| Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

yeah, i like Gregorian Chillout, especially late at night after a tough day. Mix of female and male choirs, with some female solos. Timeless.
One of the few albums you won't find on youtube.

Gregorian Chants
Love them! They're so soothing and just amazingly talented. There are some nice websites that have free downloads of old recordings, if anyone is interested?

Its not a who, its a genre of music that uses only voices in chant.

I used to sing these songs while I was still cantor and member of the catholic church... I envy those who can just listen to the old chants because of their musical value - since I know what the lyrics mean and have seen them in their natural function in mass I always start thinking about just that. And that's rather annoying... at the very least, it prevents me from getting relaxed by this music :P

Really? I find the theme of gregorian chants to be a tad sad, but amusing.

I suppose sad indeed, a remorse... the monks that started it I think were the ones that would mutilate themselves at lent for their sins and the sins of others. Not to mention, the monks that started it took vows of silence, and were only able to sing.... I think anyways.... Not too sure, but it makes sense to me that way. kinda funny when you think of what they say, I suppose...

A friend sneaked a CD or two into my collection... I remember crying over some, and it used to be a favourite kind of lullaby. Truly beautiful music even if most people I know think I'm mad. Glad to know there are others!
