I have to have surgery on my spine this summer. It's official. It's not that I mind so much the actual surgery or the six month recovery process (I'd probably just waste the six months, anyway), but that at the beginning of all this my parents and everyone else made it sound like I had a choice. Now they're treating more like a child than ever. They keep talking about my quality of life- how do they know I won't be hit by a truck right now that collides through my living room wall? Do they honestly think I'm going to live forever, anyway? I guess it doesn't matter. It's just a pointless rant. Also, my scoliosis specialist looks like Dr. Klopek from "The 'Burbs", has incredibly cold hands, talks in a monotone, and doesn't bother to help with the open back of my hospital gown when he's done whatever it is he does. His assistant was nice, though. He acted like a living human being.

I'm so sorry, Jane! Oh my god- an operation- that's a big deal. I hope you're okay... The hospital is such a horrible place. I *really* hope our back feels better- scoliosis can be painful. You'll probably be glad you got the operation, years down the line and such. But you're so sweet! Sweet people shouldn't be cut open.

And, Mael- girls don't poop. None of us. Ever. It just disappears once it hits a certain place the small intestine- GONE- no poop.

Yeah really Jane. You have no reason to worry, but I will just cause!

Six months, eh? Well I think everyone here would agree that your folks need to get you a laptop if you are gonna be bed ridden for a long time. If not, I'll set up a PayPal account for gothic.net members to chip in and get you one so we won't go that long without you!

I'm so sorry, Jane. Yep, you definately need a lap top. I'd donate to that acct.

Pay pal will issue you an acct without a credit card. You just need a checking account. I've got one, without the credit card.

jane -

i know two people that had to have an operation to correct the curvature of their spine. their choices were - get the surgery to correct the curve or let it be and allow the curve to worsen to the point where their spine would essentially bend and bow until they couldn't walk, lie straight, etc. one girl had it so bad, she was told she would eventually lose mobility of her arms and legs. that girl is a nurse i work with. the other girl is the daughter of an officer at work and she's going through the rehab right now, post-surgery. she's doing ok and she's not in pain.

as for the truck coming through the wall of your living room - you're exactly right. there's no way your doctor or anyone else could predict that happening. if it does, though, my guess is it won't matter whether you have the surgery or not. trucks hurt a lot when they hit you - enough to flat-out squash you if they catch you just right.

for your doctor - next time he's done fishing around back there, let him know - hey, doc, how about closing me up when you're finished? is that what you're gonna do with the surgical incision after you're finished straightening my spine? just leave it open? respect works both ways, mother-f'er. (edited for age)

keep us posted on your progress. and good luck with your parents. i don't know if it's the case there, but parents want to believe they can protect their children against all difficulties. sometimes, when a problem befalls their little one they can't do anything about, they show their worry by fussing the way they used to when their little one was truly little. it's a defense mechanism of sorts - let me take care of all these little things to make it better for my little girl. i don't know if that's the exact case in your house, but it's a natural reaction if it is - even if it is annoying.

You guys are sweet. Heh heh, I don't think the labtop is neccesary- I'll pull myself out of bed once in a while. I would go nuts without all of you ^.^

Edible_eye... you're right about the respect thing, and thanks for the information about the surgery. I know down the road I will probably appreciate the fact that my parents have insurance and stuff to cover the operation, because some people don't even have that. That is, if I don't die prematurely of a freak accident :P

I'm a little happy about one thing short term... No PE next year! Wheee! I get an extra elective, which I'll probably use on an art class.

Since it's been a good, oh, six days without me complaining about school while procrastinating at 3 in the morning, I figured I should do it again. Now. [And yes, six days ago was spring break, it's called exaggeration SARAH. :P] This place is like that girl with the curl in her hair-bear with me. Everything bad about it really fucking sucks, but the one good thing might be great and unique enough to keep me here for three more years. Soooo not looking forward to three more years of a 7:2 girl/straight guy ratio. And to weekly papers. And no parties. And no Robert-TEAR.

Damn and now my ucsb friend just im'ed me, wasted, with my other friend who's going to ucsb next year. I miss them. And I miss parties.

OMG SARAH. Epiphany time! We never have serious conversations because I'm only serious when my brain is exhausted and all the crap I've put off is finally getting to me, and since this always happens in the wee hours of the morning, you're always asleep. It's not because we're heartless assholes, it's because you get more than three hours of sleep at night! [also maybe a little of the heartless asshole thing... dat's cool]

I haven't read recent posts on this thead so to everyone with worse problems than me-I'm sorry.

Jane Pretty..

Speaking as the resident gothic.net guinea pig, if you have any questions about what surgery is like, pm me, im me or even call. Al has my cell number.

