Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

GOOD songs played at the club...
So my localish "goth" club only plays EBM...except after the pit (yes, a mosh pit for an HOUR) they play the "goth" set...well, last night they played a cover of Dead Souls by NIN and a Manson song....however
They played En-Hiver by Cinema Strange.
What songs do they play at your local club that almost make it worth it to go there?

Sucks I wasn't there when they played 'Pagan Lovesong'.
I danced to En Hiver, though. Fun times.

Industrial Xcess.
So yeah. If Manson got played there, there would be problems. I don't even think they'd play NIN...

I'm not old enough to go clubbing yet but the Melbourne goth scene has a number of DJ's who play almost exclusively deathrock and host a deathrock party called 1334. Here's just part of the playlist from its opening night:
Specimen-Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Cinema Strange-Legs and Tarpaulin
Christian Death-Figurative Theater
Hatesex-Unwant
UK Decay-Testament
Siouxsie-Halloween
Bauhaus-In The Flat Field
Alien Sex Fiend-Bone Shaker Baby
Birthday Party-Release The Bats
45 Grave-Evil
Specimen-Syria
Alien Sex Fiend-I Walk The Line
Siouxsie-Happy House
Deep Eynde-Suicide Drive
Sex Gang Children-Mauritia Mayer
The Vanishing-White Walls
45 Grave-Party Time
Christian Death-Spiritual Cramp
Bauhaus-Shes In Parties
Phantom Limbs-Castanetes Cookie
Ausgang-Hots for Christ
Xmal-Qual
Christian Death-Romeo’s Distress
The Creatures-Turn it On
Sisters-Lucretia
Fields of the Nephilim- Laura
P.I.L- Flowers of Romance
Alien Sex Fiend-Dead and Buried
Legendary Pink Dots-Black List
The moment I turn 18, I'm soooooo there.

Haha, recently I became acknowledged with the existence of a gothic club in El Paso.Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait two more months to be able to enter.
The only other club worth mentioning (and only as an object of mockery) was one a friend of mine took me to, saying that I would like it and it's my style. They played nothing but metal.

I wish there was a G00D club here. All they play are old country music songs. And it's not even a club but a barn where all the inbreds go dancing everyone Tuesday and Friday. I'm not even invited anyway. I wish I had actual friends and actual goth clubs around me...Damn

I can't find any clubs in my area, either. Some friends and I are going to Mass next week, I was thinking about checking out some clubs there. Any one know the area, suggest a club?

There is nothing here in my area either. It's heavy metal and pop clubs. More on the pop side. Having checked out all of Iowa in a Google search, there is nothing. <sigh> One new club in my area does advertise 1982 British Punk night on their website.

I LOVE dancing to Combichrist-This Shit Will Fuck You Up. It's on their MySpace page if you've never heard it before.

I could record someone with tourette's and put it to that screaching sound that happens when you connect to the Internet using dial-up and get the same results.

There's only one goth club/ night here, as far as I'm aware of; quoting their web site: "Bands you'll definitively hear at a Dark City night include: Depeche Mode, Covenant, Pixies, Tool, Suede, Garmarna, Placebo, Bauhaus, The Cure, Dead Can Dance, Zeromancer, Apoptygma Berzerk, Nine Inch Nails, Munch, D.A.F., Christian Death, Ministry, Wumpscut, Coil etc." I seriously dislike EBM, it makes me want to kick something, so I've only once considered going (and, in the end, didn't). I might reconsider, but well, when I move down south later this year I'll definitely get to know the clubs in Oslo. From what I've read, the music they play down there is more my cup of tea.

That's why this type of music is referred to as "Electronica," to a degree. I love electronic music and sounds, so it's all starting to make sense, now, isn't it?

Electronic music makes perfect sence and theres absolutly nothing wrong with liking it. Its just Combichrist that I have a problem with. They seem to use vulgar lyrics and loud repeating beats to draw a fanbase and I just don't see how that can count as music. I'm not bashing Combichrist fans, here, because then I'd be bashing most of my friends. I wasn't saying anything bad about you or that you should't listen to Combichrist. If it came across that way then I appoligize.
I may just be pissed because the club near me will play up to ten or more Combichrist songs and almost never plays any classic Goth/Deathrock. They play Cinema Strange every now and again and that I'm happy for.

No biggie. Apparently, I was being a real bitch this morning 'cause your not the only one I've pissed off or been a little too rude to today. My apologies, my apologies. To be perfeclty honest, I wouldn't say I'm a Combichrist fan. I have to like more than one song to consider myself a fan of any group, and this is the only one I really like so far, with it's siren-like sounds and all. :-)

Ok, good. I'm glad to know that I havn't made an enemy which is what I was afraid of.
I'm kinda the same way, but also with merchandise. If I don't own at least one album from a band I won't get/make anything merchandise-wise. There are some exeptions, though. Like my Flesh for Lulu buttons. I know I like them though. Hahaha.
