If you're going for white blond, use a bleach, then a silver rinse, then condition. Do this all in one session for best effect.

blonde goth
I know it's just a cartoon, but it's true-- with pale skin and white hair, your kohl-lined eyes will stand out more, giving you a vacuous soulless look.

Quick question, what would anyone recommend I do to my hair, because I do not want to lose all of my curl, but I want it to at least be semi straight. I have had to work with my hair for too long, and now I cannot get it to do anything, what should I do?
|
You could try semi blowdrying it straight. By this I mean brushing it whilst blowdrying. But only until it's slightly damp, that way part of it can dry naturally slightly. My hair is really wavy & whenever I've tried this, it tones down the natural waves, but doesn't completely flatten it.
Or you could try straightening it slightly. Just run some straightners through it gently, so that it softens the curls a little.
Hope that helps

you could get some anti frizz serum and just put a little of that in your hair and then let it air dry, that should help

White hair, that's what I'd love so much. Mine's dark brown. I've wanted to make my hair go white ever since I was decorating my deceased grandad's house, and bashed my head (accidentally) against the door I was painting white... I loved the white look. No idea what you'd do about the eyebrows if you went white-haired though? Would you dye 'em? Shave 'em off? lmao.
My sister's gonna see if she can use me as her tint guinea pig on Tuesday, I think that's their training night, at the hairdresser where she's working. I'm trying to make my mind up what I want... Something vibrant and candy-coloured methinks, most likely electric red, orange or pink.

I too absolutely love white hair. I have naturally dark brown, almost black hair. There are a few hairdyes where I live that sell white hair dye, so maybe I can bleach it to a pale blonde and whiten it, like today's obsession with whiter teeth.
Methinks that either color for eyebrows would do. I'll most likely I'll keep my normal eyebrow color, and shape them.
You should ask your sister to do white on you.

I have long (about chest length) stick-straight hair that I'm growing out. I had layers but didn't like them and pretty much grew them out. I want my hair to be longer, but I also want a more interesting style than all one length, which is kind of boring with my really straight hair. I love the look of bangs but I'm afraid they won't flatter my very wide face. (I'll post a picture later if it will be helpful) Any ideas or pictures?

Also - how the hell do people do the whole piled on the top of the head thing? Like this (flowers unnecessary)? I feel stupid, but I'm stumped - what's holding the hair up there? How can I do it?

What I usually do (or did, before I chopped my hair off) is this:
First, do NOT try to work with clean hair. Depending on how greasy your hair gets, you probably want to have "day-old" hair. If you forgot and you showered, or your hair gets greasy quickly, you can achieve similar results with mousse and a little bit of shaving cream. Yeah, I know, it sounds gross but it works.
Now, if you are looking to have a more regimented beehive look, get ready to rat your hair. You basically have to rat your hair to shit, and then use a brush and very gently brush it up and around. To keep the regimented look, you'll probably want to take the back and french twist it down, and then take the extra and bobby pin it into the twist. It will take a LOT of bobby pins to secure the whole thing, but such is the price of beauty.
If you want a more natural updo, like in the picture, it's a lot more fun to do. For one thing, you don't have to be as exacting. You start the same way, with dirty hair, but the first thing you're going to do is take a curling iron to it. Make lots of thick ringlets, but do NOT brush them. Start at the crown of your head if you want a little more height, and you will probably want to do a little bit of ratting as you pin your curls up. Start to work your way down to the base of your skull, pinning your curls up near the crown of your head. All of the pieces in front should be pinned back loosely near the crown of your head, with the ends hanging down in pieces. You may even want to leave a couple of strands framing your face. You'll be doing all of this with bobby pins.
If you want to add flowers, you'll be using bobby pins for that, as well. The easiest and cheapest way I've found is to purchase fabric flowers at the store and hot-glue them to the pins. If you aren't crafty, or don't have a hot-glue gun, you can also find flower hairpins at Claire's. Just stick them in your hair, wherever you think they should go, and bury the pin part in your 'do so that they appear to just sort of be there.
These are both really time-intensive updo's, but they're really nice looking and not too difficult. If you want something fast, easy, and slightly less fancy, I have JUST the 'do for you!!
Start by brushing all of your hair straight back into a ponytail at the crown of your head. Yes, I know it feels weird, and like you're going to Cheer Practice. If you want, you can chant "go team" and bounce a few times, just to see what it feels like. Now, take all of the hair in your pony tail, and split it into sections. Curl it the best you can, but don't worry if you don't get all of it. Now, take the loads of bobby pins you bought for the other 'dos, and start pinning. You'll probably want to pin all of the curls up to within about a 2 inch radius of your ponytail. If you're one of those people who just HAS to have some hair around their face, or they feel/look funny, curl the front bits too. I promise it looks better.
It's sleek, it's simple, and (for me) it takes all of 20 minutes. Good luck!

