Sorry, that is lame. You pay $5 per entry and the most you can win is $40. It isn't a contest as much as a money making scam.
(Plus, the thing about having to be a member just pissed me off. (Sometimes, maybe you won't get paid for your art, but there is no reason, period, to pay someone else to read it. (Except, in the case of getting an writing coach/editor, proof reader to look it over and give some ideas to make it better (and you really don't think your friends or family are competent).)))

. . . (or thieves/ plagiarists. (That sometimes happens, where maybe someone close to you just wants everyone to think they are a writer too, so they just put their name on your paper. (People at universities are all over the news ripping off their homework on the net. New copyright software searches known literature to see if it is another name. (Often it is) That is why you should always register or upload your writing on to a copyrighted web server like Yahoo.)))

I don't like poetry online contests. I once entered a poem of mine to www.poetry.com
It did win a place in a poetry book, but they don't stop sending me emails about getting my poem framed and being able to join a "poet's society" for some $100 or so.
Even if the society is real, I don't like the idea of being part of it only if I can afford it.

Yeah, I got "in the book" too, even my girlfriend got in as well. To be honest I think about half the people who enetered "got in". They'll probably only put in the entrants who payed for the book. Did you get crap about a convention in Las Vegas?