I am a veteran of seven plus operations, and if nothing else I can help prepare you for what to expect, and what you can do to make your post op easier.

Let me know ok?

And I agree with E_E, living with Scoleosis is so painful, and if your Neurosurgeon can fix it now, the rest of your life will be so much brighter. Chronic pain is more debilitating than anyone can imagine, and I dont want to see you like that if you can help it.

Let me know if you want to talk before surgery ok sweetie..

Hugs.

O and Gra-knee?

Smoke a bowl. ( Insert supportive words here )

ok.. i've been avoiding posting here for a bit, because i never know what to say..

Fenris, i'm sorry for your loss.. i'm terrible with words at times like this, but i do have a knack for hugs and open ears..

Xnguela, i have a friend just like yours.. unfortunately she will probably never listen.. but thankfully one day her hindsight will be 20/20..

Jane, i hope everything goes well whichever way you decide to go on your surgery... I will burn a prayer for your health ^_^

wolfie, just focus on the no more birth control evar thought and you should pull through totally fine ^_^

Now..
with all of that belatedness covered *gomen nasai!*

the bitchery will ensue..

Some of you know that i have half the fucking city of pphoenix living in my house.. and there are a couple of people i could live without being here...
Today we will discuss the eternal zit upon my ass we shall call IT..
IT belongs to my older brother.. IT is his girlfriend *it will tell you it's his wife though... IT will also tell you IT's a Japanese princess, IT was a Navy Seal and it is a registered nurse.. we both went to school for medical assisting wich is right under an RN.. she couldn't do the homework.. she has trouble helping the babysitting kids who are in kindergarten and first grade with homework O_O no lie...*
ANYWAY..
IT is pregnant out to ----------------------------------------------------------here so it's all moody anyway, tack that onto a mental health file to--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------here
and a mother that is fruitier than a nutcake...
It has been in and out of our lives for the last 4 years and everytime she comes in things get uglier than Elbryan's feet..
there is endless stress and fund expenditure and my brother refuses to get rid of IT..
We can't keeps friends.. she makes everything about her when they're here and spreads lies and rumours behind our backs..
If we have male guests over she will throw herself at them and waits till they leave and starts telling how they hit on her and how they loved her big ass and blue eyes.. i'll give her the charm factor.. but it's on;y valid for about a week.. then comes the rise of the DEMONBEAST...
This is when it shows its true childish, manipulative self centered self..
It is a nassssty hobbitses....
IT makes up stories so people will feel sorry for IT.. me and my parents have to go behind her and tell the truth of things constantly..
My aunt is coming to stay with us next week from north carolina.. normally this would be great, she is my favourite aunt and all.. but my aunt hates IT too.. IT hit on my aunt's girlfriend..and she knows all the stupid antics IT pulls on a regular basis..
It meddles in mine and my parent's personal lives.. It will pick fights between them or try to hog all the attention from my current girlfriend or boyfriend....
i hate her..
my parents hate her...
i wish she would run back to her mommy's house already..
every summer she leaves my brother some kind of fucked up way and goes off to fuck another man... for the whole summer and them comes crawling back when she can't find anyone as good as him *by that i mean willing to support her fat dumb lazy ass*
i wanna run away.. can i stay with one of you guys??

stay with me! stay with me!

I just got suspended for two days. Yay! Apparently they care that I skipped fourth period on st.paddy's day (I'm irish. Asking me not to do anything stupid on st.paddy's day is like asking the pope not to pray.) and havent shown up for *um* any detentions this semester.

And i broke a promise to myself. I always said I would never go to a frat party, but last thursday, Pi Delta Alpha and I got acquainted. A frat boy sewed a misfits patch on my jacket! On a less cheerful note, I got drunk enough to warrant falling off a non-moving motorcycle yup.

and my familial units been arguing again. I ended up calling my friend Jordan and spending the night at his place so I could get some godamn sleep. Plus, my mom's losing her job.

The wonders of life.

Wow, Jade... I'm sorry about IT. I know someone like that, but I don't have to live with her. Good luck to you!

Fenris... interesting, but getting punished is annoying >.< Sorry for the apparant bad luck (My friend got in trouble for wearing a shirt that said "Fuck Me, I'm Irish!" on St.Pat's day...)

And thanks everyone for the support.

I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one who's done that!

It wasn't a suitcase, but other things, and mirrors, and stuff.

Raise your hand if you're completely over everything in the world.

*Raises hand*.

And most of fucking all I hate that I can't speak French for my freaking life, and I've been studying it for 7 fucking years. 7 out of 18 years of my cock-sucking, mother-fucking life... fuuuuuuck all.
