I am the bassist for my band. I have a Yamaha something bass and a 12 watt amp. The band so far consists of Ben- Vocals, Brendan- Guitar, Cameron- Guitar and I- Bass. We have a sort of drummer called Dave the deffects pedal, but he cancels out my reverb when he plays. As has been said before, getting a drummer is a bitch.

Today we finished our first song apart from drums. It kind of sounds like weird melodic death... I think. If I can figure out how to, I will upload the song to the net (I need instructions). So if you can give some feedback that would be good.

I do vocals and am just now starting to pick up the violin. In the future, I hope to put a very visual, avant garde goth band together (something like The Birthday Party and Oingo Boingo).

I play tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, baritone saxophone, clarinet, and accordian.

I can do death and black metal vocals decently, and have a shitty band called "Penis Penis Penis, I Awake".

We do a cover of Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby entitled "Ice Ice Fetus". So far everyone I've played it for loves it.

I'm a singer currently looking for a band - does that count? *laughs* Anyway, I've been in a few bands before, but the first one was shitty and got dissolved and the second one decided they didn't want a female vocalist at all so they kicked me out and didn't tell me until about four months later

Laughable, really.

I also play the flute, zither (I _think_ that's how it's spelled in English), piano, tin whistle, mouth organ, basic acoustic guitar and a few other folk instruments I don't know the names of in English.

Do you mean Nick Cave's old band?

I want to find someone who plays drums. Something like Satyricon where Satyr does everything and Frost mans the drums. That would be cool.

They were a really cool band, but for some reason, I always start thinking of The Stooges when I play their records. Fun House was considered the best punk album of all time by Nick Cave, so that might have had something to do with it. I'm actually, pleasantly surprised, that people even know of "The Birthday Party". Rock on!

Yayyy! Lead vocals, baby, trying to learn guitar but I don't know how well that's going to go.

Current band: Painbow. Best way to describe it is oldschool punk and OLD OLD OLD A.F.I. screaming, with a little bit of pleasant harmony to appease the gothic alternative love within my soul.

We've somehow found ourselves an unwanted following of fifteen year old scenester girls.

I used to have a band... WAY back in the day. I'm ashamed to say that we sounded like Blink 182. Blech. We only recorded one song. "Fish Guts and Apple Jacks."

THREAD RESURRECTION!!!!

In middle up till high school I was primarily a trumpet player in the school band. I quit when it became less fun (and partly due to the fact that I was starting to see playing the trumpet was not as cool as say the tuba or the trombone).

Since last year I've been practicing my guitar skills, primarily electric though I'm pretty good at acoustic. I mostly play a lot of rock, punk and early 60s stuff. You know, three or four chords. I can also play some of the public domain songs too (Aura Lee, She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain, which my teacher insisted I learn). I've found its a lot more fun to play rhythm than it is lead, because you can lay a really rock-solid foundation and just go wild. For the last month, I've been big into honing my bass skills, which is a lot of fun just groovin to the beat.

Not in a band, but I do participate in a lot church events with a group of other students.

By the way, my guitar is an Epiphone SG Special (black) and the bass is a Carera, which I have no idea about but it plays real solid.

Hey - I didn't know about this thread! Here's my music cv:

My first and last and always instrument is the piano - I've been playing it for about 17 years, on the side I've been learning to play (ranging from best to worst) a little organ, classical guitar, bit of violin, bit of bass guitar, bit of drums & percussion, bit of sax and a bit of flute.

When I was still in school I did many solo performances, accompanied a choir for a year and played at weddings and funerals sort of thing (not much excitement there.) Then after school I did synth and stuff for a couple of rock/alternative bands between 1998-2001 - never was a formal member though. 2001 I did a recording with an "alternative gospel" band, which featured some of my best solo work ever - and in the end it was never released

Wow, Nevan. That's quite a selection! You seem quite talented.

I am primarily a songwriter and vocalist, and have been in a total of 4 bands since the mid 90s. Currently I'm putting together a new Electro Goth band named Hexotericka, but we're just two members at the moment, and getting new band members is like trying to find polar bears in the desert.

You're probably missing a drummer or a basist right? From the little band experience I had I learned that a truly committed drummer or basist is often a rarity.

Heck, I'm looking for an entire band! As I said, we're 2 members at the moment, and we're both vocalists. I can play a bit of guitar, but I'm by no means a professional guitarist. Currently all our musical accompaniment is run from my PC, and that definitely does not make for an exciting live band.

I remember being in a band that gigs. LOL!

I quit the Black Metal band I was in, it just wasn't me anymore and they all wanted to play Death Metal.

I'm mostly in recording bands now, 2nd guitarist and vocalist in a ritual harsh noise band called Androgynous, guitarist and vocalist in a black drone band called Asphyxiation....and eventually, a guitarist and vocalist in a goth band. WOOH! lol

I do prefer experimental guitar, rather than doing it the normal way, I luuurve effects, I make loads. I'm getting a violin bow for christmas too XD! eee! Can't wait.

With my previous band there were so many people who wanted to join up when we didn't need new members, and now that I desperately need band members, there's no sign of anyone!

It's pretty cool that so many people are either in bands or at least trying to start bands.

I'm pretty old, so I've been in a lot of bands over the years. Some of them you may have even heard of. I've done the lead vocalist thing in post punk, new wave, deathrock, gothic and punks bands. Played trumpet in a Tijuana Brass type band, as well as an occasional song here or there. Played keyboards and guitar in a few bands when I've been allowed to.

I'm always writing songs, so quite often I feel the need to "put the old band back together again" and get them recorded.

I'm a bass player and crap lyrics writer. I'm involved in a two man project whose name is pending, but I think we're going to go with Atavism Ball, for just recording songs (seeing as Christian can't play guitar and drums at the same time on a stage. Or anywhere, really). If what we write were to be compaired to something I'd say it's: In a bout of insanity, Rudimentary Peni had sewn themselves to Cinema Strange and while struggling to free themselves they accidently got stuck on Andi Sexgang's earrings.
