Couldn't happen quick enough. Maybe you should consider running away from home. I mean, why even bother with a college in the US if Canada is so much better? At any rate, good luck with your protest of the United States in Canada. Or rather... good luck entertaining that idea in the future when you finally mature.
If you're so religiously devout, why not try moving South with like-minded people rather than North into an entirely different country?

In my opinion, its half genetic and half someone's own fault for being overweight. My mother is a tad bit overweight, yet she has been working hard for the past few months and is now down to a size 12 I believe, she eats well, salads whenever we went through a drive in, or something else healthy. She walks now every day and does Tai Kwon Do, which really helps. The laziness has to stop though, thats the BIGGEST reason people get obese, and STAY obese. I've never had weight problems myself, but just watching her when I travel with her makes me think its hard - but not that hard. Today, in Detroit when I was flying back here, this obese woman rode a cart a grand total of 15 fucking feet. From A27 to A29. I just stood and laughed it was so pathetic.
It makes me so angry, when I see my neighbor drive thirty feet to our community mailbox and back. She is perfectly capable of walking down to the mailbox, but she's too lazy to do it! All my neighbors do this, and guess what? They're almost ALL overweight. I know I'm rather skinny for America, (I'm a male and can wear size 14/15 womens) but it just doesn't seem THAT hard to walk down the the mailbox and back.
Being down in the south for the past week and a half I noticed something; there are a lot more overweight people in the South. The only things I can see being the reason for this is the major increase of drive-through food and such. They even have drive-through liquor stores down there now, its sickening. Down in the neighborhood I was staying in, 4/5 of the men were obese, and the only one who wasn't walked 2-3 times a day. I know this could have to do with different genetics then where I'm used to, or maybe that I was out a lot more, but I noticed a major increase. Height I noticed too, around here in Kansas City I'm used to people being 5'11" - 6'2" or more (myself being 6'4), but down in Kentucky everyone was under 5'9" or so it seemed to me.

...and we now have the smoking gun weighing in on the Borat lawsuit (at least in the case of the frat boys).

Food banks have less to work with, struggle to meet holiday demand
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/...ks_x.htm?csp=1
The nation's food banks are scrambling to serve a growing demand for help during the holidays at a time when government food donations and private cash contributions have fallen.
More people are asking for food even as the amount of government commodities available — milk, cheese, canned goods and other staples — is down 55% from 2005, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. A second USDA program of emergency food aid has stayed about the same. Together, they supply about one-fourth of what food banks give away.
USDA buys fewer commodities when it has less need to boost farm prices. It gives 80% of purchases to America's Second Harvest, a network of more than 200 food banks.
The loss of USDA commodities is "huge," says Paul Ash of the San Francisco Food Bank. He says his group is increasing visits to stores to pick up food with "sell by" dates about to expire.
Ash says the Bay Area's cost of living is forcing more low-income workers to seek help. He has managed to increase his holiday distribution 35% this year but says that remains "far short" of the need.
High rents have increased demand in Hawaii, doubling it in some areas, says Dick Grimm, president of Hawaii Foodbank.
Demand is up 34% from two years ago in the Dallas area, says Colleen Brinkmann of the North Texas Food Bank, and 39% from five years ago in Washington, D.C., and its suburbs, says Brian Smith of the Capital Area Food Bank.
"We have a lot of empty racks in our warehouse. That's unusual," says Carey Miller of the Food Bank of Iowa.
Despite reports of higher demand, a USDA report last week said the number of people who couldn't put food on the table at least part of the year fell in 2005 to 35 million, down from 38 million in 2004. It was the first decline in six years. But the report found the number of those worst off increased slightly.
High fuel prices this year have hurt many low-wage earners by forcing them to choose between heating their homes or buying food, says Maura Daly of America's Second Harvest.
Daly says the network is trying to expand programs, relying partly on a 3% rise this year in private food donations. She says financial donations this year are down 9% from 2005, not counting relief funds received after Hurricane Katrina.
"Every food bank will tell you," she says, "they need more food."
This is the kinda thing the really bothers me about the states. The supposedly wealthiest nation in the world, and they can't even feed their own people.
Also note in the article that is states there has been a steady rise 'over the last six years' in people needing assistance. In other words - since bush took office. Also that recently the number of desperate cases of abject poverty has increased significantly. All that and the article points out funding to the programme has been cut (also again leaving out 'by the bush administration in leui of upper-class tax cuts')
As I mentioned many times previous, America is the ONLY first world nation to have this problem. This sort of thing has almost been eliminated in Europe. You don't see homeless people here - unless they are illegal undocumented blow-ins hiding from the system for some reason. People are protected on all levels. One would think before spending hundreds of billions on a laser system to protect from 1-in-a-million chance of a nuclear missile attack that a country *might* want to make sure its won citizens could eat food and turn on the heat in their own homes. It seems like there is a very big divide, which increases every year, and has recently been making huge leaps, in the haves and have-nots in the states.
With the dolé system in Australia, britian, Ireland, and most parts of Europe and similar systems setup in most Asian and Communist nations, one would think America would work on fixing homelessness, debilitating poverty, health care, and feeding its citizens rather than sending a billion a week to fund an unpopular war.
Of course spending that money helping people doesn't line the pockets of the rich in America...
Sad.

