Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL.

Sunn o)))

Any fans of sunn o)))?

Ii recently got into them after listening to the colabb album alter.

If anyone has not heard of them they are a metal band, though it is not like metal bands who follow the power or even death polar ends of metal.

I like them, but I wouldn't really call them metal. Some of their stuff is pretty good (White1 or Black One for instance), but most of it just sounds the same. You can claim it's artistic as hell all you want, Mr. O'Malley, but if it makes me fall asleep, I'm still not going to enjoy it.

I've listened to one song by them. If you listen to it loadly with a good stereo this is music you can feel vibrating. I loved it. It created pictures(in my mind) of giang mountains moving and tranforming in the night. (Ok, that sounded very cheesey, but I couldn't find a better way to describe it.)

Well, it's drone-music so what do did you expect?
Anyway, I'd don't recommend falling asleep to something like that. Sleeping to that kind of music is bound to give you dreadful nightmares. :P

And I would most definitly call them metal. Drone metal. Metal is a much more diverse genre that most people give it credit for.

Sure, it's powerful, but begin collecting all of Sunn's music like I did and you'll realize that most of it just sounds the same.

I have to agree with Draconysius, Sunn 0))) gets incredibly boring and repetitive. You can play it loud and hear the notes being played slowly and whatever, but I really don't see how anyone could really listen to a whole album. I mean, downtuned heavily distorted guitar noise is atmospheric for about ten minutes, but then you start to strive for something more... interesting.

About drone, I just heard the craziest "song" ever.
I'll let the link speak for itself.

Haha, that was awesome.

But; that actually had some variety to it, where as Sunn 0))) are just slow notes over and over.

Instrumentally, they're interesting, but it's not music I can listen to for very long.
