Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL.

Dracula's Ball

Who's ever been to Dracula's Ball? (It may only be confined to Philadelphia, but I'm not sure). Anyway, what types of music are played there?

I've been there quite a few times, and it varies greatly. Obviously, some of the night's music is dictated by what bands are there, and the rest of the night, it's EBM, old/new industrial, a little bit of gothic rock (more at the Ball than at Noc.), and all the other types of music related to the aforementioned genres. I think it can be really really fun, but I don't know if you'd like it, to be honest.

Hmm...I was only wondering because my friend has told me about it, and how much more she liked it than Nocturne.

Its alot better than Nocturne because they have vendors and play a wider variety of music. They could book better bands to play, though. This is why I can't wait for Philly Decay to come into full swing.

He isn't. And is there some kind of grammar/spelling bastardization filter on your computer or is that just the way you type?

P.S. Don't post random, unrelated crap in threads where it doesn't belong. Thanks.

The reason they play what they play is because there's a MUCH bigger audience for it that shows up. If more deathrock/old school goth people showed up, they'd cater to them, but they don't.

That and I'm pretty sure the bands are on Patrick's label, which is that kinda thing.

That's it! Quick, every deathrocker on gnet get together and have unprotected group sex! We must reproduce so our scene will finally get some recognition!

In the spirit of protecting the goth scene from the ravers, I will donate my seed to the cause of preserving goth/death rocker causes.

Haha! "Keep the rave outta my grave! Gimme DEATHROCK you can dance to!" Right on.

And Sarah, I'm not saying that the stuff they play is a bad thing. I'm just voicing my oppinion. If Philly Decay works out and gets a weekly, even monthly thing then fuck Nocturne.

If it did, that would be awesome, though I have to say I'd still love Nocturne and the... Horrible... Music that I... hate... That's played there. [/sarcasm]

In all seriousness I do like Nocturne, just not a lot of the people there. I'm glad I don't play into that scene.

Nocturne brings in alot of bitchy people The ball is much better as far as crowd but one of the groups playing there Life Cried I really dislike. I do hope philly decay becomes fequent we need a place you can go to see some quality death rock in this city.

i actually prefer Nocturne because you don't get those 12-13 year old teeny-boppers coming and wearing waaay too tight shirts (or not enough shirt) and skirts so small that you see what your not suppose to see
