Contacts aren't too bad once you get used to them - I would definitely recommend getting the daily disposable ones though. The permanent ones are a total PITA.

That being said, I only really wear mind for going out - I find that if I try to wear them for work, my eyes dry out very quickly - combination of air conditioning and low blink rate!

How well the contacts work depends on what you get, the sensitivity of your eyes, and the environment... also, how well you treat them of course. I for instance wear contacts but I never have problems with them, aside from the initial ten seconds it takes to adjust upon putting them in. But yeah, pretty scary at first.

As for the makeup dilemma, you might search for some custom frames that won't obscure your cosmetics as much. Or just wear more makeup...

I use bright colors of eyeliner so it's more noticable like bright blue, red, green, purple. I find they show up better than black but thats just my opinion.

If someone already recommended this, sorry, but have you thought of glasses without frames?

I think you can also get plenty of glasses that would look amazing if you wore just a little make up. You just have to find frames that compliment your face. I have a pair of Buddy Holly (emo) glasses and I think I look amazing in them, and others seem to think they look good to, and I have a pair of thin framed bronze glasses that no one has complimented once. Just find a pair that compliment you.

I’m meant to. But I don’t. I hate them. And I’d rather not lose my eyes to shards of glass in the moshpit.

other tips

Another thing to touch upon: When you wear mascara, give it afew minutes to set, so that it won't smudge so much; and wear powder eyeshadow whenever you can. The creme stuff gets all over the lenses at all hours of the day!

I just read about some interesting glasses... this guy decided to fix his lenses to his nose using piercings. Pretty neat eh? The link is below...

I look better with my glasses than I do without, which is interesting, though that may be because I am used to them, and some people have said that I look better without them.

Maybe when I'm a bit older I'll go for contacts.

I'm with you there. My glasses are at this point "me" so it's always weird when people see me without them. I've got a part of contacts too, but I think I look scarier with them in lol.

I'm investing in some John Lennon style shades next month though.

Hm, glasses would seem to get in the way. I wouldn't know, I don't use make-up, though in the future, I can't really say.

I love my glasses. My glasses rock.
My glasses are Bauhaus.
They're slim frames, a very dark burgundy, and smallish oval lenses.

I have been wearing glasses since I was born. Well not exactly, I was fitted with a custom pair around 6 months after I was born. I know glasses suck, believe I know.

Guys, I think LunaWolfe is gone. This thread is old.

Anyways, I have terrible vision, but I wear contacts all the time. My vision is just so bad that if I have to go out, I can't wear glasses, because my peripheral vision will be extremely blurred. If I stay in, I wear my glasses and don't put on make-up at all, so it's not an issue.

I think if you wear glasses though, you should try to keep your eyes basic: Thin eyeliner, mascara, a light shade of eyeshadow, and try to focus more on your mouth to even your face out.

I'm supposed to wear glasses, but I never do. I hate them. I tend to lose them a lot and they probably get damaged. :P
I would prefer contacts.

Mine are pretty expensive, but they last awhile and I can't drive with glasses.

I wear glasses and I take advantage them. I wear more eyeshadow and eyeliner than other people I know and because my glasses are in the way it doesn't look garish. I also like to put grey or black shadow under my eyes to give me that "crawled out of the grave look." But that is another story.

Well I recently stopped wearing my glasses. I found out that I could still do a lot of things even though my vision is impaired. I would rather look nice and have impaired vision then wear my glasses and look geeky with clear vision. Still, I think It takes brass balls to cross a busy street when you can't see properly.

But that’s just me. I like to live on the edge.

Fashion vs. Vision,

If I knew how much my eyes were going to degenerate in the years I would've gone glasses all the way. I have terrible vision right now....

With glasses, I just put on somewhat more makeup than I normally do. Plus, if you mess up, it's less liable to be noticed. =P

Contacts = fun until you get eyeliner in your eyes.

I just posted a new thread about laser surgery I'm going to get.

https://www.gothic.net/boards/showthread.php?t=10258

I hate glasses too. Although they have saved my eyes several times at work. I'll need to remember to wear safety glasses at work all the time.

What makes me mad is most insurance companies consider them cosmetic.. Ok, If they are you won't mind standing in the middle of the road while I drive towards you with my glasses off! ASSHOLES!!

Anyways.. there's my rant.
