Let me put it this way.
Say you go to a coffee shop. A lot. Everday in fact. You know everyone there and you're friends with the people that work there and hang out for hours on end.
Then one day, the old owner anounces that he's sold the coffee shop to Starbucks and it's going to be closed for renovations. Starbucks makes an announcement that they are going to try and maintain the original feel of the coffeeshop, with the old styles and do things the way everyone knows and loves.
A few months go buy and they reopen. You come back as well as all the people who hung out there. The people who worked the counter before work it now, and everything seems fine. Just a new coat of paint and windows.
As the days pass, you start to notice a lot of things arn't what they seem. You notice that the barristas are working a lot harder to keep the place clean because the owners have fired the cleaning crew. You also notice that there are a lot more rules about. Like how you're no longer able to change your coffee order once the clerk pressed total and you're not able to speak as freely with your fellow patrons for fear that the new security guard at the door will boot you out.
Then you notice the walls are being covered with pornographic pictures for the porn stores the owners also own. People are upset about it because even though talking about sex is not entirely random, you feel like it's now being shoved down your throat.
A few months down the line, you take a look around and notice there are a lot of new people around. These new people are rude to the old people, rude to the people that work there and basically disrespect the place. They cuss, scream, rant, rave, but into conversations, dance on the tables, graffitti the walls and piss in the corner. The regulars are really upset about this, and they complain to the owners, but the owners don't really do anything to the person until it becomes a legal matter. They tell you they don't really care that you don't like so and so, they're not going to be booted from the place, but if you keep complaing about the place, they'll boot you out post haste.
A lot of your friends at this point have decided to stop coming. They've found better places to get coffee and hang out, or they're trying to start their own coffee shop.
You notice more and more of the wall and window space and tables are covered with flyers about things that have nothing to do with the coffee shop. You feel annoyed that you can't look anywhere without seeing these flyers and feeling pressured to read them, check them out.
You're so fed up with how the new owners are running the place. They've broken promises to value you and the other regulars. The only reason you hang out anymore is because SOME of the new customers are cool, and you're still hoping that maybe the owners will have a change of heart and turn things back around.
And now you're waiting and waiting, trying so hard to ignore the idiots and maintain an intelligent conversation with your friends while trying not to get your ass kicked out for complaining.

Beautiful analogy! *huggles Geisha* Well, ok, the subject matter wasn't anything fun, :P, but that was amazing.

I could see them yesterday...

Well, this is the first time that I have logged onto Gnet in a long time.
The place has really gone to hell. I managed to wade through the fist couple threads and then...
eh, fuck it.
I'm gone. Fuck this ill-managed place.
All my love to those who deserve it.
To everyone else, read the sig and fuck you!

What tenet said...
I haven't been here in a long time either. Partly because I've been busy, partly because the amount of crap that's been allowed to litter the boards for so long, and it inspires nothing but apathy and misanthropy in me. That's not why I started hanging out here in the first place.
Lots of love and good luck to the good people that continue to slog it out here, you know who you are. The elders here know how to contact me, and those of you that don't and feel it prudent, send me a PM and I'll check in later.

I have decided to leave the board today. Screwing with VF fans is fun but it is a bit tedious having to deal with morons and idiots at every turn. I am not talking about the board regulars because they are a swell bunch of people.
I predict that this board is going to be infested with angsty teens and people who can't spell within a month. It will be just another place for kids to bitch about their parents. I don't want to be a part of that.
On a final note I would like to say that I think the owners of this site are total wankers who are out to make a buck from the very name of this site. The two of you are immature, spineless twats who think you have more talent than you actually have. This whole dramafest is going to end up biting you in the ass.
Those of you who matter know where to find me.

I'm leaving too. I already referenced this in my intro thread, so feel free to read all about it. But I wanted to say...
1. I miss all the colorful persons who were banned without cause and seemingly obliterated from existance.
2. Farewell to all of those who don't make it to my intro thread. Unless things turn around drastically by Friday, I'll be taking the Mad Poet's Tea Party elsewhere.
I won't rule out a return, but this isn't what I thought it was going to be.

Dammit. This forum has gone from a messageboard to an obituary page.
I'll still be here. It's not like I have anything better to do.
If you're leaving, please contact me at kieran_lyons @ ************ (minus the spaces, of course).

An obituary...how gothic indeed! There's irony in that somewhere...
Will miss you Dark Bohemian ... a hell of a nickname, I'm jealous. But I tell people that I am The Other Dark Bohemian, out of respect.

Yep, that is true. I would think that, along with a lot of the other management moves that have been executed here lately, this would raise a lot of hard questions for anyone who cares about this site.
