OK, this is more a whimpering whine than a rant, but...
I am irked by Christian raids on Gnet, posting about "the Beast" and "666" etc.
i.e. "glen-397".
Persephone: can you coin a term (instead of locust for goth wannabees) for Christian doomsayers who swoop in without introductions and troll?
Maybe my patience has worn thin because it has been a long week and I am on my meds for the damn arthritis.

My middle-school-age sister is in the middle of a lot of midterms or finals, I can't remember which. Maybe it's that?

I hope so. Maybe that's it.
I keep fretting that maybe she dropped out, because I always critiqued her writing in the Literature thread, usually positive and encouraging, but of course we all know not everything we do is great, so the one time I mentioned that perhaps her writing may not be accepted on the Angst-Zine site, she posted a courteous "thank you" and I haven't heard back since.
I worry that I hurt her feelings.
::mopes some more::
But then, I tend to be a worrier.

HP, when she first started writing Shadow Realm I copied and pasted it into Word so that I could track all the changes I would make. I had pages of comments for her, grammatical errors, and wording/phrasing suggestions. I kept trying to include encouraging comments, but to most people a page that filled with critique would be discouraging.
It took her less than a week after that to write the next installment.
I sincerely doubt she left because of a writing critique. She seems as though she fully understands the importance of constructive criticism, and can take it much better than most people I know.

I am so fracking sick of people announcing, "I have a question."
Some of you may know that I chat online for a living. It has its ups and downs, but one of the most annoying things involved is that announcement.
"I have a question."
You'd think I'd be more annoyed by the pervos who come into my (non-sex-related) chat and ask if I have a hairy pussy. No, that's so rare that I just giggle and brush it off. But every other chat, it seems, starts with that.
It wouldn't be so bad if it were just a preface. You know, "I have a question: Does this car come with a rear entertainment system?" I could handle that. Every time that announcement shows up in my chat, I sit and wait for them to finish typing their question. I assume, as any sensible person would, that they're going to ASK the question they just announced they had. I sit and wait, hoping that the delay just means they're slow at typing. And then, horror of horrors, I get this:
"hello?"
So, let's recap. "I have a question." "hello?"
How is that logical?! I think it's ridiculous to announce that you have a question in the first place, but that notwithstanding, why would someone announce that AND THEN WAIT FOR A RESPONSE? If you have a question, ask it. You're wasting my time and yours with this little "I have a question" game.

[quote=HumanePain]Drugs and alcohol do damage relationships, it is a fact. They cause lies and even end lives prematurely./QUOTE]
My little secret that is NOW not so much my little secret: My mother passed in 85 due to this. I ALMOST did as well back in 89. I lived. I got off the shit. She did not. Pops still drinks but since he is elderly and partially disabled, he lives with my husband and I. He goes to the bar daily on his "hoveround" thing. However, he ain't bringing ANY hard shit into the house. That's it. I am what they call "an adult child of alcoholic parents". In other words, some say I should NOT have been and yeah, I could see their point. Life is a little harder for me then for the "average person" but I keep on keeping on and do my best to be there for others and remember that it is NOT "all about me" because it AIN'T.

Fucking idiots!
I frequent another forum, and another guy (with the IQ of an eggplant) asked me what the hell am I doing in the computer which is a capitalist device and I'm an anarchist?
First of all: Idiocy much?
Second: Has he never heard of Anarcho-capitalism?
And Third: Since when is capitalism a form of government?
I better not use the term laissez-faire around him or his head will explode.

Persephone, AIM me, I may have a job possibility for you in my company (yes, more computer work, but we need someone in South Africa, we're global, and my company is VERY liberal).
HumanePain on AIM. And congratulations on moving out! You'll be fine.
One thing you missed: I AM A GRANDFATHER! Yay! See the Picture Thread for photos of my grandson Dane.

We were wondering where you were! If South Africa won't do you could always come to work as a Sears administrator in Florida. :-D

I decided to leave my last job after I realized I was becoming nauseated everytime I sat at my desk and also, I found myself in tears a few times over the job. Never again.

I just hate the way people think they can talk to other people. I'm young, yes. But i take my job seriously. I'm always on time, I've never been late. Not once. I ALWAYS show. Even when I'm sick. Which is alot better than most people here can say. I pull my weight and i work as hard as the older guys. And my willingness to learn should be enough for them. But it isnt. And THAT upsets me. To be humiliated in front of staff and clients. To be expected to clean up other people's messes hours after they were told to do it. I work long hours (6:15am to 5:00) and they want me to start staying later with no extra pay. I've been here for almost 2 years and NO increase in salary, or leave time, which is only 15 days a year...and you can only take it when they WANT you to take it...

What?????? This sounds like the shittiest job ever. First of all, in America, working overtime without pay is illegal. It wouldn't surprise me if that's the case over there, too. Try and find a job if you can stand it for a little bit longer, but really-- don't ever put up with that mistreatment again. Someone somewhere will treat you like what you are worth.
