Thanks.

I have actually done the same thing, but over my three year stint in the hell hole of highschool I realized dressing normal is the only thing that is acceptable even if your goodies are on display. I mean, at least you wont shoot up the school if youre normal, right? *sarcasm*
I worked full time my senior year and was too tired after getting off work to get all dressed up, my style has since suffered

Like the rabbit said, the grow out of it, plus...people thinking they're goth has NOTHING to do with you. It's not like you can't listen to your music or dress how you want because they think they're goth.
Don't waste anger on something so asinine.

Yeah, when I was in school, there were tons of emo kids. Some were actually very nice. Some were just following the current trend, and a lot of them fully admitted it.
It certainly had no effect on my swishy skirts and dresses.

Hmmm, my school actually has a uniform but they haven't put any limits on hair or piercing (yet). On civvies days they are usually good about allowing people their styles (so long as they aren't too slutty), but then again I think I am one of two people in our school who are 'goth'. I'd say our teachers are very good about things, considering my religion teacher complimented my "unique sense of dress".The majorities are gangster-wannabes and scene kids, and that's fine, they can do what they want. A lot of the time I get cat-calls and 'It's not Halloween yet!' yelled out behind my back, but I actually find it amusing. Haha, it's quite the self-esteem booster, though they probably don't mean it that way.

I work as a teacher's aid and the kids don't seem to mind my style. They just ask a lot of questions, but it seems that younger kids are more likely to accept peoples differences than the adults controlling their lives.

We have a strict uniform but somehow I’ve gotton away with 4 ear Piercings and half a head of bright red hair. I normally just leave it out so it covers my ears and I wear all black chucks with my black messenger band with all my badges *happy* but I still have to take my nose ring out.

My new highschool has the "as long as you're wearing something" rule. My boyfriend likes it. ;-P

You know what, people in general suck. They really do. This is sort of a rant, but it's school related. People who used to be my friends are now avoiding me because I'm weird. I'm not weird! It's called being an individual. I don't even go too heavy on the make-up. They just cannot seem to handle being seen with someone in a long black skirt and a corset or a wine colored brocade jacket. Why do these imbecilic morons feel the need to hate me because I could never allow myself to wear too tight denim and flowery pink frilly things while standing around giggling at the football jocks?

It's high school. Of course people are going to be immature, superficial, and judgmental. In general people are quick to judge goths on appearance, because, well, we are very visibly different looking. This will continue to a lesser degree as long as you look goth, so it's best to learn to deal with it maturely and with poise now because people will *always* judge based on appearance.

Sorry, I sounded like a total mopey-goth right there. You're correct. People judge by appearance. There's a reason the principal likes to stand next to my group at lunch.

The teachers respect my style, the alternative people in my school are the ones who get the good grades and all the teachers like us. The only teacher who’s given me grief was a geography teacher who didn’t like the fact that instead of naming footballers from Norway, I could name bands…

On the bright side you won't have to be with them while they are near the jocks.

The people at my new school aren't rude to me and they don't hate me...they just kinda pretend I don't exist...I haven't had to say a word in a week, I would try to talk to people in the first week but they didn't answer me...

Well, my school is a bunch of emo people , so people are shocked to see an actual goth. Couple people asked me if I was gothic, and if so, why wasn't I wearing black nail polish? No one really talks to me much though, I guess because they think I'm no different from the emo kids, even though I'm much too bouncy and hyper most to be considered so.

I love Edward Scissorhands. Though Sally and Emily from NBC and Corpse Bride are pretty cool too.

Edward Scissorhands & Corpse Bride made me cry! I still love them though.
Hmm. . . my friends are all strange like me except one. Well, she's really strange but not in a 'goth' way, or whatever. She doesn't avoid me on civvies day even if I dress fun, but I know she's embarrassed haha. I also know she'd beat up people who made fun of me though. So I know she loves me.

It's always nice to have people that will watch your back. And someone else that cries when watching those movies!

It's true! True friends support you, no matter how embarassing they think you are! Really though, she's crazy too, just in a different way.
I think I'm lucky at my school though because I've got my group of friends who stick with me, so even if people were more agressively offended at the way I dress or act, I wouldn't be all alone or anything. People really don't care that much at my school though. I mean, they catcall and talk behind your back, but they don't DO anything.

I had people today talking about my velvet skirt. I only caught little bits, but I heard, "I think it's velvet," and the other girl said, "Oh, that is way too much. That is sooo over the top." It's kind of like, I'll worry about what I wear, and you worry about you. I mean, what's their place to say that my clothes are over the top? It was so pretty though. Really vivid purple. I've gotten catcalls once or twice, but many people don't care
