A question for Goths in High School - Page 3

high school is really boring
my classes dont challenge me AT ALL
im just glad they have stopped sending me to the counselors because i dress in all black.....ugh
and im happy im not around my old art teacher, who used to harass me

but i find it really frustrating when i walked into borders to buy Dracula, and:
store person "is this for school"
me "...no, im reading this for fun"
store person *blank stare* "um....."
me what?! im not allowed to buy literature to read for fun?!?!

and obviously, i didnt look "goth" enough to make her think "durrr....shes reading Dracula because shes a goth"

but back to Dracula.....it was recommended by a friend, and i really like it

I said that to prove a point, I am not telling you my REAL IQ, because it's irrelevant, believe it is 90. It's just a number, I basically studied for the stupid IQ test, and did retardedly good. True. But in the middle of his "Dirt Roads That Lead Away From Music Highway" recitation well before he gets to Bucksnort Road, he'll begin to sing a muddled children's lullaby and nearing the last verse he'll revert back to the Declination of Eastern Civilization.

Never knowing that he strayed from any set path.

Equating Peek with any semblance of intelligence, in my opinion, is about the same as doing so for the warm CPU a few feet away from me.

He has a unique gift of genius, he has disabilities, but it doesn't deny his genius. How many who can sing a song out of key and terribly can also foil the wits of an oxfordian student?

I'm not a Goth, and I have no problem in school. Nor did I when I considered myself a Goth or a metalhead. Teachers like me, students who have met me like me. Students who haven't met me assume that they won't like me. So it goes.

By the way-- is a 73-year-old any more intelligent than a 43-year-old? A 33-year-old? It would be interesting to see the progression of supposed intelligence.

Things aren't so rough for me. I'm in western Washington, just a little ways south of Seattle, and people are rather accepting here. 'Least the ones I've met. There are occasional sarcastic remarks from my peers, although most come from my non-goth friends, and they're usually confused with emo culture. Which is slightly amusing, yet mostly annoying. Actually, I get harassed for allegedly being emo more than I do for being a goth - the line between the two is very sketchy in the public opinion here. I just shrug it off, mostly. Teachers don't mind my outlandish style of dress at all, I've even been complemented

three people in my school *including myself* were labeled goth, and oddly enough we never refered to ourselves as such. One of us a metal head, im a juggalette with a love of classic literature, and the other a drug addict fashion obsessed female.

we had fun rumours to say the least, apparently we kill people and eat their eyes.

but people would come up to us and praise our fashion choices.

In my school (its a protestant pirivate school), we hafta wear uniforms(uniforms suck so bad),luckily i made sure everyday, without fail, that i wear my black uniform shirts.

In my school it's really bad, it's full of preps who all hate me because I called their leader a plastic, and there are hardly any goths at all, apart from a few random ones in year eleven who I could never go up and talk too. I always get picked on there but I'm dealing with it pretty well, high school is hell. My mates are the only people who don't hate me in that school, and my mates aren't anything like me at all.

I guess it's good if your not me, and I still have fun there sometimes, and it gets intresting as well. A body was found outside out school floating in the Mersey River once, forensic teams and police were everywhere, it was awesome! Someone chucked something at a window and it smashed right through, there are fights on the bus, there are different plays on every year (mainly rubbish ones though, who wants to see a play called gel?) I'm only in year eight and all this has happened, guess it's a talking point.

My school is in Warrington, England and we have horrible uniforms. I hate them so much. I try and rebel against them quite abit, I have loads of badges all over me, some chokers, and awesome skull gloves. I've kind of went on about my problems with the school...oops.

My high school for the goth = living nightmare and good chance of suicide or attempted suicide anyway

It would probably help if you loosened up and didn't worry about whether or not your friends are goth... Art geeks are often fun to talk to, and even (sometimes) the theater people. Check out band, too... There's inevitably at least one musical genius who likes really dark movies and writes music that sounds like it comes from the soul.

I actually thought he was stating a fact... I saw the other "statistics" about how shitty it is, and I thought he was saying that, based on past years, there's a decent chance that someone will kill themselves this year.

It's much more Gothic to eat their eyes while they're still alive and then let them go. A bit more troublesome in the rumor-control department, however.

I moved to a rural town, so the goth kids here think that being 14 and smoking cigarettes at the local mall is the coolest thing to do on a friday night. Its crazy, because a few days before they turn "goth" they're crying because their boyfriend left them and now they think the world is over and being "goth" is the answer. Here, the goth kids take anyone. We have the wanna-be wiccans, satanists and athiest. I had an athiest kid tell me he didn't believe in God, but believed that Adam and Eve started the world..."God" supposibly created them. The satanist talk of how they sacrafice cows...and the wiccans threaten to put "dark spells" on you. I always thought wiccans had the three-fold rule? I'm open to my music, but I'm not into "good Charlotte" or ...whats the ther band the kids scream for here.....oh yes, Evanescense (spell check). They also think that because their goth they have to be pot heads and not do anything with their life. I'm actually in honors, and have been since middle school and recently I started college (even thought I'm a senior in high school). The "little goths" even look up to you, I mean I've had kids come up to me and tell me they were apart of my fan club...I have a cult after me.

But I did love being the only goth kid play sports, it made everything interesting. In volleyball wearing converse with black nails and half black hair, and being on softball my nickname was "osbourne". I only had one coach hold it against me and he told me to not try out for his team, instead I went there and did my best and showed him. He still holds it agasint me even after I quit his team.
