I have a question here. Is it wrong to be solitary?
|
Absolutely not. Just because most people rely on constant company with others doesn't mean it's wrong to prefer to be alone.
Niksaa: I can see where you're coming from, but I need to have a theme for a whole project which will encompass a lot of experimental work and eventually over twenty individual final pieces of work. I like the idea you've suggested there but I'd then need to think up 19 other things to go with it. :0

No, but it's wrong to end up in solitary.
So whether you walk alone or with others, be sure to walk on the right side of the law.
And that's about as seriously as anyone should answer that question.

Maybe I am still confused on the whole of the project; but you can play on several versions of this selling of the body. A play on a lottery version of this same theme: several down trodden persons milling about anxiously awaiting the results of something and the 'reveal' would be a blood type or organ match, which causes rejoicing in one of the people.

Why, thank you Ben. After a crappy weekend and a bad couple of days after, that was something I really needed to hear. Thanks!

As I was flicking through the pages of todays Guradian newspaper, when I found the Music & Film section I noticed Andrew Eldritch was in the top corner. Went to page 5 to discover an interesting article on Goth. Anyways I wanted to show you guys so I thought I'd stick it here (I didn't want to make an entirely new thread on it, as it isn't that important)

Hmm. I'm bored so I thought I'd post here. I'm very cold. I'm also very tired. Tomorow I have the joy of doing an essay on why the revolutions in Italy around 1820 failed. My pet dog is watching me as I type, in a rather sinister way 0_0

Where I live, they call it "booty floss". This store up the street from me sells them in flavors...
Yesh...
Well, aside from that--GO JILLIAN!

Why is it that guys will tell you that they like you when you are with them and spend the night but when you tell them that you do not want to have sex with them for a while they totally turn around and say that they aren't interested in you as anything more than a friend?
--------------------------------------------------------
Also when did gothic and punk clothing become mainstream in the US I walked through the mall and in the front of a Claires store there was gothic and punk clothing. Then as I was walking around I saw girls who were preppy as shit wearing gothic clothing and talking about some pop group it made me want to slit their throats.

I got a spiked wristband from Claire's Accessories a few years ago. It was pretty nice quality, but the spikes were screwed on so I lost a couple of them. <_<
It just amuses me when I see "Claire's goths" out and about though because they always look like they're trying to pull off a gothic fashion model look, and it just doesn't work...

You shouldn't buy stuff from Claires.
It's seriously low quality. I brought this lacy crucifix necklace & when I put it on, it snapped. I brought another (because they were cheap) & again it snapped. I went through 2 more before I decided to give up.
Also I brought some 'angel wings' from there, but after a while they don't look so good anymore. I've re-named them the 'pigeon wings'.

Pigeon wings! hahahaha.
Yeah this was when I was about fourteen. You can't catch me standing within 20 metres of a Claire's Accessories these days. XD

Normally I'll have a look, but I never actually waste money in there. I used to buy rings in there too, but they make your fingers green. Also you can be certain that anything you buy has been pawed with by several people. Someone brought me a little pot of lipgloss from there & there were finger prints all in the gloss. Eewww...

Sounds lovely.
That spiked wristband was the only thing I've bought from there I think... I normally got that kind of stuff from these three gothic shops in the west end of Glasgow, but they've all moved into the centre of the city now and they're no good any more since they cater mainly to posers now.

I've only brought one thing from my 'local goth shop'. The guy who runs it over prices everything. As I've said before when I went to Glasgow back in July I found a dress in a goth shop for about 20 pounds. On the internet it was 40. Down here it's about 70. But sometimes you can find soemthing good in the place you least expected. I found my Virgin Mary necklace in a rather mainstream shop for about 2 pounds. I also brought a black velvet choker with a skull on in H&M for about 4 pounds ^_^ very good buys indeed.

H and M is my favorite store....the one on 5th ave new york is the best! they have something for everyone and they are pretty well priced...you can make tons of outfits from a few pieces from there.
nobody mentioned hot topic...i laugh seeing the "goth" kids walk in there with their parents...but now my daughter wants to go there too! what happened to the days when we made our own jewelry out of safety pins and our own outfits...20 years ago when doc martens were cool we had to drive to Washington DC to be able to find them...now (even i have, ugh) you can get them for pennies on ebay...

We don't have Hot Topic in the UK. I suppose that's a good thing. But Doc Martens are still cool! I wear mine to death along with my New Rocks.

(double post, oops)
Yah, we don't have Hot Topic, but we do have some similar places in the centre of Glasgow. Isis and Osiris have turned into poser shops full of crap clothes, and they're on a street that's *always* got dozens of 12 - 16 yr old "goths" wandering up and down it. I like Hellfire though, they've got two branches in the city centre, and they're usually pretty empty because they're too scary for the wannabe gothlings' casual browsing. XD That's where I got my trenchcoat and my New Rocks. They're quite expensive but the staff are good, the clothes are proper quality, and they sell a lot of stuff that you'd usually only get online.
There's also another pretty good independent shop just outside the city centre that sells custom made corsets, jackets, dresses, etc. Their window display is extremely impressive; they make wedding clothes for men and women, and the designs are very dark, gothic, Victorian and slightly vampire-ish. I've rarely seen people coming or going from that shop because it doesn't really cater to the would-be gothlings who you mostly see.

I liked it in Osiris! I brought my pvc bodice form there & was quite pleased because I considered it a bargain. I think I went to Hellfire too. I'm not sure because me & my friend spent a few minutes in a particular shop, but it was too packed to get around, so we left. Oh & the fact I really needed the toilet.
*sigh* 'Twas a good day in Glasgow. If I lived further up North I'd plan to go to Scotland again. It was really nice up there.
