Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind. |

DIY/ crafts/ sewing links
Found a site dealing with DIY or making things? Well, share it, then!
My favourite site at the moment is www.theanticraft.com, despite their somewhat confusing ranking system.
Also, check out these sites (posted in this thread):

I just found:
http://sewing.patternreview.com - lots of tips on sewing.
http://savvyseams.com - I like their Tudor Rose bag... *dreams about the day when she'll have enough money to buy proper black silk to sew one*

I wouldn't have minded doing something like that, actually, as long as I was paid to do so. Ach... student life, it's not easy being forced to walk past the stores selling pretty brocade and lace because you can't afford it... lol.

That http://www.gothfashion.info/diy.php site is awesome, Minyaliel. I'm going to have to try some of that. *wracks brain for sewing machine access point*
Another thing you can do if you have a boring and shapeless/over-large dress/shirt that you want to take in around the waist, you can put it on, pinch the fabric into 2 or 3 bunches (I usually do it in the back), pin it there, and then sew the edges of the bunches together. That adds some shape and folds, thus making it more interesting. Or you can take it in at the seams if you don't like the foldy look.

Hey guys??
Is there some link SOMEPLACE that sells those things that I can make my lace chokers out of ?
I am talking those end things with the lobster claw clasp on one end and the chain thing on the other.
Right now I am using VELCRO and it looks downright TACKY and I am NOT going to put these on my website until I can make them RIGHT.
Thanks so much. I hope SOMEONE out there knows which things I am talking about because I need some.

We've got them in several of the local hobby shops in city centre... are you sure there isn't something like that around where you live?

I know Wal-Mart sells those. Or at least everything you need to jury-rig something along those lines.
