I spent my Sunday well. I went thrift shopping with a friend. I hadn't done that in a while. I found a skirt, two shirts and a patch. I feel tired. I'm not too excited about school tomorrow. Grammy's are on, I don't know it I'll watch.
I've been downloading songs off Kazaa like crazy ever since I installed it recently. Songs I hadn't heard in years are know back in my grasp. It feels great.

I wanna see my friends. I wish the weather would start to cool down more. I want some glittery eyeshadow. Mascara is on sale at my local drugstore. I think I'll get some. I don't usually wear mascara...

Well, tomorrow I go in for my interview with Wal-ly Mart. Woopty Doo  Not that I really want to work there but jobs are so scarce here in Fairbanks, you sometimes have to take what you can get in life. ::sigh::

But on a better note. For friday Ive been invited to a local club's "Gothic" themed UNVALENTINE's day party. There promises to be much debauchery, nudity, a whole hell of alot of leather, velvet, music, a dance DJ, cage-dancing, candlewax????????, chocolate and chains.
What more could you ask for on Valentines?
Not that Ill have the time to go or anything.

Damn that sounds like fun, Icegoblin. I'd make time to attend that. Though if they held one in Perth, I probably wouldn't be able to get in anyway ... the curse of being under-18.

I've been searching around for a job. It's a little tricky for me because I start uni soon, and I've yet to figure out my timetable. But it'll all happen soon ... soon.

Well ... my bird was still alright when I got home. I've named her Daria.
She requires more care than I can give her, so I probably shouldn't have bought a new pet ... I like her, but it hasn't grown into love just yet. She climbs and jumps around her cage to get my attention, and I just can't ignore her. She's so damn hyper-active. Daria needs constant stimulation, but I hope she'll learn to do a few things alone. Otherwise she'll get depressed during the day, when I have to go to my dad's office ... which is where I am at the moment. I left this small radio playing for her, and she seems to enjoy it. It's company, y'know?

I joked to my dad that she'll be able to recite the daily headlines for us when we return home, having heard the same news every hour on the hour for about 8 hours.

Hmm ... but anyway ... I'm probably boring you lot, so I'll end it here.

Been too damn busy to have random thoughts, but yesterday I was approached by honesty, and realized how very much I appreciate it. So let me share an experience with you.

During my daily routine I will usually stop at a coffee house (I have a few I frequent) and one in particular usually has an assortment of nefarious individuals who commonly walk up and down the sidewalk with very little clothing on.

I’m what you might call a people watcher, so from time to time I enjoy drinking my White Chocolate Mocha while sitting in my vehicle and just taking the whole scene in. This particular day I hadn’t been sitting idle longer than five minutes when a young lady approached me and asked if I could give her a ride.

I politely thanked her, said I wasn’t going downtown, and that my name wasn’t John. She probably didn’t get the innuendo or my implications because she said she didn’t need to go downtown, and just wanted to know if I could give her a ‘ride.’ Wink Wink.

No thanks, not interested.

A little while later a man approached me on a bicycle and asked me for a cigarette, for which I gladly gave. He then went on to tell me his problems with his wife (they’d been married for five years) and his struggles with that. His expression suddenly shifted, and he took on the look of a man in need. I’m always amazed by that human capacity, the will to change ones entire demeanor, in a split second and shift into an entirely different mode. I sensed what was coming, I’d heard similar stories before, and was quietly waiting for the bait and hook.

What would it be, I wondered? Did his wife need an operation? Did he perhaps run out of gas and need some change to fill his bike up? (I’ve had that one three times) Did he miss his bus stop and need some money to get home? Did his friend drop him off and forget to pick him up?

“Look, I’m not going to lie to you,” he says to me. Uh-hu I think. “I just need 75 cent to go down to the store and by a beer so I can sit under a shade tree and take it easy.”

What? You gotta be kidding me, did he just say he wanted a fucking beer?

I gave him the 75 cents as requested, and another smoke just for the hell of it. Life was good.

