But no, I do not mind shopping there. I don't go there often, but I don't mind shopping there (at least when they have shoes on sale...yay $10 shoes!). I don't mind shopping at Charlotte Russe or Wal-Mart either. I don't mind buying $300 skirts online from Metamorphose in Japan or $3 skirts from Goodwill.
I buy what I like, regardless of where I've bought it from.

Businesses don't just shoot off in new directions on a whim. As long as the mallgoth crowd is remains large and profitable, Hot Topic won't stray far from its roots. Corporations like Hot Topic don't even pretend to be loyal to anything as abstract as a subculture; they deliver what their customers want. I find nothing wrong with that.

That's a very insightful way of looking at it, actually. But it's simply their target market that makes what they do seem deplorable to many people. But you're right; business is business.
