Its not the way they play thats goth its there darker lyerics that make them goth. But afi is my favorite band.

umm no im not like like that. And it dosent matter but i didnt know that. Davey Havok and Adam Carson from afi are my idols,(And i dont get any good news durring so any news is good in my world) but its cool to learn about the ppl u look up so much. All my friends think im weared cuz i am decked out in afi patches and i sneak my head buds under my hair so i can listen to them in class when it is impossable to hear cuz all of the stupid kids talking about sex and stuff. Them immature s.o.b's. but when i listen to them i can just for get about the world. For get about every thing.

Alternative opinion :P
I would have to say none of them because AFI is one of the worst bands ever, because their music is unimaginative, their lyrics are so "deep" and "metaphorical" they meaning absolutely nothing, and Davey Havok's voice sounds like a bad imitation of the dude from Journey.
True, they aren't as bad as say.... No Doubt, Courtney Love or Godsmack, but a band so obviously self-aware as AFI should aspire to be more.
This coming from a dude whose last 3 girlfriends have told him he looks like Davey Havok or Ville Valo depending on the day. Of course my current one thinks I look like a male version of Winona Ryder.... :P
Don't flame me back defending AFI. I don't care, and I won't be back here to check for replies. And quit trying to convince yourselves AFI is "gothic" because they dressed up in black one day and wrote a few lyrics you decided to interpret overdramatically. For that matter, quit bickering over whether bands mentioned are or are not "gothic". This close-minded hypocritical overcompartmentalizing bullshit is a waste of everyone's time and EXACTLY what the gothic pursuasion is supposed to be a departure from. *rant over*