And most body mass index calculators, body fat counting whatever are full of bullshit. According to those things someone needs to strap me to a cot and stick me with an IV because I'm two steps from certain death by starvation, when strangely I am sitting here all fine and alive. The models banned from Madrid Fashion Week had a BMi almost ten points higher then mine, for chrissake. It's just a stupid outdated system that people use because it's fast and easy.

I understand you. According to some of those caclulators, I'm way underweight (clinically anorexic) yet anyone that knows me can tell I'm not anorexic.
By the way, if you're going to stay here, go to the Introduction section and make a thread to introduce yourself.

I guess they didn't plan to stay around. Bang and blame on the subject of Body Mass Indexing. >.<
Can't complain too much though cause I agree with those views.

Oh, this is adorable.
Quick! Everyone! Find articles so we can have a nice "appeal to expertise" didactic little argument.
Look Sternnie boy, Americans are really fucking fat. A quick trip to Texas will confirm that. And yes, our educational system does suck. I know. I went through it.
What I have issue with is your attitude, which is clear as day in your post. "Well, prove me wrong. Everything I have says you're fat and dumb. BUT I'M NOT SAYING THAT ABOUT EVERYONE. Oh yeah, Anericans can't find Canada on the map and we bomb Arabs cuz they're all on a Neo-Con PMS trip."
You clearly see us as this big ignorant hillbilly nation first and as individuals second and you support your stereotypes with some sensationalist Reuters articles (cuz we can all trust the media) as "primary sources."
Observe. Flip the coin.
Oh, well, we don't have to listen to the Irish. They're too busy being a bunch of drunken, ignorant car bombers who's only contribution to human culture is too fight and die for pointless little political and religious skirmishes and die in potato famines. Just like these articles that I found on-line say.
But, of course, I don't mean that about all of you.
Fact. We didn't all vote for Bush. Fact. We didn't all want to go to war. Fact. We teach our kids not to eat greasy fast food. Fact. Those of us that try to learn, do. Those of us that don't try, don't. Fact. You've only got one very specific image of what America is. Fact. We're not all bible thumping cheeseburger divorcees from the midwest.
Yes, I see the irony in that.
Still, climb off your high horse. Or, y'know, don't. Continue your ignorant argument about how ignorant we are.
San Francisco liberal.

America... land of the free home of the brave... save for the fact we dont give a damn about our own citizens.... cost of living in this country is insane, wages are unbearably low, and health care is non existant for 50% of americans.... If we would make a serious effort to provide education to everyone (I'd be in college if I could afford it). Provide health care to EVERYONE (save *TRILLIONS* in health care costs over the lifetime of current americans). and kill free trade agreements that make rich lazy slobs get richer and let them keep screwing the average american out of a job.... then this country would be damn good again. Aside from the fact the entire world hates us because GW Bush went mad and decided to invate Iraq (though they did have chemical weapons....) I really dont see why EVERYONE hates us...

