at the very fresh age of 12 and it's not long before they are escorted in style, to & from the school by P Plater "Chaffeur Mouhammed" n his Gemini turned Supra.
Until then, hyperventalate at the presence of the male species.
It's a school where a detention for not "Pulling up your socks" is never concerned with behaviour.
Where the Ashes on Ash Wednesday, are the marlboro cinders of Nuns, the squatters of our school, who distract us with their provocative clothes line, where black bras, and underwear hang in full view for us. Surprised to find a fridge full of VB once, it was understood that the "Blood of Jesus" was a shotie available at Happy Hour in the Convent.
Hmmm...

Sorry for the shocking spelling and grammar, I just copied and pasted the definition.
I may be a slut that goes to a school that is mistaken for a brothel, but I still know how to spell "hyperventilate".
