Backcombing is crucial for the making of a cool deathawk.
When I want to tease my hair, first I straighten it, and apply glue; a lot of glue. After it hardens, I begin to tease it. It kinda looks like I just woke up, but that's because mine is short, but I bet you it works perfectly for getting the real deal if your hair is long.

Yeah, I have pretty long hair. I have just backcombing and this gunk that my roomates had. It stuck up a little bit, but it was a bit clumpy and didn't look how I wanted it to look.

Don't put too much "gunk" if any on the tip of the style. That can weigh it down.

me shaving my head (first post)
i like this whole idea about shaving parts of your head but leaving others long. the pic included is what i looked like about two weeks ago. my question is: do you have any suggestions of what would look good shaved? ps i'm going to dye it back to black in another two weeks or so when it's longer,

Go make an intro.
Anyways, I've gotta tell you: That is by far the worst done mohawk I have ever seen.
Sorry, it had to be said.
I wouldn't dye it completely black either. Maybe black with lime green accents?
Try shaving it like mine:

It totally won't look like shit, I promise. And even if it does, your hair is so short that it'll grow back in like 2 weeks.

I'm looking to get a new hair style.
I want it to be kind of 80s goth style kind of siouxsie sioux ish but curly. I want it to be short(shorter than chin length bt longer than ear length) but big, and have it so when I backcomb it it covers part of my jaybone.
Any suggestions? Nobody seems to want to help me

Ok, so I also need ideas for new hairstyles.
The 'hawk must go by parental petition.
What's a cool thing I can do with my hair?
Keep in mind that my sides are buzzed, my non-buzzed hair is only limited to a strip the width of the distance of my eyes, and it's length is relatively short (reaching to the tip of my nose)

That's a pity... uh... umm... you could... err... damn, that's a good question. If I were you, I'd probably take it all off and wait for all of the hair to regrow. There was a trend here some time ago, people would get "hair tattoos", which basically meant getting a design shaved into your hair. I can't find any pictures of it at the moment, but it looks pretty cool. An example of designs which could work (especially looking at the bottom left one): http://www.tattoo-me.com/funstuff/tribal&celtic.jpg. These are regular tattoo designs, but could easily be adapted. If any hair dressers do this kind of thing where you live (or you have a friend with artistic talent and a steady hand), it would be worth considering...

Haha, no, I'd look horrible like that; and my school wouldn't tolerate it.
I want to keep my hair, and even continue growing it while keeping the sides buzzed.
I'm thinking of wearing my hair on the back and top as if I had a mohawk, but try to keep it as small and dense as I can, while letting the hair in the front grow.
Kind of like this guy, but with denser hair and probably without the short hair standing up: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...JohnKoviak.jpg
(guess who he is)

Okay so I used one of those root touch up kits about a week ago and now my hair feels like straw. Anything I can do to make it not so frizzy and straw like or am I just stuck like this till it grows out. sigh. Last time something like this happened was when I was really stupid and put blond streaks in my hair and the hairdresser left the bleach in too long. It feels exactly like that all over again.

My hair is a mix between the second link and the last link.
Because you have long hair, you should probably ask yourself if you're really ready to have most of it cut off (of course should you decide to go with one of the shorter styles).
My entire life I had super long hair and the past December I just decided for something completely different. So I went to a friend of mine who does hair and had him lop it all off and style it.
Losing that much hair really is a semi-emotional event. So if you go for one of the shorter styles- just be sure that's what you want. Cause if it turns out later that you wanted a longer style, it'll seem like forever for it to grow back to where it's long enough. Just a friendly warning.

I know I made that mistake a few years ago and got it cut short but I really like that style. What I might do is get it cut like one of the longer styles first and then if I don't like that then I could just get it cut short.

I will. It's either between the first or the third one.

I rather prefer either 1 or 2.
1 would be awesome if you dye it a darker color, maybe just black.

So, I've been growing out my hawk (busted my budget on hairspray, long story), and am now waiting for the hair underneath my long hair to grow out somewhat. And I'm horribly tired of how it looks, because I can't seem to find anything interesting to do with it, especially not if we have relatives coming over and I need to hide it. This has resulted in my constantly wearing my hair in a sort of secretary style. Sure, grandma loves it, but I am bored out of my wits by it. I'd gladly take any suggestions on some fun, feminine hairstyles that I'm able to pull off with the amount of hair that I do have.

I forgot to add - the hair that I do have is quite long, down to my chin, so wearing a style a la the one suggested to Jilli would not be an option - I need to see where I'm going

My hair has been bright red for almost a year now. I just bleached it twice within the past month (my hair is always in very good condition which makes it easier to dye) and it is STILL BRIGHT ORANGE. I know I have to use toner, but what is the best toner to use? I have one more bleach job to do before it should be light enough but I know there will still be an orange-y ness to it.
I want to bleach it fairly blonde, just because I've never been blonde and want to try it out.
Then when I get sick of it I'll probably do SFX Pimpin Purple.

Seeing as one of my friends decided it would be fun to cut of a lock of my hair today in drama and it looks kinda weird I think now would be a good time to get a haircut. Any suggestions of style?

Does anyone know a good Victorian hairstyle site? I found some tips and know how to do some but I'd like some variety. I've got long, thick hair so....yea. if you can help, that'd be great.
