Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Hiya,
Click on the link I`ve left you, and you can watch a clip of Theatres Des Vampires live, when Redemption filmed them live last year !!!
I have `The Blackened collection` too, and its absolutley brilliant, what do you think of the other version of `Dances with Satan` ?

I liked the remix as opposed to the original, as it was just a lot more upbeat. I also liked the original version of 'Enthrone The Dark Angel' (i think that's what it's called). It's so creepy with the little kids singing in it!

She_Is_My_Sin, you rock !!!
I prefer the Remix too, its much better than the original, as you say its much more upbeat !!!. The children singing on 'Enthrone The Dark Angel' is really cool in creating that creepy atmosphere, especially with those spooky keyboards coming in during that part !!!.

My vote goes to Siouxsie Sioux. Lisa Gerrard has a wonderful voice. Another whos name escapes me fronted a Northern California band called Death ride 69. I saw them at a club called Helter Skelter in L.A. back in the late 80s early 90s Mind goes a little blank as to exact dates.

Though they're not Gothic at all (Punk to be more like it) try Blondie, Deborah Harry is one of my favorite singers of all time. ;P

^ huh? If you're new, an intro in the introduction thread would be lovely.
Well, as long as it's up I'll post in this thread. I've had a few listens of a majority of the new Evanescence album, I must say there are some gorgeous songs on it (with the exception of 'Call Me When You're Sober', that's just crappy). Their sound has altered a bit, but the lyrics aren't as 'darker' as promised. If anything they're still abit self absorbed, though musically, it's lovely.
& I hope for my sake she's put a bit of practise into singing live, because my friend has invited me to their Novemeber concert. I've seen them live before & she just couldn't hack it. It actually dissapointed me a bit.
I thought I have a mention of Kate Bush here while I'm at it too. Any Within Temptation fan MUST check her out. Seriously, if you ignore the lyrics to 'Cloudbusting' & just listen to the introduction, you can probably imagine W.T doing a spectacular cover of it. Her ballads are also pretty awesome.
Sorry I'm a bit of a Kate enthusiast!

The woman from Xmal Deutschland (Anja Huwe, I think that's her name...) has always struck me to sound just like a German version of Siouxsie, and the world could never have too many Siouxsies.
Jesse Eva of the Vanishing also gets my vote as an amazing singer, as well as Miss Kel from Black Ice.

P.s. Cicero, every time I read your name I get 'Arms of Cicero' stuck in my head. Hahaha.

Excellent! If I had my way 'Arms of Cicero' would be stuck in my own head 24 hours a day.
And how on earth could I forget Gitane?! As well as Dinah Cancer (right after posting in the 45 Grave thread, no less).

The chick from Eurythmics is Annie Lennox.
You must check out 'Love Song For A Vampire' by her. It's one of my favourite songs.

I was suprised to see no one mentioned Martian Hornbacher from Therion. U guys should listen to her on Vovin 1998. Can't stand Evanescence in her new song, she's a whiner man.

She's amazingly crap live. But I don't mind the new album. Well a few tracks from it.
I do have a Kate Bush recomnedation. 'Breathing'. It's one of those tracks that can bring me to tears. Oh & I just think the content of nuclear bombs included into it is rather interesting.

Tarja changed. She got too bossy. The thing that annoys me about all the hype after Tarja was given le boot was that Tuomas was getting harassed & she got all the sympathy. Yeah, sure she was the voice & face of the band, but she wasn't the backbone. Had Tuomas been the one kicked out, Nightwish would be well & truely dead. It was disgusting the amount of death threats "fans" sent Tuomas. Poor guy.
But I think it was all for the best. She didn't have her heart in it after 'Once'. I think they'll be progressing on to better things. Don't get me wrong, I do love Nightwish but sometimes change is best.
& yes Lacuna Coil have Cristina Scabbia as their front woman. Personally with them you should stick to the pre- Comalies material. Well except for the track 'Virtual Environment'. I've never heard bagpipes sound so soulful! Now why wasn't that put on Karmacode?!
Sheesh I'm too passionate sometimes....

KoRn uses bagpipes, too....
But yes, i agree: Tarja DID change...and maybe we'll see that change is good. and as sad as i am to see her gone, i'll keep listening to Nightwish...many bands replace lead singers, and keep going...
this brings up the age-old arguement: if the lead singer leaves, can they still call themselves the same band?
in some cases (see Nirvana) the answer is no...
and in others (see AC/DC and Van Halen) the answer is yes...and no...
hmmm...
