yeah, i'm a noob, make fun of me, go ahead. i dont care. but i got this site out of a book called the goth bible. i'm not the best dressed goth, or the most morbid. but i am pretty nice. i just want to ask for one thing. help me pick out a new sn. the sn i have currently is a joke that me and my friends make in middle school. when we had "vampire" names. mine's too stupid to tell. but i know a lot of you are nice, and to those of you that are, i'd really appeciate some help.

new sn? Hate it when stuff cut into two letters like that.
Who cares how "well dressed" you are just have fun and you don't have to be really morbid. Just aim at being yourself.

We're all rather pleased about that as well.
Tell me; are you only part of the way through building your keyboard? Are the shift keys missing?
That's Ikea for you, I suppose. You always end up without the one thing you really need and you're left wondering if the entire thing'll fall apart because you don't have that one screw.

What you could do is make your new screen name music related. You could incorporate a song you like or an album name. "Haunted House", my username here, is actually a sampling song done by Alien Sex Fiend, but I'm also interested in paranormal investigating so I figured "Hey, that works."

You're very welcome. I don't see a need to be hostile towards someone because they're new.

Look here: https://www.gothic.net/boards/showthread.php?t=889
In that thread people discussed their screen names, perhaps you can get some ideas there.
And please keep using your shift key. Proper spelling, grammar and punctuation are appreciated here, as are using the full words and full sentences.

Sorry. I've been in a lot of chatrooms where they don't care about caps. Thanks again. But I don't think many goths accept Dreen Day as a band...lol.

Hi there!
As far as a new screen name goes, have you looked at http://www.necroticobsession.com/gothname.html ? It might not give you a wowwy fabby name, but it may give you a few ideas to spark off.
Welcome, by the way!

I'm New As Well And I Know How You Feel. And Actually, I'd Accept Green Day As A Band. It's Not Like They (we) Are Going To Make Fun Of You Because You're New Because I Haven't Been Made Fun Of.....yet Anyway. As Far As A Screen Name Goes, I Also Think You Should Associate It With Something You Like. I Didn't Exactly, But I Hadn't Thought Of It.

Yes well... hmmm... be nice...
Okay, this site most members of the site focus on the literary, specifically books (or in my case, sometimes comics such as Sandman or Hellblazer). Poetry is also discussed as well quite a bit.
Thus it is a good idea that people who come on here at least have enough English skills to use punctuation, capitilization and spell words not in Netspeak but in plain language. No, there is no grammar test you have to pass to be allowed here, but expect criticism as most of the users here are interested in literature and the use of proper grammar.
So, after 20 or so years of being on the Internet, I recognized your abbreviation of Netspeak of "sn" for screen name, but when using such terms instead of proper English, expect the worst.
We do allow for people of other countries who aren't fluent in English to make plenty of mistakes, but personally I find it dissapointing that some of today's youth can't be bothered to form complete sentences and recognize when to start a new paragraph when a transition of focus is in need.
If you ever attempt to find a job once you get out of college and you write progress reports for your boss that they can barely read, expect to be laughed out of your job as well.

I realize that. I only worry about my grammar and things like that when I write or when I fill out a job application. I guess I've been in too many chatrooms to remember that some places are strict on English skills. I'm trying, making an effort...

If you try, then no one will blame you. But really do so ^^

The main reason people here get agitated when people don't use correct grammer and/or spelling is because, to put it simply, they cannot understand it. I know that most chatrooms these days don't require correct grammar, but then again, most chatrooms don't require underwear either, but are you going to go without it just because of that? The fact is that most of the chatroom populace today is comprised of bumbling, immature idiots who 733t-speak because they think it makes them so kewl. Anyway, it's just common courtesy to type legibly. I've literally had to type "Could you please type that again?" before with certain people. We won't burn you at the stake for casual typos and such, so don't worry about that.

I'm learning oh-so quickly...and I honestly don't talk like that in chatrooms, none of that symbol crap. My un-goth friends talk that way, but I find it very annoying, as do many of the members on this forum. If I really feel like it, I am able to talk like an adult. Not just a stupid teen that doesn't know what they're talking about. ((no offense to anyone))

Hello, if you read the For Newbies thread you would know that you are the Gothest of the Goth.
If you stop worrying about your Gothiness and keep up the grammar you'll fit in fine here.
Welcome.

Very difficult when you're not using a physical voice. I've said it before - or somebody has.... that we should colours for inflections and tones of voice. It would make life easier and prevent a lot of these misunderstandings.
Anyway, how's it going, Abused, you epitome of bad-bad?

Yeah I do understand sarcasm, you obviously do not. I was being sarcastic, you half-wit.
No wonder your screen name is abused and confused.
