They were pretending to do so, to make themselves feel as if they were Goth. They believed that symbols like those are Goth symbols. I know the pentacle is a beautiful symbol, but it was as if they were butchering the symbolic itself.

jebes-

I think people who act that way are just acting out of fear and ignorance for what they do not understand or want to accept about other people. I've had that happen to me quite often, people have their little prejudices and it is completely silly. I think it is somewhat funny now and it amuses me to see the reactions of some people. There are simply some who will never accept our lifestyle for whatever reason they have in their closed little brains. That's just the way it is and if you intend to live your life this way you must accept that, it never changes. I've said this in another post, but all we can really do is carry ourselves into the world and try to create a possitive image for our culture. The way I look at it is if someone can't get past what is on the outside then they do not deserve what is on the inside. It does suck for you that your parents don't accept it, but you will be all grown up someday and the lifestyle is not going anywhere, do what you must for now to stay connected and perhaps your parents will change their view.
That is the problem with most organized religions, they think everyone should live a certian way and follow a certian moral code. There is nothing wrong with having morals, but those are a personal thing that each person should choose for themselves. No person should make those choices for you.

Neurosis--

Those girls are probably finding some interest in the Wiccan religion and looking for a way to connect to it without really understanding it yet. I have studied the craft for about 18 years, Wiccan and other sects, and there is a lot to learn. The penticle is a symbol of protection, they may not even understand this. It is common for teens with an interest in such things to try and express it but they are wrong in their actions and should spend some time really studying the craft if they truely wish to explore such things. Some of the rites I've gone through were the most enlightening experiances of my life and I will never forget them, there is much work to be done in actually learning and understanding the craft.

I would caution anyone who was ever tempted to join VampireFreaks to stay away. Not because they're a shitty, ignorant, attention-whore community (be that as it may) but because they have had several members within the past year commit murder. In one case, a young girl met up with an older fellow on VampireFreaks, and they got together and killed her family. In another case, a fellow posted pictures of himself with guns, and posted things about how he wanted to kill. He was the shooter in the Montreal shootings recently.

An interesting news article:

http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/...5-b25757927c55
"A website that revels in pain, blood, death and darkness is the common link among several homicides, rapes, a church arson and now the Dawson College rampage..."

I still use VF... I don't get randomers talking to me, and stick to talking about nothing important with the only other poster on the avapxia cult.
The UK Goths cult isn't bad, though- they even have a warning that when they say goth, they mean Bauhaus and not Manson, CoF, Slipknot, etc.

Liking HIM or Marilyn Manson does not make you 'gothic' but liking them does not automatically make you NOT Gothic.
And yes I love HIM and I have for a couple of years now.

I've actually had people tell me too my face that I was a poseur for liking HIM. Witch is something I really do not understand. If I like something and i'm not liking them just to make myself 'gothic' how can I possibly be a poseur?

I love Bauahus and The Dresden Dolls. I think Siouxsie and the Banshees and Cinema Strange kick arse. I don't like Alien Sex Fiend very much but at least I know who they are along with countless other bands.

Dude-- if that's their attitude, fuck'em. They have no right to judge you. Despite my complete lack of religion, I think Jesus had it right when he said "judge not lest ye be judged."

I am not religious either but I have read the whole bible just so I won't be ignorant when I deny scripture. I've thrown verses at 'supposedly' religious people and have had then completely perplexed at the fact that I just exposed them for the hypocrites that they are.

I once told someone that "If your God created everyone and everything, and we are all created in the image of God, than I suppose you're betraying God everytime you judge someone so lovelessly."

Why thank you. The person who I said it to still did not 'love me' after I said it to her. She just looked at me with wide eyes and sort of just walked away.

Um. HIM has some good songs, but they are a mainstream band and blah blah blah, don't count as goth. I can see why they called you a poser though for just liking them. There needs to be an activist site which upholds that goths can listen to other music too in moderation being the key. Example: I like HIM, but I don't listen to much mainstream as I'm a picky music person. But just becuase I like it does not mean I am any less of what I am; if I listened to Green Day though, the music would go to my head and I would magically start cutting myself and become emo. It has to be clinically proven that mainstream "emo" music and other similarly labeled mainstream music must be the cause for these insulting people.

I've only heard one HIM song, as it just happened to be stuck to the end of a CKY DVD. It wasn't anything spectacular. Personally, I'd call HIM alternative. Their sound doesn't really have anything that distinguishes them as anything in particular.

At least, from what I've heard of that one song.

I'm odd in my music tastes. I thank Uncle Mike for giving my first cd's. Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, and Britney Spears.

Neways, I like Join Me In Death-great music video, watch and you'll see why, and Gone With The Sun. Their stuff on the radio is always the shitty stuff. Go to youtube and watch/listen to them. Gone With The Sun, The Sacrament, Join Me In Death, Right Here In My Arms(really good) are my favorites, they may be emo sounding, but it's done in a sexy deep voice. *to my Hippy, you have a sexy deep voice too, don't worry!*

What you are doing, is being prejudiced. You are saying becuase of his music tastes, he sucks and is a horrible person. So becuase you are wearing black or whatever, you must be a horrible person too. Be nice and consider what you are saying.

Umm, that's actually the correct way to spell poseur. I may criticize om3gagoth but I'm not going to criticize someone for spelling a word correctly.

Taste is taste, you don't like HIM that's fine. What's your problem? Cheer the fuck up!

As far as "poseur" is concerned, both "poseur" and "poser" are correct.

Though I detest "poseur."
