The idea of a 12 year old not only killing but EATING her own family makes me want to cry. It's so horrible. I mean can anybody on this site actually imagine murdering and eating the flesh of your parents and innocent eight year old brother? What i'm wondering is did the girl have any real reason to hate her parents (not that that makes it ok), like was she seriously abused or something? I get that she was just twelve years old, a child, and under the influence of a very twisted peadophile but she must have known what she was doing was wrong. She crossed a major boundary. Does anybody know how she was punished, or have link to further information about this case?

I agree. Not to sound hippyish or anything but i checked that site out over a year ago and it does have bad vibes. I got a really creepy, bad feeling from it as if something just wasn't right.

I think that girl was very stupid, vampires are only those little fantasy story book characters, they don't exist, never will, and she will made a fool of herself thinking that going on vf and having an obsession with vampires will make her "goth". And she should of never been talking to some old guy in the first place, I would of slapped the hell out of her parents too.

Yeah I remember reading what that Jet guy had wrote, he said that he was 'trying to keep Vampire freaks.com gothic culture and something like that' With half a million people on there, with all the "emo" and lost causes, that site does not even EXPLAIN goth.

If you ask me, when I look at vampire freak's homepage, all I see is links to, "Goth clothes, and Goth music" Never before have a seen an definition, or somewhat meaning of goth on there.

Goth/Gothic= Nothing of that Bullshit that you read in the newspaper, or see on the news. (Or in the media for that fact)

Ok for starters, why all the focus on VF??? I mean lets get a few facts straight. They may have had profiles on VF but they had profiles on a local Canadian based site Nexopia.com before that and talked via that site, yet you rarely hear of it. I wonder why.
The truth of the matter with those two is the relationship had been going on for months and was common knowledge in their town so why didn’t anyone there stop it?? Why was nothing said?? Maybe those who are so quick to point the finger at websites should look to how they turned a blind eye to what was happening around them everyday.
Out of a lot of comments on the site on this topic you have first off said it shouldn’t be talked about on there. My reply is why not. If it concerns the community then it’s fair to talk about it. Secondly you picked the dumb posts to repeat here not the sensible ones.
You think the site is just another myspace but obviously haven’t dug beneath the surface at all. You merely put a profile up then chat. Look deeper and you will find a community that cares and helps others. Not one that just seems to want to rip others for belonging.
The paedophile thing now. Hmmm lets see definition of a paedophile. Child lover, someone who has a sexual preference for pre-pubescent children. Ok so that’s cleared up the fact that no matter how someone uses the word in the press to describe these guys, they are using it wrongly...
Of course there are those that are seeking underage sex. Yep. I’ve studied it and done a lot of checking on the site. Guess what the most prevalent age group is for that behaviour? 18-25.Of course thats leaving out the age group that hits on 13 yr olds the most, that being the 16-18 yr old age group.
Every profile site is going to have problems with those overage hitting on the underage. It’s unavoidable where the two mix. But if you think nothing is being done your wrong. Its only because you don’t see anything said about it. That doesn’t mean nothing is being done.
I see VF as having no more bearing on this case than any other site would have done. It’s like here in my own country. Someone gets stabbed so they set up a knife amnesty and the press and do gooders turn on a firm selling a divers knife. For no other reason than they are selling it after a high profile stabbing case.
So is a retailer to blame for the miss-use of they’re product when it was sold legally to someone with the belief that it would be used for the designed purpose? No. In just the same way a website is not responsible for the actions of its members unless specifically encouraging them in an illegal action. None of which has been done by VF or any other gothic community website that I know off.

I think it's hysterical that people complain about 'emos' on that site. Those kids who turned 'emo' were 'goth' the week before. That site is filled with angsty kids who jump from trend to trend. It was NEVER a goth site. Jet is a complete tool because I have always seen him say that it isn't a 'goth' site. What, is he saying that it is now? HA!

This would have happened reguarless of what site they me through... had it been Myspace, RateMyBody or any other site that they met through it would not make any difference... as pointed out above they also conversed through Nexopia.com.
As for comments about 13 year old idiots etc... not everyone's like that on there... People join VampireFreaks as they feel it is where they fit in so they must class themselves as "goth" or at least part of that community...
So are you also like them? Do you have cannibalistic urges? According to some you must have as you are part of the same community... Stereotypes are good for missleading and missjudging people... I guarantee most people that have posted on this message don't like being stereotyped but are doing the exact same thing...
