That's a really good idea. My little sister just started wanting to wear makeup, and my mom was really not happy about the whole concept until one day my sister & I worked on makeup together. I made her promise me a couple of things, like that she'd never EVER wear blue eyeshadow, and that she'd wait until she's older before she tries any lipstick (but tinted lipgloss is ok)... I even advised her against black eyeliner. She's naturally blond and fair, so I told her that she ought to start with lighter, more natural colors.

If you can use makeup as an enhancement, and you can make yourself look semi-natural, your parents' objections will lessen. My mom's ok with my sister wearing makeup now... She even bought her one of those big plastic Caboodles and they decorated & organized it together.

Show your parents you're going to be responsible. Hopefully they'll be ok with it.

Sometimes I put the pale (not white) foundation I use on my lips. That combined with heavy black eyeliner has a great effect. Dunno if you'd say I look dead, but it looks really cool. There was just a very, very faint touch of pink to my lips (they're naturally very red), and no color in my cheeks. Maybe if you could get the same effect using white foundation you would look very corpsy.

If you want to look dead, as I believe has been discussed before, you need to be using blues and grays. Like you said, skin-white is not dead looking. It's just pale. You can start with a skin-white foundation, and then use a light gray or blue to highlight your cheekbones, like you would with blush... Then make sure the eye makeup you are using is in cool colors, particularly gray, blue, and black. That should help.

It's from clinique. I don't know which line it's from (I don't have it here) but the colour is alabaster. It was "my color" before the summer, according to the saleslady.

This is the makeup look my sister calls, "Dark Ice Angel".

Makeup Look

My camera sucks.

What I used for this look is the following:

Eyes:

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Zero (zealous black), worth $15US.
Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Goddess (midnight blue with lots of electric blue microglitter), worth $15US.
Alcone Beauty Fast Lash Mascara in Black (comes with the Fast Lash collection worth $28US altogether).
Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Air Guitar (blue), worth $17US.
Pop Beauty Glitter Stix in Azure (turquoise blue with silver glitter), worth $8US (Pop Beauty is from London, and therefore worth 5 pounds).

[ULips:[/u]

Sugar Lipstick in Smirk.
Sugar Lipstick in Star.
Both lipsticks are discontinued, but check out more tasty-great lipsticks from Sugar Cosmetics.

Face:

Ben Nye Color Cake Makeup, worth $10US.
L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Powder, worth $10US.
Ben Nye Final Seal: Matte Makeup Sealer, worth $5US.

This look is very simple. Brush on UD Goddess Eyeshadow all over lid, going upwards slightly above the eyelid, and brush lightly on the lower lid, beneath the lower lash line. Thinly, pencil in the Pop Beauty Azure Glitter Stix above, touching UD Goddess Eyshadow on top lid only. Line your lids with UD's Zero Eyeliner on the inner lids of both upper and lower eyelid only. Finish off with Alcone Beauty Mascara on both upper and lower lashes. Optional: For more glitter, line the Pop Beauty Azure area with UD Heavy Metal Glitter Liner in Air Guitar for a more intense glitter wear. I did so in the next picture below.

This is how the eyes look when closed:

Closed Eyes

Take Sugar's Smirk Lipstick and apply. Take Sugar's Star Lipstick and apply on top of Smirk, blending together to great an icy shine with a hint of warm glow.

Use Ben Nye Color Cake Makeup (make sure the sponge or your fingers are wet for best results!) in your skin match color and apply all over face (or anywhere you want to take it). Powder face with L'Oreal True Match powder to create a more matte finish if you have an oily face, like mine. Finish with Ben Nye Final Seal (it's a spray, so be careful if it gets into your eyes. Close your eyes when spraying) all over the face, all corners and angles, anywhere.

You are finished!

Urban Decay
Alcone Beauty
Pop Beauty
Sugar Cosmetics
Ben Nye (Ben Nye's website is currently updating, but this website stocks their makeup)
L'Oreal Cosmetics

Eyeshadow Base?

Anybody have a good recommendation for a base or primer to use under my eyeshadow? I have very shiny eyelids, and my shadow tends to migrate to the creases by noon, no matter what I use on them. Any price point will do at this point, I am desperate. Thanks!

Any tips on good makeup styles for beginners? For a long time I've just worn black or plum coloured liner & black mascara. I'm not really great with this stuff yet, what would be a good look to move onto next? I have grey eyes, very pink toned skin, and henna red hair.
