...now I'm a little confused, since when is Bauhaus nothing more than a 'prototype' and MCR is actual gothic rock? Still, even if they have it, it's sickening! But, it looks popularity only cares about mainstream music...

Emo/Gothic Rock.
Haha, they know everything about the band members and the discography but they don't know what music they play: Pop-punk.

Lulz.

Yeah, it's disgusting, but REAL goth is and always has been underground. The way I see it, REAL goths make up the REAL scene, so why should baby bats concern us? After all, most of the baby bats don't care when we tell them they're not goth (I wouldn't baby bats to get acquainted with real goth music anyway). Let them grow out of it or into real gothdom.

In a few months, MCR will be forgotten like Good Charlotte and there'll be a lot less goth crap in mainstream stores (hopefully less pirate-themed crap too). So, while this is going on, we real goths can snicker at pages like this and giggle at the kids in Tripp pants and Slipknot hoodies as we walk by, deathawks held high.

Yes, that's what I was thinking after awhile. Though if they knew about Bauhaus they could have at least gave their title of the gothfathers. I didn't even dare search Good Charlotte.
Also, I just saw some of "HEADBANGERS BALL" mainly to see if they have any good bands-and Slipknot comes on, screaming and screaming and screaming with grindcore...but not rap, sounds. Slipknot's REALLY trying hard

Slipknot, Grindcore?
D:
That's worse than calling them Death Metal.

Anywho, Goth was rather mainstream in its hayday. Siouxsie and the Banshees had 13 Top40 hits and Bauhaus had one.

What's so wrong about pirate-themed crap?

What's so wrong about pirate-themed crap?
Those were the non-goth hits. I know it sounds pretentious, but Siouxsie (along with the Cure) recorded hit singles separate from their full albums so they could keep the goth thing going while still having singles.

And pirate-themed crap is wrong because it's a fad! I've seen pirate-themed baby toys! Not only that, but now skulls are becoming lame! When things like skulls and pyramid belts become fashion statements in GAP-imitation-ads, they lose all their coolness.

Yes, I did. He lives in Turkey, so...it's the majority's religion.

I like the pirate stuff! (or at least I like johnny depp) I just don't understand why MCR and all those "make-up bands" have so much info on them. You guys should update the wiki pages of your faverite bands and then I can go look at them. Comprende?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Gerard Way co-appear on the episode of MTV's Subterranean that focused on the Goth culture? You think THIS is sickening, then the fact that they invited him to sit next to Peter Murphy should be enough to make you want to crawl into a hole and die.

Short and simple, I blame MTV.

And about that, they considered bands like MCR and AFI goth? Sure, they showed music videos by The Sisters and Bauhaus, but they mixed it up with commericalized crap like My Chemical Romance with Gerard Way speaking about what he thinks goth is. What Way said is a truly good message, but coming from him and his mainstream band is definetly insulting! And all this while poor 'ol Peter Murphy tried to explain what goth is and its influence. Though the host of the program still saw these "modern" goth bands who rip off the image and aesethic as the real thing! That's unbelieveable.

You mean he made through Peter Murphy's +50 aura of awesomeness!?!

In all seriousness though, that's just sad, wrong, and horribly misguided.

Go to MTV.com, they got playlists or something...they have it sections, or perhaps in YouTube because they have every fucking interview unless it has to do with Viacum XD