If you do white, PLEASE rinse your bleached hair with a violet toner. That should take the yellow out.

Ack, sorry for the triple post! Hair Sticks like these are easier to use than you think. I found a cool tutorial that showed me how to do some simple 'dos with them.
Is my use of the word 'do annoying and 80's? I'll stop if it is!!

So I was wondering if this is a good idea. When my deathhawk isn't up, my hair is parted down the middle to about my chin. I was thinking about a cool dye job. I plan on dying one side platinum blonde, but keeping one side pitch black. I figure that not only will it look cool down, but I can put it up in two rows of spikes, one row black and one row blonde. I don't know. What do you think?

Since I'm still in high school I can't do anything with my hair, but after high school I'm gonna do some crazy style and get pointed bangs and dye them lime green. Would the bangs be neat or asstarded?

I love bangs.
I don't know why, but there's something deeply attractive to me when a woman has some of her hair on her face. Not as if it were mysterious like when they cover half their face, but I just think it's both sensual and cute when her hair falls a little to the front. Though I don't like the kind of bangs that women have where you can only focus on that horizontal line they have because her hair is all uniform.
But I love how pointed bangs sound.

I'm not a fan of straight cut bangs that form a line across the forehead, but as Jillian said, most other forms of hair falling over the face look great, including pointed styles.
Badteccy - With the lime green pointed bangs... once you're out of school, go for it! From what I've seen from your pictures, they'll probably suit you rather well. I've actually been thinking of coloured bangs for myself very soon, only I'm dying mine dark blue.
Which leads me to an idea I've had for my future hairstyle for quite some time, though I'm still undecided about ever executing it. I have really long hair at the moment, which is great for fancy updos, but aside from leaving it out I can't do much else with it, which is why I've been thinking up some more interesting things for my precious scalp-grown keratin...
The style I have in mind would basically be a huge Robert Smith/Siouxsie creation, with long-ish coloured bangs left un-backcombed in the front (blue/red/purple...white? Whatever I feel like at the time), and a few extremely long braids at the very back - sort of like the curls cascading from the bottom of those huge 18th century powdered wigs. Hmmm... I'm not sure if I've explained it too well, but it looks great in my mind, haha.
I'm just terrified of cutting my hair short enough to do that since I've been growing it long for a reeeeally long time. In fact the reason for the two long braids, aside from the 18th century inspiration, is just to keep a token of my hair's current length. Grrr... Hair is such a tricky thing...

If you're unsure about getting your hair trimmed shorter, have it cut just a wee bit shorter than it is now. When I felt like trying a little shorter, I got my hair dresser to cut a few inches off. Of course I hated it, but it grew back. Plus think about all the lovely stuff you'll be able to do with shorter hair.
I'd get my hair cut shorter, but I'm too attatched to it long. Although, it wouldn't get caught on things anymore...last night I got stuck to a doorhandle because of it.

I dyed my hair black, and I hate it. I looks horrible on me. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do to make it look better or lighten it up without bleaching or stripping it?

I did the black thing, and then was a little bored with the color, so I got highlights. That's really the only way to lighten it without damaging it too badly. Get lots of really little highlights and it'll lighten the overall look of your hair, but it won't put bleach in all of your hair so you should maintain pretty healthy hair.