This is a scary time to be an American.
We believe, y'know. That's one of the things that tends to seperate us from people of other cultures. The English/Irish/Italian/Dutch/Trinidadian/Mexicans/Noo Yawkers that I've met have a much healthier attitude towards where they come from. There, where you come from is only as important as you want it to be, and they tend to look more askance at blind nepotism.
Here, we believe like it's a religion. And the foundations that we have are actually pretty good. Life, liberty, pursuit of whatever-the-fuck. Yes, you can be tedious and point out that the rules were written by a bunch of Honkey slaveowners, but if you can't see the merit in the basic beliefs then your righteous indignation has overrode your humanity.
I'm sitting in the ghetto right now. This is the hundredth ghetto that I've been in, and all you have to do is look around and see how much we still need to do to get where we need to be.
But the towers fell down and people were scared and they believed anything simple and comforting and now when you ask what the hell that "Support Our Troops" bumper sticker means on your neighbor's car you better be prepared to be called a co-conspirator.

Well... people question everything... "magic bullet" "faked moon landings" for some reason people want to discount the US.... I still say its just because we're the most well known nation in the world... though thankfully there are still places in this world that dont know of the stupid fights we carry out.... or how we've commercialized violence and intolerance.... Unfortunately these same groups have wars over stolen livestock, etc... and even though they have their own languages and rarely wear clothes.... they still sometimes end up with shirts that have logos on them... and can get AK-47s.... tis a tangled web we weave....

America - home of guns and drugs. The leading industries with the most lobbyists in congress - the defence and pharmcudical industry. How do they deal with competition? A war on drugs and a war on terror, supporting both of the largest industries with the most influence in congress.
Of course both take a back seat to big oil. They by far throw around the most loot.
That being said, is it any wonder that america has the most people in prison, the biggest and most expensive army, plus the largest medical bills?
It amazes me a country that can spend billions a day on a war no one wants can't even get books to every student in the public schools. It can't keep schools in some districts open on cold days because they cant afford the heating. They have no health care for over 1/3rd of the people there, but yet they can find money to go off invading nationals and even opening 'a new front' in African nations like Somolia when their troops and funding are supposedly stretched to the max in Iraq.
Goes to show where the priorities lie with those in power. If they can find a way to funnel billions more at a time they said there was nothing more to give yet at the same time public schools are selling candy cars and having bake sales to get the basic items they need to try and teach the children, well it speaks volumes about the society in which those people live and what they value.

Once again, it goes to show what you do not know. What has been committed in the support of the Somalian government has been there the whole time. An ESG has been nearby that area for the past 15 years and the US has supported the partroling of waters off the coast.

OK, well I meant not to post anymore replies in the political area but I have to wiegh in on this one.....haha, well If you travel to the west coast, people are allot thinner.. why....? Probably becuase the weathers allot beter and things are more relaxed. I know because I travel to both sides quite frequently. When I lived out east it was incredible the work ethic.. work 50+ hrs or work 6 days. Don't get any sleep and take a 25min lunch..When your stressed you want to eat..most people anyways its biologic thing and when your so dead tired you don't want to fix a meal or go grocery shop for an hour to buy lettuce and carrots and crap. Especially if your single, then you have no one else to urge you to eating better either. When I moved out west I lost 15lbs in a month because it was 55 F out and sunny compared to being 13 f with three feet of snow.. you can do more outside.. I didn't chnge my eating habbits at all. I also find fault with the cdc's "obese" guidlines to do a true bmi you have to measure with a pincher and find out what your build is like. By the charts my bmi is like thirty.. which means I'm right on the edge of morbid obesity. But, but I workout regularly and have a large frame, I'm 6'2" and wiegh 250lbs.. which is mostly bones and muscle.. (I know the human body is like over 50% water so don't point out that crap to me.) I've also lived abroad, allot and in Aus for the last 2 years. There were heaps of rosy faced chubby poms walking around with cameras with their little pale and chubby obnoxious kids following (pom is a slang word for english person in australia). I also went to catholic schools when public ones in the areas I lived were crap. And beside the whole evolution crap, the teaching was far superior to anything in the public system. For those involved in history should take note that ancient monestaries and the Jesuits used to host schools and tavel to local towns to teach. The monks were also the one of the first to record history and whatnot in books. The theory that "americans are fat, uneducated and obnoxious" is a typical euro attitude. I'd have to say that europe is having a inferiority complex. As far as places that are best to live.. thats all up to opinon. I've been happy in areas where my family and friends weren't and vice versa. As with lots of things in life.. it's all up to interpretation and opinion.
And why CptStern posts this stuff.. Maybe it's to distract people from the problems that his country has. Or he needs to fill some emotional need he can't in real life? Or maybe denial? If you want to educate us stuipid fat americans cpt why not talk about your own country? I'm dieing to know. I just think he likes baiting americans. Euro's have allot of senseless opinions and so called facts they see in us movies and talk shows. I used to say overseas that the Media is a bad ambassodor.
(Iw rote this in like 2 mins so don't whine and pcik on my typing skills.I'm in the middle of moving and phonecalls so I'm a little distracted, but not about my point)

