What's it like being a Grandpa? I can't imagine it because my children are so small, but I hear it's even more special.

I'm enjoying the various personalities on the boards, the more I read through the posts here. Thank you for welcoming me back, those who have. For those I haven't yet "met" - I look forward to trading words... well, with most of you, anyway.

It is such an endorphin rush! Multiple experiences simultaneously:
1) Every problem, every ache and pain, every stress completely disappears when you are holding your grandchild! He is a little pain killer he is! Yes he is, isn't he? Grandpa's wittle anesthetic huh? koochi-koochie....oh sorry.
2) Transitional: I went to sit down next to my daughter when she was in the hospital one day (she was there 3 days), and she told me "Dad, get off of there, I want him there!" pointing to her hubby. In other words, I was now the third priority man in her life, behind baby and hubby. THAT took a little getting used to, but it is the natural course of events and that is the way it should be. My daughter has her own little family now.
3) Realignment: for example, the topic came up in a family discussion that he would be of age to perhaps enjoy Halloween when the time comes (7 months old). So I said I will dress him up like a bat, his second cousin said a clown, and a huge debate arose over what the poor child would be for Halloween.
Then I noticed his dad (my son-in-law) looking at all of us helplessly. I hushed everyone and said "but ultimately it is Dane's MOM and DAD who will decide!".
Don't get me started or I will never get to sleep!

Hi! I saw you commented on my intro. I just caught it today, but I'm glad I'm getting the chance to acknowledge you and be sure you'll see it.

Thanx. You're the Jersey girl who lives in Florida now, correct?
Jersey is my old, stomping ground. Florida is where I want to live someday.
Anyway, thank you for saying "hi".
As for you, Humane - your grandchild is absolutely lucky to have someone as wonderful as you for a Grandpa.

That was thoughtful of you. What a good father-in-law. I am going to make myself get off of here at 2 if not before then. (Eek)

Really? Where in Jersey? Florida is....OK. We have nice winter weather. I think lots of people from the tri-state area dream of living in Florida. I know I did.

You just made me homesick. I now have sour grapes about Jersey and say it sucks because I know I'm never going back. I got here in 2004, and did nothing but obsess for the first year and a half on how to get back there. I went back for vacation and was like, man, people here are rude, it's cold, dark, boring, blah blah blah.....
Truth be told, I still get that cozy feeling when I think of it every now and then. I'm from Middlesex County/Princeton area. It's just too expensive and no one else in my family wants to go back. Oh well.

The best paella I ever ate was in Paramus NJ. There is also a Portugese restaurant just outside Paramus (even though paella is Spanish) that served great Paella although I can't remember the name of the place.

Using nunchaku is harder than it looks. And it really hurts when you hit yourself in the back of the knee with them.

I was lay in bed last night and was pondering, like you do. I normally ponder the ridiculous, like what kind of underwear Darth Vader might wear or what my husband might look like in a cassock...anyway...I started thinking about my family and but more specifically all the dead ones, I didn't realise i was thinking about the dead ones at first but then it dawned on me that i was. Then i thought, SHIT, why am i thinking about loads of dead people?? Then i convinced myself that i was going to die...but I didn't, obviously.
The End.

CLV - that story father reminds me of the really bad nightmares that I've been having recently, in which my immediate family all end up dead in a terrible car accident. I've been having this same nightmare for nearly a week. At first I was so so scared because I was totally convinced that they were going to die. But, thankfully, they haven't yet, though the dream still bothers me.

I love jelly babies. And biting the heads off them. I also like gummy bears but for some reason I'm more reluctant to bite off their heads... I'm not sure why.
On another note, my phone isn't working and it's upsetting me greatly. I've just spent the last hour and 15 mins trying to fix it. How irritating.

He's wonderful! But I'm back home now and we're not going to be able to see each other for awhile But after that, I'm sinking my hooks into his adored flesh irreversably. I've never been in love before, but I think I finally understand what all the fuss is about. Here's some more pics of us.

It's so great being with someone that not only doesn't mind that my gothyness attracts the stares of children, but attracts some stares himself. And to not have to talk down to someone. Or monitor my creepy sense of humor so as not to tramatize, ect., ect.
Mir, try finding someone on here. It SO works!