A little later another lady approaches me. I’d seen her walking earlier, and once I watched her get into the passenger’s seat of a sporty new blue car. She walks up and asks for a smoke as well. I’m starting to feel like I should serve on the board of directors for R.J.R. Reynolds, ya know? I give her one, hell I have a whole carton sitting beside me, what kind of man would I be by ignoring the plight of my fellow humans?

“Fucking A, Newports!” she says. Too right, it’s the only thing I’ll wrap my lips around. I don’t say this, of course, because that would be going into dangerous territory. “I started to stop by earlier and ask you for one, but that guy wanted a blow-job.”

I didn’t really know what to say to this, so I didn’t say anything.

“Well, thanks for the cig, gotta get back to work,” and she was gone.

I go back to my Mocha, and the story I’m working on. It’s an experimental piece, and so far I’ve been able to pen an easy grand on it. I pick back up on the last sentence and start typing. Time passes, I finish the coffee, and I do a word count to see where I am. Good, I’d turned out another 500 words. I pick up the jug of Mountain Dew I have sitting on the dashboard, and notice the Happy Little Hooker walking toward me again. It’s been about an hour since she came and bummed a smoke, maybe she was coming back to see if I had something other than tobacco to smoke?

Ah hell, I hate these awkward situations.

“Hey, can I buy another smoke from you?” I see change in her hand.

“No,” and I hand her three cigarettes. Again, I have plenty, and more than anything I’m giving her the unsaid verbalization that she can buy nothing from me, and I’ll buy nothing from her, and life will continue to be great. I don’t know how good she is at hints, but I really hate being rejected, and that means I hate rejecting others as well.

“You sure I can’t pay you for them?”

“Positive.”

She flashes me a smile, and I must admit she is rather cute for a prostitute. Can’t be older than 18, but she’s got some fucked up LandOLakes teeth. Doesn’t seem that stupid either, so I wonder what she’s doing turning tricks. Arms are clean, no track marks, and no bruises. Most of her body is visible, so I’m pretty sure there are no bruises.

“Fucking slow day,” she says.

“You and me both.” I say.

“I’m soo fucking bored.”

“There’s gotta be something to do,” and I cringe as soon as I realized what I just said. I just ventured into that dangerous territory, that place I wouldn’t go to, all by accident.

“Well, there are people to do,” she says, smiling again, but there is no undertone. She understood what I didn’t say earlier, and wouldn’t press me for a trick. That made me feel easier. “I’ve been out for the last hour and all I’ve made is 30 bucks.” At this point she leans into the window and looks at my computer. “You know you’re missing a few keys?”

I didn’t say anything about her missing teeth, and in fact, I’m missing more than a few keys. I’m missing most of my key caps. “Yeah, but I only have a problem when I need to use a symbol, then I have to scratch my head a bit.”

“So what’cha doing, writing a story?”

The lady has an acute sense of perception, and again I wonder why she is out turning tricks.

“Yeah, but I wrote the prostitute story months ago so don’t worry, I’m not putting you in this one.”

She laughs, and a car honks from somewhere behind us. “Well, I gotta get back to work. Thanks for the smokes.” And again, she is gone.

The moral is two out of three ain’t bad. Two people had the good sense of being honest, and the respect I have for that quality is immeasurable. Long live the human race, and I still have much to learn.

couldn't decide if this was more "random" or "whining". you can see which way the coin toss sent me.

someone needs to hunt down whoever the hell it was who woke up one day and said, "you know....chocolate syrup & coca-cola were MADE for each other."

THEN

you need to come find ME & kick me in the ass for thinking in a stupor, "you know....a chocolate coke just might be the 'pick-me-up' i need to get through the rest of the day!" UGH

on a somewhat related note....word to the wise: do NOT let your first half-hearted choice of food (or food-like product) in a good 4 days or so, at least, be a slim jim.

Chocolate Coke ... "Only in America", huh.

You are in the States, right?

..... TStone - congratulations on making the longest post in gothic.net history. You do take the prize, right? I haven't been around *that* long, so I may be wrong ...

I'm halfway through reading it (this damn page took ages to load up, so in that time I decided to read your post), and will endeavour to respond once I have finished.

