I barely ever wear all black...

Usually, black hoodie, blue jeans or cargo pants/

Cargo pants are the best. They're a klepto's dream.

I wear black... all the time. Just like most else here, I enjoy how I look in it. I have a slim/athletic build. Black just makes it that much more appealing.

I have ALWAYS looked good in black or gray. White is a little harder for me to pull off, but if I couple it with lots of black, it works well. I'm more about the pattern of the cut and not so much the color.

I tend to like dark dark blue but not navy and dark red. These colors I feel bring out the black much more. My blood red frock just makes the black look more stunning.

Pastels can go to hell. I just look weird in them. Also blue denim can go to hell too. Fuck blue denim.

I would also like to point out that it does separate me from other people who prefer pastels or that kahki and pastel color mix that EVERYONE thinks looks good. Plus, by default, these people generally leave me alone.

One reason to never wear white: My lunch always ends up staining it. What can I say? I'm not the only adult who hasn't mastered the art of eating without a bib.

And for some reason, if I were to wear pastels, it can't be something that makes sense. Say if I were to wear pink or light blue, it would have to be in an interesting fabric. Something like PVC or vinyl. Also, I would use them as florescent colors.

I suppose I just tend to like things that most people wouldn't.

I wear black because I’m lazy. Why bother mixing and matching colors, when you can walk to your cupboard and take out two items of clothing that match perfectly? I just buy black clothing ‘cos it goes with everything else.
Also, I feel very self-conscious when I wear colors. I have a black top with white, dark grey and light grey stars on it...even that is just too bright. I feel it draws unnecessary attention to me.

Hmm... I'm gonna label myself someone that doesn't use labels. How does that sound?

Besides the fact that it looks awesome, It makes outfits a lot easier to put together. xD I also would feel plain without some article of black clothing on.

Talking

I've been wearing black for so long... I'm not really comfortable wearing anything else. I don't really have a good reason, but black is the only thing I can stand to wear. Colors and me don't seem to work anymore

I believe we wear black because of its neutral nature. The gothic culture is based on being introverted, thinking on our own and to ourselves most of the time (obviously, this is not true in all cases).

Its like the association with theatre; stagehands or costumeless shows tend to wear black because of its neutrality and its ability to go where it needs to go to get things done. I believe goths can have that mindset as well.

This is only speculation...I'm aware that 70 percent of "goths" today wear black because they feel they are supposed to.

I would disagree with your last statement. Anyone who calls themselves goths and wears black because "they're supposed to", is missing the point. Having to do something implies that you are conforming and essentially putting forth and effort you don't care to put forth, hence, working.

I'm of the mind to think being a goth shouldn't be work. It should be fun and liberating. It should be something you genuinely feel you want to do or feel it's right for you.

I wear black because it's elegant, and yes I'm a drama geek. Honestly, I think wearing all black all the time is boring. I like to wear mostly black and then something really bright that stands out. Mostly red.

It brings a little order into an otherwise chaotic universe

And it makes it easier to pick out a matching outfit from the jumble of clothes on your floor that you don't have time to put away.

also to those, ive been random and weird all my life

Baby, I wear black because......

Um..... actually....
I'm partially color-blind.
For real.
Black is easier.
I mean, yeah, I mix it up a little.... (MAROON ROCKS!)
but it's easier.

A long black blazer is convenient and for the office, it can cover up any crappy shirt you throw on at 5 a.m., no?

I have a friend who does the same...Although he still messes things up with his socks, sometimes. We rarely see them, so we dont rip him off about it too much. It IS more practical for people in that situation.

Once again, I'm saddened there is no mention of black or grey robots....
