What the spork?
A brain piercing sounds rather painful if you ask me. >.<

I reckon you should slice off the cartilage from your face - from the ears and nose.
That'd be pretty extreme, and it would possibly change the way you speak.
And the intermittent flow of blood and mucus would be pretty hardcore...

Ooooh, I like that. Perhaps a set of cheekbone implants to give me the total bleeding skull-like visage.
I'm sure it's totally worth it to permanently destroy my appearance for the sake of subcultural approval and to 'express my uniqueness'. I'm going to get to work on it right away!
Of course, if everyone else starts doing it then I'll have to find something even more extreme.

Get a necklace made of your intestines that comes out of your belly, around your neck, maybe several times, and back in again. I know I'd be shocked if I saw that.

You know, you could always express yourself through poetry or something. I mean it's not so extreme, but... you know. Amputation?

But what's the point if not everyone can see it? Poetry's all well and fine, but people would have to stop and read it before they say "Oh man, that's [insert reaction here]."

Thoughts on reading the initial post:
"Wait... isn't that the... aaaaugh!!
::holds base of skull and performs full-body cringe/shudder::"
Thoughts after reading the rest of the thread:
"Should've known--but hey, people WILL get damn near ANYTHING pierced nowadays, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone actually tried it..."
Hmmm... you should get skull-shaped kneecap implants, and then pierce THOSE with antique door knockers!!

God you actually had me scared for about 5 minutes in shock trying to google the 2 piercings you mentioned. Until 5 minutes later when I scrolled down to read the other posts and found out that he really was joking. I'm ready to believe anything

Guy. The word you're looking for is lobotomy, not piercing.
And I totally want a kidney piercing. >:-D

SO VERY VERY NOT WORK SAFE
[Love At First Bite]
A story that appeared in BME about a couple (Clive and Gillian) who expressed their love by amputating (and biting off) each others finger from the first knuckle.
Quote:
CLIVE:
If you love someone, you want to give something of yourself to them. I don’t think people take that seriously enough, I mean, they say it, but it’s just words... I wanted to show Gillian that I really meant it and it wasn’t just something I’d read on a Hallmark card. Go big or go home you know?
BME:
Why not just give her a promise ring or something?
GILLIAN:
I’m not dating a ring, and I don’t want a ring. I’m dating flesh, and I want flesh to make a commitment to me. What good is a ring to me? It doesn’t really mean anything. I’ve been engaged before — and look where that took me: Nowhere. I wanted this time to be different. Plus, he’s been previously married, and I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t a repeat of that relationship. I told him if he was serious about this, he had to prove it — and that I was willing to do the same.

That's BMEzine.com.
They don't do April Fool's jokes.

If you think that then you need to read their site more carefully.
They've always done April Fool's jokes.

Damn that 5 minute edit limit.
Anyways, as I was saying.. there is a tradition of BME Fool's articles, mainly written by Shannon Larratt.
He says so in his 2006 April Fool's story... incidently, in which he starred as the fool.
Click here for the story of the magnetic fingertips.

Most years I publish an “April Fools” article here on BME (articles like Adding and Subtracting, Joshua, The Raelians, and Love at First Bite). This year I’d like to write about dealing with the aftermath of something arguably foolish instead. As you know, last year I had magnets implanted in my fingertips in order to allow me to sense electromagnetic fields. While I’ve been very happy with them on the sensation end of things, as I left off with the last article, it appeared that one of the magnets had started to break down after its silicone coating was damaged by opening a pickle jar wrong...
|
Shannon, really.. I love your writing, but magnetic implants?! You'd have to know something was going to go wrong. I suppose that it made picking up paperclips easier.
You can also read about them in the [BME Encyclopedia], powered by the incrediable Wiki.
Wiki is God!

Bleh. Regardless, it's a little nauseating.
