This is certainly true. You notice light before shadow.
I wear all white (Primarily a Victorian dress and parasol) occasionally, and adore the look. White can be worn well, especially when one is alone and ignores the people around them.

I think there are lots of goths that actually do wear white... Not as many that wear black, but I've seen it happen. Personaly, depends on my mood...

I used to go to a (wannabe) goth club in my uni days, dressed all in white. The club was fitted with UV lamps so my entire being glowed, always made me laugh, maybe slightly egotistical in hindsight. But fun.

I've worn all white before. A lot of times actually.
In fact, I'm really wanting to one day bleach my hair out to white, get light blue contacts and just constantly dress in all white.
But my hair's over 32 inches long and is to expensive to get bleached from dyed black to white. :C

although black has often been portrayed as goth, i think that white would be a beautiful contrast, you would sort of rebel against the norm of goth- and still be a true goth.

I would have to say that all white would be a very different idea. I would that on the right person it would look very beautiful. It would almost be creepier than all black. I like the idea though.

White Gothic
I've been doing this. We have a tradition of wearing goth style white clothing. since hot topic made the norm too normal. It started with an awesome pair of 16 hole white docs that screamed for a night out in the blacklight. White is very associated with mortality. Winding sheet, ghost, moonlight-esque. Go for it!

ive seen some people wearing all white and they look amazing,but it only works if u have some strong coulours to accent it with,like bright purple hair and matching lipstick.

If I could find enough clothes in the color, I'd rather dress in tea-stained white than all black clothes. I like black, don't get me wrong, but I've always had more of a thing for lacy, frilly tea-stained victorianesque clothing.
