Everybody knows MTV sucks...(this also includes MTV2). But at the end, no matter how much whinning, they are just doing what they need to do (businesses..). And...should we include Vh1 in the really-sucky-channels list?...I think...yes...XD...
The best music channel available (and...well...in part free) is YouTube.com =) you always hear what you want to.

I don't like MTV. The music they play is either pure shit, or really bad.

I don't watch MTV much, so I don't really know anything about it. I only watch Pimp My Ride, which is really cool.

Ooh I wish my dad didn't hate Sky...I wanna watch Redemption too! As for those VH1 'documentaries' like 'The Fabulous Life Of...' I can't stand them! They just point out how wasteful people can be. I mean that Lil' Kim lady has tv's put behind the head rests of the seats in the back. Why?! *sigh* programmes like that shouldn't ever be shown.

S.I.M.S. what do you expect?

They are rich, materialistic bastards with nothing else to do. I bet the bitch doesn't even drive the thing. But you are right...people can be so wasteful.

Beowulf: I did not know they played my dying bride on tv...well...probably because I never watch it.

I hate it to. MTV GET OFF THE MTV GET OFF THE MTV GET OFF THE AIR

How low will you stoop
To tranquilize our minds with your sugar-coated swill

You've turned rock and roll rebellion
Into Pat Boone sedation
Making sure nothing's left to the imagination
MTV GET OFF THE MTV GET OFF THE MTV GET OFF THE AIR
See the latest rejects from the muppet show
Wag their tits and their dicks
As they lip-synch on screen
There's something I don't like
About a band who always smiles
Another tax write-off
For some schmuck who doesn't care

M.T.V. Get off the air
And so it was
Our beloved corporate gods
Claimed they created rock video
Allowing it to sink as low in one year
As commercial TV has in 25
"It's the new frontier," they say
It's wide open, anything can happen
But you've got a lot of nerve
To call yourself a pioneer
When you're too god-damn conservative
To take real chances.

Tin-eared
Graph-paper brained accountants
Instead of music fans
Call all the shots at giant record companies now

The lowest common denominator rules
Forget honesty
Forget creativity
The dumbest buy the mostest
That's the name of the game

But sales are slumping
And no one will say why
Could it be they put out one too many lousy records?!?

M.T.V.-Get off the air!

MTV... do they even play music anymore? From what I can see it seems to be a channel devoted to the hip hop culture now, I hate even passing by that channel. I remember when it first began and it was all music all the time, yes a little mainstream for my taste, but never the less it was all about the music. Now it just seems to be about crap and I don't see how they are still in business. What a waste of airspace. It would be nice if someone would devote a channel to our culture and the music that we like. I don't see that happening anytime soon though. I say fuck MTV!

Pre-1995 or so it was great because they actually played a lot of music, and the few shows that were on were also usually related to music instead of all this crap that's on now. What irritates me most is that when they do show videos they're 80% rap, 19.9% pop, and only 0.1% rock/alternative/metal/everything else.

I don't watch MTV or MTV 2 period.

It's not even because I them (which I do). Its just that the music which is ever so rarely played just doesn't appeal to me.

I mean, if you're going to say MTV is not for music, but MTV 2 is, why not have music on MTV 2 all the time?

Well in my personal view since mtv plays what is most popular amongest mindless
teens and since "emo" and "gangtsa" is played most well then it sucks and i'm afraid
vh1 might be getting the same treatment.

The Sifl and Ollie Show. Hey, I remember that and I remember thinking it was funny. Then again, this was years ago, so I could be completely wrong.

Also, I can tell this topic is going to be one of those threads where the same opinion is voiced over and over and over for pages and pages.

Ah i'm sick of MTV
My sister often watches it, but it's the most brain-washing TV programme after that one about SMS!

Don't deny us our one true joy in life.

Eh. I don't really care if MTV plays crappy music, as long as they play music. They are a business, after all, and tend to allow viewers to vote on music. Popular music is played, and popular music is generally poor. However, any music at all is hard to find on MTV. Even with MTV, MTV2, and VH1 on at the same time, it is rare for any actual music videos to appear. Even CMT (Country Music Television) is going the way of MTV, with American Idol-esque shows. I swear I saw something like Pimp My Pickup on there, too...

The only MTV show I've seen in the last few months that had anything at all to do with music was "100 Best Songs of the 80s". It was really more commentary than music, but interesting nonetheless. I haven't even seen a Top 20 Countdown for several months.

I agree with you, Kerrang (Kerrap) and Scuzz are awful, Scuzz used to ok to begin with showing a wide selection of material past and present, but now it just plays the same videos ad nauseum !!!.

Headbangers Ball was excellent when Vanessa Warwick produced and presented it, it had such a wide variety of material on it, and they had tour and scene reports and it was brilliant !!!.

Rockworld is really good (used to be Redemption tv) worth checking out, as they have some really good bands on there !!!.
