AFI gets my vote. They're the only band on the list that I listen to, and I happen to love them more than anything. I met them back in November and they're still the awesome guys they've always been, even if their music is changing. But there still isn't a thing they've done that I haven't loved, even Decemberunderground which did take a while to get used to. Really I don't care what direction they choose to take, they'll have my support every step of the way.

Marilyn Manson. He's simply a great songwriter. I tend to prefer Rob Zombie, though, because he's more fun.

You know, for the life of me, I can never remember AFI, HIM, or My Chemical Romance. They have just never come up enough that I even remember what songs they have written or performed.
I'd take all of the above on the ones that I have listened to, but the one that probably has to take the cake, in my mind, is Evanescence. Alot of my music is pretty infuriated and fast, the death metal vocals etc. It's nice to take a break every once and while, so throw Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, and Evanescence into a random playlist, and I can go to sleep with that stuff.

Mainstream? Yes. Awesome? Yes. A goth band? I'd say that for certain albums that's still a definite yes.
I like a lot more mainstream bands than have been mentioned in this thread. Sometimes us totally-way-too-cool-for-anything-popular/anticonformist-people really have to face the facts that some bands are popular because they actually do play good music. *Sigh*

No! Cure isn't mainstream! Well, mainstream between goths, yeah  But compare them to My chemical romance, for example! No need to tell which is more mainstream in general- everybody knows!

No no, the Cure is more mainstream than MCR. It's just that MCR has a lot more followers.
This is because there are more teenagers and young adults following MCR than The Cure, but most of them have the same basic style.
Meanwhile, The Cure is famous around an extremely wide spectrum of listeners, even if the quantity of these listeners is not as big as the "teen scene"

Hmmm, My faviorte mainstream band, tough one.
Well I like a few on that list, but my favorite would be Slipknot (never gonna hear the end of this lol)
Their music introduced me to metal.
And I still listen to their music on occasion, but I've moved onto heavier stuff.
If I had to pick a second though, It would be Cradle of Filth.

Yeah... except that "mainstream" is usually used by those not in the mainstream to suggest undeserved or at least inordinate popularity. Legends such as Pink Floyd, Queen, Johnny Cash, etc. don't quite count.

Well yeah, I reckon the Cure most definitely are. They're popular because they're good. But I sort of disagree with Jillian on the point that the Cure doesn't have as many listeners as My Chemical Romance - they probably have way more, only they're not hoards of obsessive young emo kids so people don't really notice them. The Cure also have a lot more long-time fans, which MCR most definitely don't have (since they haven't been around long enough) and never will have considering they're basically just a fad.

My vote goes for My Chemical Romance with marilyn manson in 2nd.
I've loved MCR since their first cd im a bit of a diehard. I'll be A FAN FOREVER.
Even if you dont like their music you must admit Gerard way is beautiful.

=/ I don't really like any of those bands. Could be that I don't follow them - I might like them if I bothered listening. Still not sure if their style would appeal to me, though. I'm kind of tough to penetrate. ... I sort of liked a song by Marilyn Manson once. If I ever get bored enough I may or may not look into more.
I will however admit to liking Avenged Sevenfold, and even listening to them right now.

I just downloaded a few songs that were pretty mainstream. Avril Lavigne is one artist I downloaded. I used to LOVE her music, but I kind of fell out of it. But some of it still isn't too bad.
