Cover my back -- please.

Look, I need a little help here. I wrote a novel with author proceeds going to prevent child abuse. (I'm a therapist in a children's mental health program.) I got a review from one of the top firms in the world that was glowing -- The Missouri Review (check it out); more blurbs from authors that will fit on a poster; and another great review by the most prominent scifi critic that speaks English.

But, these assholes who are into sword fantasy novels keep keep dissing me on sites without even reading Rarity from the Hollow. Please fight them by posting comments on science fiction site forums, groups, and anyplace else that you can post to support this project. It's a good cause. My novel is at www.fatcatpress.com.

I think that are protecting a member of their group who has been published but unlikely to sell much in the future because his stuff is boring. Do you want to read more sword? I'm sorry if the guy is broke, but this one is for abused kids and his income is not a comparable matter. Maybe he can get a real job or write something different.

Anyway, thanks, Robert Eggleton

Unfortunately, I don't think any of us have read your book.
Yet, as the curious creature I am, I have ideed serched for reviews on your book, and I have to say that I have been interested for some months already in reading Rarity From the Hollow.
I can't defend a book I haven't read, but I have to tell you not to worry about it. Maybe I haven't look well enough, but I haven't seen a bad review of you yet. I guess your bad reviews only come from personal oppinions scattered around in many boards, but what author has ever been valued by everyone?
There's certainly people who will not like it. Let their oppinion be that which they have. It's not like we're all going to listen to specifically the bad reviews.

I agree with Jillian on this. Honestly, if someone doesn't have enough of an open mind to read your book, that's just one less asshat in your audience.

Bite the bullet Mr. Eggleton, at least you got published, that alone says your writing appealed to someone with merit. I think it's great that you're giving your proceeds to a good cause, but getting upset about a few bad reviews could hurt you more than help you.
I mean, do you want everyone to love your book? That is not going to happen, to any author. You'll find your audience like everyone else did, don't let the nay-sayers bother you. If anything, you could say 'na-na-na-na I got published'. Pat yourself on the back for that at least!
Personally I don't read that type of Sci-Fi book, but I wish you luck.
