Thus Spole Zarathustea

I was just going through my library of books and I found this book "Thus Spoke Zarathusta" by Friedrich Nietzsche. I haven't read this book in a while, so I thought that I would pick it up and start reading it. During the normal course of my reading, I realized why I agree with Nietzsche so much. He basically states that the Church is corrupt and that God is dead.

I was wondering, how many of you have, wanted to, or will read this?
Also, what did you think of this book if you have read it?

I've always wanted to read Nietzche instead of just knowing his ideas in a nutshell. But right now, I'm focusing on finishing the classics.

Yeah, you probably could find these in a bookstore, like Borders, Barnes and Noble, or any other big book store

i like Nietzsche, and everyone is of course entitled to their opinion, but one must decide when to agree with him: he changes his mind!

i do not agree with the conclusion that "God is dead", although i agree with the corrupt church part (i am a Christian goth, but not a member of any church. The Bible is one of my favorite books).

Nietzsche in his early days expounded that life was merely the avoidance of pain, and that the safe way to live was to hide in your house and not leave your front door.

But later, he realized that pain was part of life, and more importantly, pain was an artifact of the growing process, on the way to a higher level of existence, i.e. pain was encountered during the climb up the hill, and would result in eventually arriving at the top of the hill, with it's greater view.

In general, i like the Nietzsche that changes his mind, i respect someone who, on gathering new data, changes their conclusions to fit the new data. He does not irrationally hold on to old ideas just because.