I would probably help if you used standard writing technique. Starting a new paragraph for each subject change during your discussion would make it easier to read.

Ah HA!! I knew it!!!! You couldn't resist!!! Rabid dogs all of you!!! Well most anyways....I wrote a really good piece on a political blog site once about how if it comes down to discussing the topic or someones english skills on the web.. the skills always win out. People will pounce on anyones grammar if they can't argue the point (or more correctly they are only there to argue and demean people anyways). I think I'll run through all the poly blogs and save some of the posts. I could write a really good paper on psychology with all the info I could gather.

Have fun with that.
And it's not the grammer that is the issue. The run-on paragraph makes your post difficult to read.
Now you say I am demeaning you with an argument with a superficial perspective. Presentation is important, espiecially in this type of keyboard conversation/debate. Realize that I am not in the room with you. I do not know where your emphasis is placed or the path your argument is taking me, as would be different than if I heard you speaking aloud. Hence, my 'writing structure' recommendation was to assist in the improvement of your delivery and bring more credibility to your point. How does it add more credibility? More will be inclined to read it.

CptSternn... it is obvious that you care a lot about your views, and that you want other people to change the ways they think about certain things. Fair enough. But I have just finished scanning two CptSternn vs. Gothic.net type threads, and it is obvious that there is something else going on here, too. You said it yourself.

Sheer boredom usually starts the thread, then watching the right wing-nuts get all up in arms and personalise the convo always cheers me up.

Clearly you enjoy the acrimony. The general pattern of your participation in the forum is to start with a perfectly valid point, often backed with serious and relevant sources... but then descend over the course of several exchanges into something else.
What does the prevalence of obesity in the United States have to do with anything? Whether your comments on that topic are true or not is beside the point. What's more important is that your purpose in making them can only be to insult and anger Americans. The other people on the forum sense this. That is why the T word is periodically trotted out to describe you.
No. Socialism is a political-economic philosophy, not a personal ethic of antagonism. To be in ideological opposition to "right-wing nuts" is part of being a socialist. To relish inflicting anguish upon them and making them look stupid is something else.
Generating strife and persuading people to accept a position are incompatible aims. By your own admission, the ordinary response to your polemics is not sympathy, but further entrenchment in the ideas against which you are railing. It must be equally obvious that if indeed there are powers that have an interest in marginalizing your views by casting them as radical, paranoid, and hostile, you are basically providing them with free propaganda services.
Think about it. You have managed to convince yourself that a bunch of goths are in the far right. You couldn't ask for a group with a higher incidence of victimhood ideation. That doesn't strike you as odd? You may be a socialist, but your first cause is not socialism. Otherwise you would not be working diligently against its credibility, all the while raising its flag in perverse mockery.
It's at about this point in the post where we start talking psychology. I know that it always drives me nuts when people try to tell me what I am thinking and why, so I will refrain from working the same insult upon you. For now I will just say that I have observed the same patterns at times in myself and in other people, and I have theories, should you be interested.
About people in general though, I will offer this opinion. When you come to the table with the attitude that you are bringing into this forum, they are right to increase their opposition to you. This is true regardless of their views, your views, and the relative soundness of either. The words that come out of a crusader's mouth may be "social justice" or "level playing field", "moral clarity" or "tolerance". Take your pick, but the meaning behind them is always the same: It shall be understood between us that I and mine are in charge, and you and yours shall submit.
Against this attitude people are always right to stand.

