There are two languages that I desire to learn more than any others: Latin and Scots Gaelic.
I want to raise my kids speaking Gaelic, too.

PersephoneX, you live in South Africa don't you? I went there last Christmas and went a few times when I lived in Russia. Where in SA are you? I wanted to pick up Afrikaans and hopefully IsiXhosa, IsiZulu and Setswana but that didn't work out very well. I'm trying to learn now.

Aside from American English, I read and translate French and Italian. I used to speak Russian adequately, but it's been a decade and Russian is not like riding a bike  Hard to pick up again.
I don't really speak any other save some Scots, but that is less Scots Gaelic proper than what it evolved to in heading West through Appalachia. I have been re-learning it, though- and I would recommend the "Teach Yourself" 2 CD set.
