Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

You guys should check out Goth Oddity. It's a compilation of awesome goth bands doing covers of Bowie songs. Um... did I mention this already? Goth bands also seem to love the Doors, since there's a goth compilations of covers of them as well: Darken My Fire.

I love David Bowie. That man is just so awesome and diverse, so creative.
Ziggy, Young Americans, Heroes, Scary Monsters, etc.
Besides, he looks so cool on Labyrinth.
I'm gerontophilic for Bowie XD
He has bonus points for appearing on Twin Peaks: Fire walk with me, and as Tesla in The Prestige.

Yes, in fact I own it. I was surprised to see they even had ASF covering Bowie songs. I love David Bowie, listening to him is like a family tradition. He's influenced Bauhaus (at first they considered themselves just another 70s glam rock band, btw)

I just saw D.A. Pennebacker's filming of Bowie's last performance as Ziggy over at the local indie theater. It was awesome seeing it on the big screen, so good.
And as you might guess by my name and icon, I'm a bit obsessed,
Bowie is without a doubt my favorite musician ever.

Who is cooler than Bowie? Nobody.
My favorite album of his is 'Scary Monsters,' and I think a lot of the stuff off of 'Tonight' is sadly underrated. His early '70s stuff is without peer, but a little overplayed. There's nothing like hearing 'Starman' in a club, though!

Good goth I am still obsessed with Bowie. Everything from Space Oddity to Scary Monsters. My favourite tracks are the following:
1. Diamond Dogs
2. Space Oddity
3. Ziggy Stardust
4. Starman
5. All the madmen
6. Panic! In Detriot
7. Andy Warhol
8. Life on Mars?
9. Scary Monsters (and super creeps)
10. Time
Oh and agree, every goth band from Bauhaus to Christian Death to Jim Eerie have cited him as an influence. Major impact on our culture and its music

A girl I recently liked had no idea who David Bowie is.
That helped making it easy to get over her.
In my opinion, anyone that is in a band of any style that branched from rock after 1969 should know David Bowie if they want to be respected!

Bowie is a musical god. I adore The Ziggy album and I listen to Changes over and over again. With Bowie you can can witness a pure genious evolving in front of your eyes. I love his body of work. It's beautiful.

Good goth! Are you kidding? Have you not heard of The Hunger anywhere?
Oh dear. But really, the hunger is the greatest gothic/vampire film of the 80s. Bauhaus, people! And Goth Oddity is still awesome. As mentioned, I love every Bowie album from Space Oddity to Scary Monsters. After that his films dominate the 80s
