Horror Movie

Greetings, I wanted to make a thread for your favorite horror movies. You list your favorite horror movie, and you tell us why you like it.
One of my favorites is The Shining by Stanley Kubrick. The actors were sensational, I thought Jack Nicholson was crazy in real life. Also the story is believable (fantasy stories like Blade don't scare me much). The use of camera techniques and story elements to bring out the sense of claustrophobia really made it stand out.

That’s a hard question, as most horror films seem to be more entertaining, than scary. This is going to sound weird, but I found the scene in the Devil's Advocate movie scary where someone's face looks normal, but then their face morphs slightly.

Maybe because that seems more believable, than Freddy running the streets!

Oh, the other one is when someone moves in really fast hyper speed, or like in the Ring where someone's movement is "off" and staggered.

I feel the same. I've never actually found a scary movie that scared me. It's all been entertaining. There aren't really good scary movies out anymore. And if they say that they're "horror" They're not in my opinion....

But! In my opinion I like The Queen of the Damned. It had good music on it. Some people didn't like it, but I did.

A lot of "horror" movies these days are actually rather creepy. But "creepy" doesn't equal "horror." Like I thought White Noise was rather creepy, but it wasn't scary one bit. Same thing with The Grudge.

That's exactly what I was thinking... I like horror movies (psychological thrillers and creepy kids more than blood-n-guts), but they're not particularly literary...
