Oceans Twelve
I'll see every Stephen Soderberg movie ever made. And probaby kind of like it. I liked this one. They joked about one of my favorite movies, Miller's Crossing by the Cohen Bros., so it can't be that bad.
The first one was better, but the second one was very good. Worth seeing in a dark theatre, but I'm wierd and my opinion shouldn't be trusted.

bah, t. i liked king arthur. granted, it wasn't as good as i'd hoped it would be but, then again, very few movies are as good as i hope they'll be.
i was, however, very disappointed that there was NO mention of dudley moore.
not once.
besides that one, i watched a few others over the course of the last few days.
napolean dynamite. i'm pretty sure i went to school with that kid. but that was kind of the point, eh?
slums of beverly hills. i don't know that i will ever be able to wash the image of david krumholtz singing "luck, be a lady tonight" in his 1976-style tightie-whities from my eyes. but that's ok.
the punisher. having no comic book point of reference for this one, i wasn't able to pick it apart like some people have/might/will, so i wasn't distracted by thoughts like, "hey! he never did that!!" but it did have john travolta in it. as a villain. yay.
i, robot. i really enjoyed this one. i didn't really expect much, so i was pleasantly surprised. (and if you saw it & didn't like it, don't piss in my cheerios about it, mmmk?)
a wrinkle in time. luckily, it's been long enough since my last reading of the book that i wasn't able to pick it apart too badly. and i dozed off about halfway through (damn you, you uber-comfy recliner!) so the picking-apart was handled nicely by my daughter. she liked it, but she kept saying, "mom! THAT didn't happen like that."
the terminal. ok, this is an exception to the "few movies are as good as i hope they'll be" thing. i was hoping it would be a sweet & sappy feel-good kinda movie and it was. some of the acting was a bit "eh", but i didn't think it was enough to totally derail the whole movie. and i happen to love tom hanks, so it probably wouldn't have bothered me much, anyway.
i do feel kind of empty, though, that i missed out on my annual viewing of a Christmas story. fucking hasting's was out of it and since i am currently without cable, there wasn't even hope for the 24-hour tnt marathon. *sigh* there's always next year, i suppose.

Ah, the Terminal. Well, I’m still up in the air about this one. It’s been over two weeks since I’ve seen it, and I just don’t know which way to go. On the one hand I loved the performances. In especially, Tom Hanks as the Heinleinish character, a proverbial stranger in a strange land. I also liked the performances of Diego Luna and Zoe Saldana as the starcrossed lovers, and loved the Trekie pun played there. What I didn’t get was Catherine Zeta-Jone’s role in the whole affair. That sub-story took too much emphasis off the main story of Hank’s reason for being in New York, and floundered at the end in the way only a rotting fish can do. If not for that one gripe, this movie would have been sublime.
I’m still not sure if I liked it, but I do know I didn’t love it.
As for King Arthur? To each his or her own.
p.s. PEOPLE! Cary Grant isn't in Harvey! And neither is Hepburn. I give you a freebie like that, and no one rips me a new asshole? You are all fucking slipping. And I apologize for the mistake, and in my defense...I was rather snookered when I wrote that, and had just watched Harvey and the Philadelphia Story back to back, so my apologizes for fucking that whole review up. Harvey was with the big Pookha rabbit, Philadelphia Story was with Grant, Stewart, and Hepburn, and both are excellent movies. Nuff said.

Sorry Tom,
guess most of us weren't around for those movies.
I'm just not a Hepburn fan. When she died women were sobbing and I said "what's the big deal? She's no Bela Lugosi!"
Just not my genre.
I will be posting a review to One Night in Chyna after I see it!

I just saw The Darkness. All movies lose points with me if they aren't German exprssionist, or Kwaiidon, but it was REALLY SCARY!! My feet never touched the ground at the theatre, and seldom did I take my fingers out of my ears. Watch it! Watch it!

"Live Nude Girls, Unite!"...two strippers from the Lucky Lady in San Francisco made a documentary about forming a strippers union. Oddly enough this turned out to be a great documentary and a very compelling one, because it forces you to look at these women for more than their tits and ass. which is hard.

Same here! I find it troubling that a lot of people don't know it's a book 0.o

Oh... my... goodness- If you appreciate martial arts at all, you will go crazy for this film. If you appreciate the most *amazing* fighting I have ever seen (this movie puts Kill Bill to shame), you will go crazy for this film. If you like plots, characters, or any other aspect of film at all, you will *love* this movie! The fighting is *real* and they are doing stuff that makes the Matrix looks like playground antics without wires. I seriously have no words. Usually, I get bored with the standard re-used sound effects, but there's no way anybody could be bored by this film. The spirited acting, the inspired fights... there's enough passion in this movie to fill a swimming pool. And I can't stop raving about the fights- I don't know if I've stressed this enough, but they're *awesome*!

Why you ask was I bound and chained in this cold and dismal place!?
Not for any mortal sin,
But the wickedness of my abhorrent face!
The Phantom of the Opera was there in the cinema last night, and I've never been more excited by a movie, I think, ever. I nearly exploded, no joke.

Meet the Fockers (possible spoiler)
The film turned out to be exactly what I expected. The same set of situations with different characters in different locations. There was the whole "Let's all play a sport where someone gets seriously injured in the process" bit as well as the "Jack goes behind Focker's back and digs up stuff that isn't true on him - then realizes it in the end and everyone makes up" stuff. It's alot like the first movie in many ways, so it scores few points in originality (but who's expecting much of that out in a box office sequel?).
Reguardless, it was still funny for about 70% of the time. Jack's one million dollar (plus some) RV was a little hard to swallow for someone on a CIA pention. Of all the actors, it was Hoffman who really stole the show here. His line about the "CLIA" was absolutely hilarious. Overall, wasn't bad at all for a box office sequel. I'd certainly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first film to see it in either theaters or when it comes to DVD.
Species 3*
From the title and your immediate assumption, this movie was no great shakes. However, some of the lines in it were absolutely hilarious. In the opening scene, there are two military guards driving a truck down a background and the driver suddenly gets jumpy and pulls a gun on the passanger. The passanger's response: "Woah, man! What are you? Back from Iraq or something?" That line was so horrible I almost fell out of my chair.
Another great line came when this professor was stabbed right in the middle of his upper chest with a tentacle. One of his students runs up to him immediately and says, "It's ok, professor, you're gonna be alright." The professor looks down at this gaping hole in the middle of his chest, then back to the student and replies, "Doubt it."
If you like third rate (and sequel) "sex and science" movies, this should be right up your alley.
(I didn't rent this one)

Meet the Fockers (not by choice)- Not so much.
Lemony Snicket- *Awesome*- I loved Violet's dress. I'll have to post that in the "Favorite Outfit from a Movie" post. The comedy was awesome. I just really liked it. Call me crazy, but any film in which a 14-year-old girl exclaims "She's an infant!" is awesome. Or maybe I was just in a mood.