They can use the 'T' word all they want. I was here years before any of these new blow-ins showed up posting in the forums - they show up and call me a troll. Funny.

Actually my views provide a counter point to the current set of propaganda services that are out there. If you look back at most of my threads and arguments, I pointed out problems with the war and what not YEARS before most people hopped on the anti-war band wagon. Same goes for most of the other topics here. I was anti bush before it was the 'cool' thing to be.

Well heres where you missed out on a few threads. A large number of people posting here are actually *not* goth. Now I'm not saying we should bar all non-goths from posting on a gothic forum, but to their own admission, many people here in these very threads have never heard of KMFDM, never wore all black, and prefer current pop music. I'm not saying thats bad, I just pointed this out before that many of those who rally against me here are anti-goths who for some reason like to visit the goth forums and post. We had a large group of khaki pant wearing right wing republicans who were for some time admins on this very forum that loved to bash goths. Some of those types still linger around now.
Thats actually my biggest personal pet peeve - those who would post here that have never been to a proper goth event, don't make regular appearances at their local scene nights, don't dress the part or even like the music - but yet show up here on this forum to post.
In fact, a few have stated they found this forum via Google and the only reason they joined was to blast me because of comments that popped up in a Google search.
What amazes me more is some of these people still post today - just in this forum, and just to post personal attacks on me. Check a few of the more personal posts lambasting me - then check the posters profile and see where else they post on the forums here. You will find they come here JUST to see me. (I feel so loved)

Hey, sweetie. It's Xng. Were you really here before me? I can't recall offhand.
Never mind, it doesn't really matter. Basically, there's not a time-limit on trolling. You can be a newbie or an oldbie and still exhibit trollish behavior.
"a troll is a person who enters an established community such as an online discussion forum and intentionally tries to cause disruption, often in the form of posting messages that are inflammatory, insulting, or off-topic, with the intent of provoking a reaction from others."
(From Wikipedia-- we all know that's not the best research source, but I think it does the job in this particular instance)
Basically, you are deliberately causing disruption with inflammatory and insulting posts. Right? And you're trying to provoke a reaction from all of us right-wing goths, right?

A large number of people posting here are actually *not* goth. Now I'm not saying we should bar all non-goths from posting on a gothic forum, but to their own admission, many people here in these very threads have never heard of KMFDM, never wore all black, and prefer current pop music. I'm not saying thats bad, I just pointed this out before that many of those who rally against me here are anti-goths who for some reason like to visit the goth forums and post. We had a large group of khaki pant wearing right wing republicans who were for some time admins on this very forum that loved to bash goths. Some of those types still linger around now.

I'd be interested in knowing who, exactly, you're referring to, doll. You can't make vague accusations. It's just rude.

A proper Goth event? Don't make appearences at their local scene? Don't dress the part? I didn't realize that Goth had requirements similar to the Catholic church.
Many people show up in this forum to discuss politics. You spend much of your time here spewing forth your political views. Many disagree with your view and offer counterpoint, that is what is needed for debate after all. And several provide clarifying facts in areas where they have more expertise to correct when your fact are wrong.
I have viewed many of these 'attacks' and several have been initiated by you and your inability to accept people who have a different view.

I could list names, or you could browse through previous posts. I don't want to list anyone as that would be considered divulging personal info here, but you know exactly who I am on about.
As far as who was here first, even under my avatar you can see I have years on you. I was here when Daren still ran GNet off his wee box under his desk at his other house.
Which also leads me to counter your statement - trolls can't be founders of a site. I was here before there were even forums installed. Your the blow in. To have to newbie show up and claim the person(s) who have been here for years are all 'trolls' is quite funny.

