I remember I got in trouble for wearing a black trenchcoat because it was "gang related". But the assistant principal who busted me wore a brown one a few days later.

My school is okay with pretty much everything. as long as girls dont have thongs and bras showing and you cant see guys boxers. We can wear makeup, guys and girls can, and we can pretty much wear whatever goth-style clothes we want, lol. The only thing anyone ever got in trouble for was a senior wore a shirt with a pentagram on it and a teacher didnt like it, but he fought it and he was allowed to wear it after all.

In My old school (which was a middle school), pretty much all the teacher had a problem with the way i looked, my head teacher accused me of not washing because i didnt know i had eyeliner on still from the day before and my DT teacher accused me of not being a man for wearing black nail varnish and black eyeliner. I got excluded for dying red streaks in my hair. Me and my girlfriend wore Metallica and Cradle Of Filth hoodies to school usually and we had them confiscated when the chavs got to wear their lonsdale stuff...Our uniform was a green jumper, a white shirt and a green and yellow striped tie and black trousers (pukes). Shoes- I got sent to internal exclusion a few times for wearing black skate shoes. My head teacher broke them by tying them up really tight because the tongue was too big and they could come off too easily apparently. I have quite long hair and they never said anything about that though...one kid got dreadlocks, and didnt get told off, surprisingly, maybe i would have because they really didn't like me. At my new school we have blue polo shirts and blue jumpers with the usual trousers, we have to wear leather school shoes, I wear my Dr Martens, occasionally black skate shoes but i get told off for that. Piercings, we cant have any facial piercings but we can have 2 ear piercings but everyone gets away with more. I used to cut myself and have scard on my wrists, I had to tell my head teacher why i was wearing wristbands and he let me off. I got a CoF hoody confiscated for some reason though...it was raining and freezing but they still took it off me, so i froze for the rest of the day, probably because it's not a 'coat', chavs get away with their 'lightly colored, non threatening, satan woshipping' hoodies, which is stupid. Anyway, I'll finish my rant there.

yes. plenty of times. but we ignor them the way they ignor us.

no studded belts, no fish nets no chains no spikes.
The main one there trying to ban is dread locks. which i believe is discrimination.....

but i wear what i feel comfortable in to school and if that consist of my chain wallet and chain studded belt so be it.

I think its dumb to ban clothing just because they dont like the style. They arnt allowed to do that and I would fight it. as long as it doesnt hurt other people, then there isnt a problem.

I get crap all of the time from students as well as security about my stuff. Sometimes I come back with witty comments ,though like this.

Some jerk in the Lunch room: Hey, have you guys been to the zoo lately? Theres alot of peacocks around *points to me and my deathhawk*

Me: Yes, I have been to the zoo lately, though what I didn't get to see was the social robot asshole exibit.

He just turned away from me after that. It was great.

Down at my school, last year they specifically prohibited my wearing black.
This year we're using uniforms. But through this Homecoming week, we can dress different styles, and I have worn mostly black these days.
I would have hoped they would tell me something, but it seems even the administration has grown fond of me. I'll miss this week when it's over.

Thats terrible, though. Telling you that you can't wear black. My school is very leanient with that. I didn't even get in trouble for my leather jacket saying "Sex Gang Children" really big on the back.

Well, yah, but I'm on a very conservative school. I've gotten in trouble for several things that go from "wearing things that represent death" to proposing a Humanist Club to "trying to distance my fellow classmates from the words of Christ."
But Gawd! how I love pushing boundaries.

My school is quite lenient on casual clothes day (and other things as well), but then again I haven't pushed many boundaries....

Is it just me or are Anglican Christian schools more lenient than Catholic Christian schools?

Jillian, are you a Satanist in a conservative Christian School? How did that happen?
That's like Michael Jackson in prison..Michael, the other white meat. I agree that Catholic are stricter regarding rules but not as strict as they were back then, I'd probably be whipped to death.

I was a satanist before entering that school in my sophomore year.
Previous to that I went to school in Mexico, but I wanted to go to school in America for high school because of the SATs and ACTs and colleges care more about the high school grades than anything else, and they told me school is easier in America, so I'd get easy A grades.
My parents only allowed me to study in America if I went to a private school. The choices were down to a Christian school or a Catholic male school.
And that's the story of my ironic situation.

Smart choice, the Christian school is definitely better than an all-Catholic male school. I heard that the priests in the South like to give more than just the sacraments..

It must be interesting being a satanist in proximity of the "Bible Belt", I guess you must be a Splinter Cell: Double Agent!
Do you even get to express your viewpoints?

Haha! I like the way you talk.
I do get to say some of my oppinions. On a class called Apologetics, we are supposed to study how to defend the Christian faith, and as so, if there's an argument against Christianity that we have, we have to voice it.
So: yay!

I go to a Catholic school (WHY?????) so uniforms must be worn, I still am the token "goth" at school.
One of the reasons is because I have "black hair.
A) My hair is dark brown.
B) That is fantasically stupid.

In my school it's like a ban against everything. You have to wear uniforms (dark green..). You're not allowed 'un-natural colour' in your hair, etched patterns in your hair (I wouldn't want that anyway xD), any make up whatsover, any jewellery whatsoever. Everyone just puts it on anyway, stuff the rules. They're made to be broken.

Well, I guess if they're that strict to everyone, though, they're not directly discriminating against goths, right?

I guess I was lucky that my school colours were red, black & white. For that matter they aren't even that fussed on uniform. Just as long as you don't turn up in a bikini...

Hello there albertfish_massacre. It would be great if you would go to the introduction thread, look in the very first post and get the questions, and start a thread in the introduction forum to tell us a little about yourself. It's kind of a rule here. Be warned if you don't take heed of this you will get flamed.

The closest my school (way back when I was still actually in school) came to banning goth was trying the ban Marilyn Manson shirts and paraphenalia. As far as the faculty was concerned, MM = goth, and goth = MM.

Of course, they made a completely idiotic mistake... They said that they were banning MM stuff because "he represents Satan."

After they heard "Marilyn Manson," "seperation of church and state," and, most importantly, "lawsuit" all in one sentence, they dropped the issue.

I go to an alternative school, so we don't really have alot of rules =]...but when I was in middle school, (or maybe I was a freshman..) we weren't allowed to dye our hair certain colors. At my friends school you can't have more than 2 piercings and they have to be in your ears. That's at a catholic school though if I remember correctly.

My school's real nice about things like this. Even though I attend a school in the dead center of the Norwegian Bible Belt, I have never been ridiculed or corrected for the way I dress. That said, I must add that I usually don a corp-goth-style when I'm at school. Too much stress to look club-worty every day.

The only incident I can ever recall was with the single other goth in my school. She was kindly told that it is not appropriate to some to school with a micro mini dress with a torn skirt, and that it was even less appropriate to don a floor length PVC gown with rather revealing rips down the front. That had to do with common decency and not being a goth.

As for religion, I'm a wiccan, and my teachers know I am. Actually, in Religious Studies, my teacher pulled me aside and asked if I felt comfortable working with the Bible, and if I wanted to give a talk about my religion, it would be greatly appreciated. I think they find me more facinating than disturbing... Either way, I give respect and I get respect.

Edited because of poor spelling
