Oh god these things are creepy....I wasnt shure where I should post this but i want to see what other people think of them. According to the genpets website under "meet the genpets" Genpets are alive, LIVING geneticly engineered animal things being treated like Furbys. I dont know if they have any intelligence at all but this just seems wrong....

They might not be real, say somthing if you know anything about them..

It's a hoax. I knew it when I read

You can inject DNA all you want, but you will never (as far as I know) create a living hybrid... plus the link with humans, rabbits, chimpanzees, spiders, sheep VS Genpets is beyond me...

It's fake, but I very good one, I must admit...!

It could be possible though. It says they inject it into the zygote of an animal (thats a fertilized egg cell for those that dont know), not a fully developed animal. A zygote is before cell division even begins. So it probably could ummm... take in any DNA you put into it. They would have come out with some horribly mutated things and some that didnt even live before they got it right but it sounds possible....

The links seem authentic, although they do not entirely support the website, and I've yet to actually read any that said that implanted genes could alter a creatures physical characteristics that drastically. The article which was linked to as "glowing monkey" said quite clearly that there were no indications the jellyfish gene was active and that the monkey's appearance and physiology were not different from any other of it's parent species.

I'd be disgusted if this were some kind of sea-monkeys" scam. While I wouldn't call myself an animal activist. I think that using an animal in an inhumane way is horrific. Having worked at a fairly clean respectable pet store, the conditions in which I was unhappy about. I can only gues that conditions in "puppy-mills" and the like are horrific.

This website is very disturbing and ultimately sad, because it preys on people's "convienience" factor and really these things are (if they are real, I'm not terribly convinced) just another thing that will be forgotten in a cage at some time or another.

They aren't real. I spotted a pic of one partially assembled on some website or another. They are mechanical. Very elaborate, and very fake.
