A little bit about Death (No, not the Reaper unfortunateley!)

Hail All!
Aye, this is yet another introductionary thread for myself. I have to confess that I'm a notoriously lazy bastard, so apologies if this is a bit thin on the ground. If you want to know anything more though, please reply and I shall tell all...
(Except for my credit card numbers and other such things of course! :-D)
  1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
Heavy/Black/Death/Speed Metal is the primary driving force in my life without a doubt - For me, it is a way of life, as opposed to merely being a style of music. Having said that though, I do listen to a lot of other music as well. Generally, I also do a lot of computer stuff - Including programming, repairs, upgrades, hacking (White-hat) and other such things. Funnily enough, I could easily live without computers...But at the same time there is an awful lot of phun to be had with the things!

Other interests of mine include high velocity travel and sciences, engineering, and railways. The three often merge in one way or another regularly though, as I am a complete out-and-out speed freak and mad scientist kind of person. One of my current projects involves designing a train that is capable of 600mph or more with a view to being used for high-speed services across the United States and other large countries.
As you can well imagine, I am a total crackpot...But at the same time I also try to be a nice and amicable person, too. :-)

Employment-wise, I am currently out of work. However, I do plan to apply for a job with South West Trains at some point soon.

  2. Where are you from?
I hail from Farnborough - A fairly large town in Hampshire, southern England. Although not nearly as big or well known as places such as Birmingham, Farnborough is well known for being the home of British aviation, and hosts a major (Trade and public) air show every other year.

Other than that, the town is the usual mid-size British affair...Average town centre, average social climate, average Council Taxes (Through the roof as always!) and, refreshingly, a slightly less than average Chav problem as they all gravitate towards Aldershot just down the road. :-)

  3. Who is your favorite author?
I have a few...Aside from the obvious inclusion of J.R.R. Tolkien, I'm also a fan of the late David Gemmell, Terry Goodkind, and (Through the film adaptations) Steven King.

I am also watching with interest the front-man of BAL-SAGOTH; Byron A. Roberts - He himself has said that he may release a line of books to fit in with the BAL-SAGOTH sagas, and should that happen I myself will be one of the first in line to buy a copy! :-)

  4. What are your favorite films?
Although I don't watch many films nowadays (I don't have a TV, and my current internet PC is an ancient Pentagram 90 dinosaur!) I do have a few favourites - These being the three Lord of the Rings films (The full, extended versions), All of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre saga (Except for no. 2, which was diabolical!), Underworld, Hackers, and The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy.

  5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Knowing my luck, I don't need to think about this as I'm so unlucky in love, I won't ever meet my Soul-mate! Thinking about it off the bat, I would say possibly "You shook me all night long" - AC/DC.

  6. ...At your funeral?
Without a doubt: To Dethrone the Witch-Queen of Mytos K'unn (The Battle of Blackhelm Vale) by BAL-SAGOTH. >:-)

  7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
I am a rather gory and sadistic person by nature, and also a "wannabe" Viking...So I would sooner die of many mortal wounds sustained in the thick of battle, with my Sword in my hand and the sweet taste of the blood of my enemies mingling with my own upon my lips (Honestly...That's the truth, not a "wannabe Viking" kind of thing!) than through any other method.

Saying that however, if that was not possible my second choice would be being slowly crushed to Death whilst at the controls of a Transrapid or APT-P by the extreme g-forces experienced during accelleration from a standing start to 50,000mph in 300 seconds...

  8. What kind of casket would you want?
Traditional hexagonal design, built of Oak, Ash or (Most appropriately) Yew, with enough room to lay down my corpse, and to lay my finest Sword upon my person - In the method often used in Knights Templair burials.

  9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
Although I do not (Yet) possess one, I do plan to someday buy or create a set of "Legend of Zelda" style (Think Link!) Elven Warrior garb, plus various extras such as a small assortment of short and broad Swords, a short chainmail shirt, Leather baldric, bracers, a Longbow and shafts, and (Naturally) a Claymore of some description.

As for clothes that I currently possess, it's usually a BAL-SAGOTH shirt, black jeans, my full-length leather/studded bracers, and studded gloves. I would add an Ale-horn to that list, but the only place I've been able to get them is at Wacken, and the decent sized ones are always overpriced there! :-(
Before you ask: No, I do not do LARP - Much as I wouldn't mind trying it!

  10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
As my father has worked for the London Underground since 1979, back in the days of British Snail, he and the family have been entitled to a 75% discount off of UK and European rail fares for years. As I have been doing a lot of rail travel over the last ten years or so, that privilege (Indeed, it was a "Priv" pass!) came in very useful for getting around anywhere at any time...And I could even use it to explore the mountains of Scotland and other fair lands on a whim. Sadly though, I started working, and I lost my pass as I was no longer a dependant.

Nowadays I can only afford to get about as far as Milton Keynes on my Young Persons Railcard, so travelling to Scotland or Wales on a regular basis is no longer possible! :-(

  11. What's your favorite band?
As you can imagine from my choice of text formatting throughout this post; BAL-SAGOTH. >:-)

  12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I got through school with 5 GCSEs (I know, crap!), did two years at College, took a few years out, then did another two College years. Over this time, I've majored in unorthadox computing methods, keeping a very tight wallet, and generally not doing much of worth to society...I'm currently languishing in the DSS pool. :-(

  13. Why did you join?
Initially I found a topic on this forum through a Google search, and decided to join so that I could post my tuppence worth into the conversation. I may well hang around if I can make good contributions to any topics, but I can be in the habit of not posting on a forum for many weeks or months. An example of this is the fact that I havn't posted on the UK Rail Forums in at least three months because I've been too busy with other forums and things, and I've also part forgotton about the forum itself! :-O

  14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
Really depends what you mean by that question(!) - Biologically, I am male. Spiritually, I am male (i.e: I don't plan on having a sex-change anytime soon). By sight, I am male from the front and (Often mistaken for a) female from behind. By sexual orientation I am both and neither...Although I will confess that I do appear to have a womans orientation most of the time! :-O
(i.e: I am pretty much bisexual, but the split is 80% homosexual, 20% hetrosexual.)

  15. Do you have a photo?
    Aye, I do...Here it is:

Farewell...

You remind me of my 7th grade science teacher.

That is a very, very good thing.

...I want full-forearm bracers. Bracers are really tough looking.

I only have a 4-row studded bracelet.

If you take a look around eBay and other online places (You could always see what Google turns up! :-) you should be able to find some. Failing that, you could always make your own out of any old leather jacket (Try the Salvation Army shop), a few eye-rivets, and about 2m of Leather cord!
You should be able to find instructions online.

Farewell...

That's actually where I got mine. Lol.

Once I get new boots, I'll probably convert the boots into bracers. That's just how crafty I am.

:O

I like KMFDM more than OOMPH!
Then again, I've only heard the album Gott ist ein Popstar.

Unheilig is awesome. They're my favorite NDH band [second favorite if you count Die Krupps.] followed by KMFDM.

Lol.
I just steal it all. :P

MDFMK is alright. I actually haven't heard too much of them. One or two songs, tops.

Besides, they only put out one album. Lame.

As time draws on, the old man wearies, and becomes accustomed to the stranger, and even smiles at him now, in daily greeting, as the stranger comes closer and closer.
One day, the old man finds himself standing next to the stranger, side by side, and he extends his hand, and in a croaking voice and with closed eyes, speaks: )
