Yee Haw and howdy, ya'll...
Heheh, Texas joke. Anyway, I've spent the past few days trying to coming up with something witty for my introduction, but I've never been very good at talking about myself for extended periods of time. So, that being the case, bring on the list:
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
Well, for a hobby I draw, and hopefully one day it'll be my job. For now, I'd rather not say what my job is... we'll just say it sucks, but pays well enough.
2. Where are you from?
Austin, Texas; where no one really say Yee Haw.
3. Who is your favorite author?
I've never really stopped to think about what my favorite anything is. At the rate life comes at me, it could be whatever I'm currently reading/listening to/ watching, Or whatever I come across in the next five minutes.
4. What are your favorite films?
See above. Though, if I had to pick something, I'd have to say Office Space. That movie is the very reason I will never work in an office/cubicle, and find it so hard to give a damn about my job.
5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
HAHA, Taps. In all seriousness though, I'm not exactly planning on getting married. I'm asexual, so I've never been able to look at either gender in "That Way", but it could just be that I find the people I'm surrounded by to be completely repulsive and far to complacent in being part of the herd. It would also explain the anti-social tendencies.
6. At your funeral?
I've never wanted a funeral, I'm hoping to go out in the blaze of glory myself, with not much left to be displayed. I never understood the point of the whole wake/funeral thing myself. "I'm dead, put me in the ground/incinerate me and just get it over with. You're still alive, go do something fun for me will ya?" At least, thats what I'd say at my funeral.
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
In the wilderness, completely alone. Or at least something requiring a closed coffin viewing. (I don't want a funeral, doesn't mean they won't give me one.)
8. What kind of casket would you want?
I've never thought about this for the above reasons, but I'd have to say...Black oak, with a few smiley faces and funny sayings painted all over it. Boy, that'd be uncomfortable huh? I can just imagine all the stifled giggles.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
Anything that includes my trench coat. I love my trench, I have to coolest shadow when I put that thing on. Plus, it's always good to have an excuse for all the stares. Normally I just have to wonder why, but with my coat on I can blame it on something.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Not give a flying phuck about anything. Of course I cared about stuff, but I didn't take life as seriously as I do now. Yeah, I miss having fun.
11. What's your favorite band?
Currently? Otep. Two weeks ago I might have said Korn, or Slipknot, or....
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I'm starting community college this fall, if all goes well, in a year I'll be jumping into an art school. I's gonna make comics! Can anyone guess what genre comics I going to be making?
13. Why did you join?
Well, while I don't consider my self "Goth" I also don't not consider myself goth... I think I have to wait for someone else to bestow that title upon me, labeling myself anything just seems kinda pointless. So, I like goth stuff, and it's nice to see a forum where I don't have to spend 20 minutes trying to decipher each individual post, and with that in mind I hit the register button. That and the lack of meaningful conversation that goes along with the hermit lifestyle has my brain going through periods of entropy...
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
Male, and a one word answer just wouldn't suffice, so I typed out the rest of this sentence.
Well, that wasn't to bad, hopefully you made it this far and didn't just blow me off after reading the title. If there's anything you'd like to know just ask, I can be pretty opinionated, I just can't express it without someone asking first.

Interesting, intelligent, literate -- youre very, very welcome. I hope you enjoy your stay here.
As for the favorite authors, perhaps you could mention a few you've recently read and liked?

Thank you, I always love being judged by my personality/intelligence instead of my appearance (yay, internet!). Being racial ambiguous isn't as much fun as one would assume and this is what, in my opinion, draws all those stares.
In regards to my favorite authors, you question made me realize how little reading I've been doing as of late. Recently I've been spending most of my time with my anatomy books and sketchbooks, not to mention the books on creating art. There's also the fact that I rarely remember the names of the authors whose books I've read, embarrassing yes, but I have the same problem with music. I can remember band names, but rarely will I know each band members name. Ok, I'm just rambling now. I'll just list off some books and authors whose name I can remember;
Anne Rice. I loved Interview and The Vampire Lestat, but after that I was merely reading to see if anything interesting happened. In my opinion she bowed to public opinion about being "Godless" in her later works, but what do I know...
Anne Mccaffrey. Boy this is going way back to my high school days. I loved the Pern series, don't think I could read them today, but they still have a special place in my memories.
JK Rowling. The Potter books, I dunno. I was way past the recommenced reading age, but a fun read nonetheless. Though for such long books they are very fast reads. It only took me a week and a half to read the first five, and thats only because I had to go back to the library to get the last two.
Comic Books. Recently this is all the fiction I've been able to get my hands on, I love look'n at tha prudy pictures.
Aaron Alexovich. Serenity Rose www.heartshapedskull.com. Recently I have been obssessed with this comic. I just love how dark it is, and his line work is just beautiful, never thought I'd loved such simplified characters.
Johnen Vasquez. A little ashamed to mention him, but I Feel Sick is still one of my favorite comics. JTHM is great when I'm in a real shitty mood but otherwise, meh.
And thats all I can pull off the top of my head. If anyone has some suggestions I'd love to hear them, genre be damned. Now that I think about it my recent "artist's" block may be because of a lack of reading, either that or because I haven't watched tv in a good two months, but I highly doubt that.
Wow thats allot of text....

Well, you're smart, you're nice, funny, and you must have the looks to be a goth (unless you consider Hot Topic your home).
The only thing missing is a knowledge of classical books, and some more traditional gothic bands, because, after all, Goth began as a music movement.
With Otep, Korn, and Slipknot being the bands you mentioned, you might not like the mellow and light tones of goth bands, but give it a try:
Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Mission, London After Midnight, and the punk-cabaret duet The Dresden Dolls.

Thanks again everyone! Always nice to feel welcomed, not to mention be considered funny without "weird" being thrown in is well. And, not to worry Godslayer Jillian, I haven't stepped foot inside a Hot Topic in at least two years. Once I started seeing the Hello Kitty stuff I knew it was time to move on. It's sad really, I used to love that store; I was always the kind of guy that loved having a funny saying on his shirt, instead of a giant advertisement that I would have to pay them to wear. Now I usually just go with straight black (or red, or sometimes white) Tee shirts and whatever it is people call button down short sleeve shirts.
I can be pretty mellow as well. A couple bands I forgot to mention:
Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, a few more "mainstream" bands (can't be a freak all the time), I had a thing for Nightwish for a while, not to mention all the classical music I listen to. I just thought listing all these bands along with the previous ones might give off a bi-polar vibe, and to be honest, I just forgot. And, of course I'll be looking up your suggestions. Never hurts to broaden the horizons a little, eh?

Well, unfortunately, I find my art to be a tad lacking at the moment. Recently all I've been doing is practice, but I do have a story I wrote a few months back. It's a little different from what I usually write, though I do want some thoughts on it. I'll go off and post it in the appropriate place, so everyone check it out and tell me what you think!