My random. ...Ok, but first, some background information. I go to my dad's office every weekday, and for half of Saturday as well. I'm given a few tasks every now and then - data-entry, proof-reading, promotional pamphlet writing, etc - in addition to my 'official' duty. Answering the phone. (Oh, and I also do filing ...) Go me, the receptionist.

Anyway, I fielded a 'sales pitch' call today, bringing my grand total to 4. My response to the man who questioned "How many people are employed there?" was "I'm not at liberty to give out that information".

It lead me to think that I've been watching too many movies lately.

Did my taxes last night in a fit of optimism (and penury).

There were over ten thousand dollars in deductions to my Gross Income - which wasn't much - and all I can hope to get back from the gubmint is a lousy twelve hundred.

Now, I'm not mad about handing over my dough to Uncle Spam for a no-interest loan he can abuse to my detriment, but I have to admit a certain twisted annoyance that the loan turned out to be so small. I could use more than that much right now.

Stupid money.

I want more.

*yawn*

Just woke up 10 minutes ago. I have the taste of toothpaste in my mouth from a visit to the bathroom I don't remember. Couldn't have been long ago. My dad punched me awake and then my sister yelled- So that pretty much made me sleep-ish walk to do things I don't remember because I was just pissed off. I don't think I know how to explain. My body is sore from the past week of exercise I'm not used to. I have softball practice today at the highschool. I used to be a pitcher.. now I catch. AND pitch when we have our other catcher there. My legs ache from both-- Not to mention my arms. I want to go back to sleep.. But that's pretty impossible unless I fall asleep in the bathroom again so people dont disturb me. My eyes sting from wearing eyeliner so often now, and the left one is getting puffy and sore. Aw.. fuck.

what's that saying?....."of all the things i've lost, i miss my mind the most"?

people....you have NO idea.

ok, well, maybe not THE most, but it sure is a damned close second. more of a tie, actually.

i would cut off any number of my lesser appendages just to have a third of my old brain power back.

now...i was never einstein or socrates or hawking or anybody. but i used to be pretty fucking quit-witted. used to be one HELL of a problem solver. and damned creative, too.

i'm sick of wearing out my backspace key because i have now apparently taken over the reign of "typo queen", but my a-r/ocd tendencies cause me to constantly correct things. posts that would have once taken me 90 seconds, tops, to type now take me about 5 minutes. at least.

i'm tired of having to stop every few words in a conversation to say, "wtf was i talking about??" or "wait....i completely forgot where i was going with this."

hmmmm....maybe this should have gone in "whining".

whatever.

I do that a bit. Rant on, and somehow manage to talk about something completely irrelevant to what I brought up.

Essays were the worst ... I'd stray from my original point. My English mock-exam sucked ... I thought that I'd figured it all out and I began my argument. By the close of the opening paragraph I had convinced myself of the flip-side's credibility, realizing I didn't have enough evidence to support what I was saying. So then I started over. And, dun dun dun, it happened again ... somehow.

Well, that essay was fucked. My others were alright, luckily.

Random thought: Exactly how many people have the phrase 'You laugh at me because I'm different. I laugh at you because you're all the same' (or words to that effect ) in their signature files, or on their t-shirts?

As I was once told: everyone knows that noncomformists all dress alike, think alike, talk alike, and have the same tastes in music.

Eh, what's worst is when they say that to everyone who makes a comment to them, and then wear the shirt on top of that.

Well life is OK at the moment and Im just fine with that. Even though I havnt heard back from the various job interviews Ive went to, I sure something will come up before spring. Im not in the poor house yet.

The Unvalentines day party I went to on Friday, eeerrrrrr wasnt really my "cup of tea" so to say. The music was just a little too loud for my taste, Ive never really been a big fan of black metal. And besides some people were just pissing me off(Im not going to go into detail, but when I say NO! That means NO!).
I only stayed long enough to see the hot candlewax show(now thats entertainment!!!!!!!) .
All in all Im still in a positive mood and I dont see it breaking anytime soon. 8)
