Silver and Dust
In a world of dust and water gardens
Where the sun sets only on the death of another year
We grasp at straws and sip at empty glasses
Calling them half full
As we talk about Gods & kings, What was and will be
But dare not speak of what is for fear of knowing
In a world where we would lose our way on lighted paths
Were we not led by blind men
Let slip the sands of time through greedy hands
That grope in the desert for something new to spend
An army lies in wait of dead souls
Set ready to march by dark orders
To kill a king or shoot a star
If only someone would tell them not to
The pendulum of seasons that rise and fall
Sits still on a nation of neverafter
Where cities of silver and dust would be moved to speak, and feel, and love
If only someone would tell them not to

I believe I get the gist of it, though I will have to think on it more. T'was an interesting read. I love the straws and empty glasses bit.

Thanks for the compliments. I don't really fancy myself a more than decent talent, so it's always good to hear anything positive.

Beautiful.
And, I believe that this quote fits well for this thread:
“ Verse is not written, it is bled; Out of the poet's abstract head. Words drip the poem on the page; Out of his grief, delight and rage.”

*grin* Quit being so damn shiny and happy!
Abstract head, as in a mind that "creates art".

Oh, and he is dead. Died at Chicago's O'Hare Airport in 1991. He had also been a nonimated in 1976 for a Nobel Peace Prize for his work with the International Writing Program, which he also founded.

Still, I think he didn't mean abstract necessarily as art, but as in abstractions. I hate abstractions, it's archaic to write that way.
Perhaps he meant art, I'll have to read something of his to see how he wrote.

I never heard of him until 1997. I always liked that quote, though. You could be right, but art isn't a science and has many interpretations.

My first impression of you was the fact that you're like a thorn in someone's arse, but the more I read your obnoxious posts, the more interesting you become.

A lot of "cancerians" are like that, as I am. I avoid confrontation. I am not a fighter, but if pushed far enough, as if cornered, I will lash out ... most likely with acerbic remarks. :}

It most likely ended somewhere along the lines of "being plunged" with a donkey phallus or something. *shrugs*
