Missing threads

Where did they go? Did Spright get banned, and therefore any threads he created are gone? I'm thinking of the Evolution and insult threads, but more may be missing too.

Yes, Spright was banned, and there are threads from further in the past that, if you follow them serially, you will find missing posts from others what have been banned.

I think that since the ban-ee's (NOT to be confused with the honorable title Banshee ) initial post that starts a thread is still a post, yes, the subsequent thread would disappear too, except in the case of the Newbie thread in the Introduction Forum, where Empty Purple Star's name still appears at the beginning of the thread.

Does anyone else have any information on how this works?

It's called being vaporized, Humane. He's now an unperson.

He finally pushed a few too many buttons, bare minimum. I don't know what he said, but I cen tell he insinuated that someone was a pedophile, have may have slandered others to the point where the admins said "enough". I know I, for one, was sick of his shit. Even though he was on my ignore list, responses to his drivel were outnumbering productive conversations.

If I had to guess, I would say that the final straw was his infantile declaration of war on Gnet ("I am going to lay in to everyone who crosses my path, for no reason" or something like that). Yes, I cheated and read some of his posts, including that one, using the "view post" option.

Spooky... I didn't realize he was banned. It happened with such silence.

I like that...that vaporizing someone here on Gnet happens...silently. Like on the remake of War of the Worlds (with Tom Cruise) where the Martian laser makes people go "poof" with a breeze gently wafting their clothes to the ground.

Gnet should be spooky. People should be made afraid...and be warned to tread carefully by the examples of the...remains...of others.

MWUHAHAHAHA!

But still, what was the specific reason in the end that banned him?

Trolling. Making serious but false claims against long time members.
I read in The Rules somewhere that newbies are advised not to attack long time members.

I think that is why the post count exists next to everyone's name. So that one can recognize who is a long term member and who isn't.

Post count hardly matters as we have seen in the past, and senority does not make right. It does tend to make policy, however, LOL!

That being said, many of the things that I infer that he said were slanderous and some were downright violent. At one point, he said that he would come to my house and slit my throat. While I lend no credability to such statements, it is also explicitly against the rules. That, and ultimately his bullshit outweighed whatever people saw as his contribution.

I thought that that was why the join date is displayed.

I cannot even remember why he said it. I think i gave him shit about his "obvious genius". He has something to prove, but not the mental capacity to do so. But I wasn;t the only one, at any rate, he's gone. *happy snoopy dance*

I never liked Spright. He pushed way too many buttons. He could write a few good things, but he was an arse in most areas. He insulted a lot of people including the goth community (variously) and at times I was truthfully afraid to post in the same board he did. Yet he did put up some interesting philosophical topics, such as atheism and evolution-but he'd still be an asshole to anyone who believed in God. He tried to be preachy and even though he said meaningful things at times, they all resulted in a clash or argument.
Overall, he was a troll.

I have just lost whatever little respect I had for him. That is just idiocy to make such barbaric threats.

No, no, that will never do. If you want to be Spright's successor, you have to try much harder. Try some pointed insults that target specific members of the forum by name, blathering about how you're so smart and everybody else and goths in particular are all idiots, and relentless nitpicking of breathtakingly minor points of language usage, such as the difference between various types of dashes. Add the occasional paranoid Freudian projection, and sprinkle in a few vaguely threatening (or occasionally, explicitly threatening) comments for that added Spright flair.

Example:

"I think God is an awful thing."

All wrong. First of all "I think" makes it sound like you are stating an opinion, and not a self-evident fact on par with a mathematical axiom or empirical observation. "Awful" is also weak, and you are not attacking anybody - just God. Try this:

"You retards are even stupider than I thought if you think there's a God. The only people who believe in God are subhumans with a puddle of shit where their brains should be, like Drake."

Oh! I almost forgot. Make sure that on the topics you have chosen as your proof that you are superior (in Spright's case, the creation-evolution debate and writing), you are mercilessly pedantic, while at the same time making idiotic errors yourself, like claiming that natural selection and evolution have nothing to do with each other, or using words without understanding their meaning accurately.

Never give up. It's hard work, but someday you will have the priviledge of knowing that you are Gnet's new resident fucktard. I believe in you!

And yes, I am kidding. I am taking a free shot at him here, not you.

By the way, out of curiosity, why do you retain the convention of capitalizing proper names, if you do not capitalize elsewhere, Bloopie?

just a style thing really, Drake. i think that capitalizing anything other than names, or metaphors is useless. i mean think about it. what is the real point of capitalizing the beginning of a sentence? we know that the sentence is ended. how does a capital letter help us? a proper name needs capitalization because we need to show it's not a regular noun. like a drake is a male duck as you know. i would not want to confuse anyone.

i don't think i could be such a gigantic bigot. why wasn't this person banned earlier? he sounds like a pedantic asshole.

well, i can provide evidence for things fought in the name of god that have caused massive amounts of death. that's about as good as i can do.

natural selection and evolution do have to deal with each other. how can someone say they don't??

Woo hoo! Sprite's gone; illegal fireworks for everyone!

In all seriousness though, Sprite seemed like he was trying to be 0m3gag0th666. (Or whatever his name was.)

I am Spright. So is Bloopie, but this is really all quite funny. I have many interweb personalities. Bloopie is the kindest of my incarnations. Omegagoth being a milder form of the super spright. The nastiest incarnation hasn't been unleashed yet. But, it's really not important, is it?
