JoeAverageSF's intro
Hey all. I thought I'd try this one out.
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
Hobbies are just about anything nerd. In particular, I'm a comic book junkie, a RPG fanatic, an avid reader, and a horror movie geek. I also dig clubbing, music, tactical junk, and Italian culture.
As for my job, I'm a field investigator for a private investigation firm. I also write comic books for my own self-publishing company.
2. Where are you from?
Originally I'm from San Francisco, but I now live in Oakland
3. Who is your favorite author?
Garth Ennis
Lawrence Block
Terry Pratchett
Judd Winick
Alan Moore
Joss Whedon
Brian K. Vaughn
James Ellroy
Joe R. Lansdale
Christa Faust
4. What are your favorite films?
Mean Guns
Battle Royale
Black Hawk Down
Big Lebowski
Dawn of the Dead
5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
"Can I have this dance" by Dennis Pavao. Alternately, for the gothic option, the entire Switchblade Symphony catalogue
6. At your funeral?
"Always look on the bright side of life" by Monty Python
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
5 Billion years from now, watching the sun go out, thinking "Not yet"
8. What kind of casket would you want?
Cryogenic stasis.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
Black suit coat with buttons on the lapels, black fitted tee-shirt, black slacks, nice shoes.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Irresponsibility and a greater acceptance of an imaginary life.
11. What's your favorite band?
Nick Cave
Leonard Cohen
Switchblade Symphony
The Reverend Horton Heat
Tom Waits
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
B.A. Criminal Justice.
13. Why did you join?
Because I'm trying to find a gothic newsgroup on the net that is not solely event listings or bickering 14 year olds.
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
Male.

Wow, I love your answer for the seventh question.
Although I believe the Penis Song by Monty Python would be much better for a funeral.
Welcome.
You might find that more than half of the site is quite young, myself being only seventeen; and I would say we are indeed bickering, if I do understand that bickering means arguing, although I don't feel it's shallow or idiotic fourteen-year old arguments.

Welcome.
i think you'll find the selection of 14 year olds here, quite different. There is still bickering, but there is also some intelligent conversation...

Yep. Y'all are right. It's easy to discount the young because of limited life experience, but some of my best friends are bright young things who are very capable people.
Hell, we're sending our kids to Iraq. That'll grow 'em up quick.

I'm cute and small and 14 and you'll soon understand that I'm the one around here with the cake and the silly pictures.
For you, sir, I have really outdone my self this time:

People tend to.
As for the PI stuff, it's not like in the movies, but it's a blast all the same.
thank you for the welcomes.

You know, I'm just about 15, but I argue like a 23 year old
Reverend Horton Heat is great, I love rockabilly.

I'm 23, but I argue like a 15 year old.... sometimes.... other times I just lay the smack down with superior knowledge. At any rate... The PI thing has to be boring as hell 99% of the time, but I'm an attention to detail nut.... If I were to go into a law/investigation career it would be in computer forensics.... talk about tiny details! At any rate the PI joke was just being goofy.... thought you'd laugh since I have a friend that is a mechanical engineer and everybody always goes "woo woo" around him... making fun of one engineer by reminding him of another :-p At any rate.... I still think my PI joke was at least.... worth comment *sighs*

I will always be 14. 14 was the age I came across Rage Against The Machine and life will never be the same.

I forget how old I am, somewhere around 26...
...yeah, because my baby bro's 16...
...and I don't really like to argue because I suck at it. You'd completely kick my ass...
I loved your answer for "preferred way to die" as well...
...and you seem pretty cool so welcome!
(please excuse the fractured thoughts--my mind is on food right now...)

Thank you.
And I'm by no stretch of the imagination clever or spiteful. I just try to be honest about who I am, which usually gives me something that, under dim light, resembles insight.
So, you'd probably "completely kick my ass" at arguments.

You fucking Trekkie...
No, seriously, that's cool. Trekkies rock! (I know... I'm one.)
But seriously, why cryostasis? It would kinda interfere with watching the sun die.

Why cryogenic stasis?
Well, if they haven't invented the immortality upgrade by the time I "temporarily cease biological activity" then stick my ass in the freezer and thaw me out.
It worked so well in Transmetropolitan.

The way I see it, the answer is a mix between cloning and cybernetics. Cloning to create a new me when needed, and cubernetics to transfer all my memories into the new clone. Then I can die, and my clone will take over, and it will be like I never died. IDDQD godmode.

See, I always figured it would be cloning and invasive surgery with some kinda brain mapping on top. Y'know, replace old worn out organs with cloned fresh ones by means of massive surgery and whatnot.
Better yet, y'know.......fuck it. Make me a robot. A big badass gothic robot with rocket launchers in my arm. And a cybernetic jack.
