Band logo tattoo
Greetings,
I just recently got my first tattoo. It was an old style gothic cross with an evil looking skull in the middle.Reason being is that I love old gothic style crosses and I also love the look of skulls so I combined the two.I got the tattoo on my lower right leg a few inches up from my ankle.I now wanna get another tattoo on on my other leg that symbolizes my love and passion for music. My first idea is the classic Sisters of Mercy logo which I have allways loved. But, I would like look at several different artist/band logos before I make a decision. Does anybody have any other suggestions or band logos that they would get? Any suggestions ,ideas, or links to logos would be greatly apreciated.

Really?
You want someone else's advertisement permanently etched on your body?
Why?

You could not pay me enough, nor is there enough alchohol on this Earth to convince me to get a band tattoo. I think that a tattoo is a very personal idea, however if it means something to you, by all means go for it. Just don't get it because "Ooooo I love (insert band name) sooooo much OMG LOLZ" I remember when the Godsmack sun seemed to be what everybody wanted, and I have seen alot of good coverups. Personally, if I wanted a tattoo that showed my love of music I would get a Les Paul style guitar or a Fender bass, since they are my babies. But, I would never, never, never get a band name. Or a womans name. Just a bad idea, in my opinion.

In my opinion tattoos should mean something personal, but hey, it's your body.

IMO i would never get a band tattoo. My music tastes change every six months. There are bands I though I would love forever, and then they would release something pop-ish...or they would recycle old songs and call it new...or replace 3/4 of their members...or...well, you get the picture
but hey, it's your body.

Haha... that's what I keep asking myself. I have Jack Skellington and The Corpse Bride on my upper left arm and I have yet to receive a "thank you" from Tim Burton!!! :}~

A band, or something fickle like it, isn't a wise choice to keep as a tattoo. Just make sure it's what you want.

Actually, the "name of a woman or man" tattoo, depending on who strikes your fancy is one of the worst things you can do, so that's very sage advice!
One example: Johnny Depp's "Winona Forever" tattoo. After they broke up, he had that changed to "Wino Forever", which I find kind of humorous.

I have known many people who had their wives/girlfriends/lovers names tattooed, and it just winds up being a cluster when things go bad. Even if I were married to a woman for thirty or forty years I don't think I could bring myself to getting their name. I think the only names I would ever get done would be children's, but I'm putting that off as long as I absolutely can.

I agree about "childrens' names" being okay for a tattoo and I also agree about waiting to have kids until you're absolutely sure you are ready!

I don't think I'd get a word tattooed on, but that's just me... I'm more of a picture kind of person. If I got a tattoo I'd probably get a person from one of my favourite paintings or something.
Anyway, I agree that a band logo is a bad thing to get. Tastes change. I'd be reluctant to get anything, really...

Every single person I've ever known and/or spoken to about tattoos say it's a BAD idea to get
A)your gf's or any person's name inked on your person unless of course it's a family member that means worlds to you IE:mom, kids, uncle that was like a father to you...etc.
B)Band names/logos
C)Any media icon/logo/name
Of course, untimately it's your skin, your body, your choice. But really, a tattoo should be something you think about long and hard. And in most cases you end up regretting it unless it (exactly what you're getting put on) has that much meaning to you.
I had wanted tattoos my entire life and when I turned 18 I was pretty jazzed about it, but I didn't actually get my first one until a year ago. (
I'm up to 11 now, coming soon- #12)

My dad got my mom's name tattooed on his ankle. She had him wait over twenty years before she let him get it.

I think that's sweet! Very smart of your mom to make him wait all of those years, too!

I'd only get a band tattoo if it was a band that had lots of meaning to me and was broken up. A member or two would have to be dead or something also. Just so they don't fuck it up and there's no chance of them coming back so I'm not left with some dumbass band's logo on my arm or something.

I guess if I was IN a band, and it was the most amazing band ever and we were famous without becoming corrupt or selling out and my fellow band members were like family to me, then I might consider it...

I have only one band tattoo. It's a winged insect within a circle on the back of my neck. It's very simple and stylised, and I've always liked the image. It's one of the many symbols inside the cover of AFI's Sing the sorrow album. I do absolutley adore AFI, and I very much doubt that I will dislike them, but even if that does come to pass, I will still like the image, as I like the style of it, and also, it is only the image, it doesn't actually say AFI . Only someone who has seen the inside of that album cover would know what it is. I don't think I would ever get a main album cover or enormous band name, that's a bit too obvious for me. Although I have seen some stunning ones.
On the other foot, I do know a guy who has a prodigy tattoo. It does actually say prodigy ( I think it's part of an album cover or something ) and it is on his upper arm. I'm not keen personally but he likes it so ....there we go.

I'd wait for many, many, many years to get a band tattoo. If, after oh, say, 15 years, it's still your favorite band? Then I say go for it.

I'd get a tattoo that symbolised my love for a band, but never the recognisable logo or name of that band. I'm very loyal to all the music I listen to though - I've had the same favourite bands for years, and there's no sign of them changing any time soon.
