PersephoneX, you live in South Africa don't you? I went there last Christmas and went a few times when I lived in Russia. Where in SA are you? I wanted to pick up Afrikaans and hopefully IsiXhosa, IsiZulu and Setswana but that didn't work out very well. I'm trying to learn now.

Same here. I think I've almost accomplished that. Still working on my Japanese and Russian penmanship though. Don't ever ask me to write you. I'll butcher it! (Damned stroke orders!!!)

Go here and click on ポイント. You can also look up pretty much any kanji and get the stroke order on this site, but actually, after you learn the basic principles you can get about 85% of them right without having checked the character's stroke order first.
There are certain notable exceptions of course, including the enigmatic 飛.

Let us see what pretties I speak.
Latin, Japanese, Spanish (past is sooo confusing in this language) X|, English xD (native tongue), & Navaho (my grandfather on my dad's side native tongue).
As for how many I understand, way too many to count. Basically anything with a latin base (I took it for 4 years and did my SAT 2s in it).

I speak the language of love...does that count? haha
Unfortunately, I don't think my brain is wired to be able to learn languages easily. I would love to learn Spanish and German though.

Molo! Ungubani wena?
I live in the sunny Western Cape, in Cape Town...Famous for Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was encarcerated, Table Mountain, Jackass Penguins, Fynbos and Great White Sharks. I used to live in Port Elizabeth, which is known as the windy city. P.E has a very high Asian population.
Afrikaans is easy, but its a dying language. And fewer people are speaking Xhosa...also, yo have to be careful, because Xhosa people get offended if you speak to them in Tswana, or Zulu and Zulu people are offended if you mistake them for Xhosa. Zulu people tend to find Xhosa people very lazy...

Lol at Drake. Nerdy humour at its best...
My first language is German. I learned Norwegian at the age of five, and English at school. I know a bit of French, having had four years of tuition (I wish I hadn't given it up). I can pronounce, and understand a fair bit of Italian (due to participating in opera and classical song, where this language is prevalent) and Spanish (which I want to learn properly). I also speak a fair bit of Sindarin ("Elvish"). I am trying to learn Scottish (due to not being able to master Irish; the two are similar, and so I'm hoping to be able to learn Irish once I've got a fair grip on Scottish). I can understand and imitate Danish and Swedish (most Norwegian speakers are capable of this), and I can understand Dutch to a certain extent if I concentrate. I'm a language addict...

I don't think "Elvish" is a true language. It's not spoken by any country, nation or otherwise.
As far as being a language junkie- when I was growning up (between the ages of 6- 15) I taught myself a fair bit of Latin and was being taught how to read and write Egyptian heiroglyphs. Take that!

Elvish is defined as a language (two, actually) in the dictionary, just as Esperanto is. Made- up or not, it's still spoken by a bunch of Tolkien fans worldwide. You don't need a country to have a language (example: the saami people of north Norway/ Sweden/ Finnland/ Russia).

Actuallly, the existential quantifiers are needless since I used names and not variables. Woops.

Ah, so we're counting ancient languages?
In that case I also know more Ancient Egyptian than most other people. I've been playing around with hieroglyphs since I was 8. I can also understand written Latin.