No, were by no means some official organisation or religion, but the question does arise why would a person with fuck-all interest in the lifestyle waste their time posting to a site where persons there have no common interests with them?
I mean, you don't see me on the 'young republicans', 'pro-war' site or 'VW bug owners' site posting my political beliefs there as the persons there have no similar interests. For the minority collect of persons who have somehow made their way here who aren't into the goth scene and don't read the stories on the main page to post here seems odd.
I don't go around the web posting in every political forum just because it has the prefix 'poltics' in front of it. I stay where there would be persons more inclined to my own tastes, who in this case enjoy the same music, artists, and have visited the same clubs - worldwide.
Anyone else who ends up here who posts and attacks persons who would fit the profile always leave me asking questions like why would THEY be here other than to cause trouble? OR, as we usually find, oggle women in the picture posts. That seems to be a key theme for those who show up to this site, and another goth forum I frequent.
We call 'em 'tourists' in the club, and on other forums. Those button up khaki pants wearing groups of yuppies/jocks/joe soap persons who show up at the club NOT in proper attire and spend all night trying to hit on girls in BDSM outfits and 'convert' them - you know - the ones always asking 'why do you wear all black' and who always at some point throw in the 'you would be so beautiful if you wore this instead...' group.
The fact they find their way to online forums as well is no big surprise. What bothers me is when they decide to jump into discussions with persons they don't relate to, or care for, or would even salute in public if they saw them, but would still try and force their views, online now, on the said scene.

Is it funny? Why? Because you've been caught here lying about your "first hand experiences" when you have no facts to back up your statements or maybe because you were banned under the previous ownership for this death threat:
https://www.gothic.net/boards/showpo...9&postcount=77
Let's also not forget your trollish activities over at Goth.net, which resulted in you being banned from the political forums there:

What's funny Luna called you out on your bullshit. Once you were banned from the politics forum, you had nothing else to contribute to that site.

Well heres where you missed out on a few threads. A large number of people posting here are actually *not* goth.

Just like the liberal members that are actually not democrats, but republicans ( wait, I'm sorry... I forgot to use the activist term: "right wingers!!!!"). And the bisexual members that are actually homophobes. Yes, yes, we've heard this same diatribe from you before and you've made yourself into an idiot with this same line.
Since you want to view the world through a kaleidoscope of stereotypes, let's examine what makes you a stereotypical goth:
Is it your self-proclaimed, be it confusing, ties to Hezbollah? That sounds pretty goth. I know they're happy to have a bisexual male and former owner of a gay club who dresses up in fetish clothing around them when they're in prayer. How about the fact that you traveled to Saudi Arabia? I'm sure their religious police loved your goth outfits and really let you prance around their country like that. Way to bring the scene to the Middle East! Glad to hear you've never had to make compromises for working in the real world. Be sure to get a picture sometime of you at an elections result rally in your gothic attire, since you claim to be an elected politician.
But speaking of real world jobs, didn't you claim to work at a Fortune 500 company? Tell me, Sternn, what did you wear to work on a daily basis? No... let me guess, a pair of:

Oh yes, Khaki pants. I remember that clearly because AlKilYu didn't believe you would wear khaki pants but instead take a picture of some other guy's dick and claim it to be your own.
Once again you're a victim of your own diatribe. And once again you stereotype a group of people based on ignorance. It appears that you are confusing the Gothic Subculture with a Political Party. Sorry, as much as you seem to be thinking Socialism is part of the subculture's ideology, it's not. You may have a stronger case with other subcultures like Punk, but still you'd have a hard time convincing any punk that Johnny Ramone wasn't one just because he was a Republican and said, " God Bless President Bush and God Bless America," and thought of Ronald Regean as his hero.
If you can't tolerate diversity, Sternn, then obviously that's why you're having a hard time fitting in with these Goth sites on the internet. Think long and hard on that one.

That explains a lot right there. You approach politics as though it's a trend or fad. Yes, I'm sure the 10-12 year old bracket is impressed cause you " did it first." When you grow up and have honest convictions, please let us know. We can all start debating in a serious context again.

Oh, that's rich. Are you now claiming to have been a staff member on this site? You never, ever, were. When you tried to approach Darren about becoming a mod here, I remember the numerous jokes that were traded at your expense over that one.
It's funny because quite a few of the people you claim didn't belong here were moderators/staff here at one point or another. Yet you claim you deserve to be here and you were banned, and still would be if a glitch didn't let you back in.
