It shouldn't illegal for the fact that it's a woman's body and she has the right to decide what she wants to do with it.
That and if a woman got r.a.p.e.d I am sure she shouldn't want to keep the child.

Well, to play devil's advocate (and no I'm not picking on you, so please don't even go there.) what about the baby inside the woman? That's his or her body, and it doesn't even get a chance to decide what to do with it.

Some answers I got when I posted the question on FunAdvice:
i dont think it should be crime really cus its up to the women what she does with the unborn , buts its also the mens thought so has anyone thought about making it a crime for knocking these women up as it takes 2 to creat a life it shouldnt all be down to the women. and sometime some women need to have an abortion like if the child bwill sufer all of its life, or it puts the mother in danger, or if the women is *****, or if the parents cant afford to raise the child and so it will lead a poor life, so it shoudlnt be a crime i dont see why people think like that its hard enough if a women gets herself preganant without thinking that if she gets rid of it then she will be punished!!!

It's wrong it should be considered Murder with either a life sentance with out parole or the Death sentance for all involved. God told Isaih in the Bible that He knew him while he was still in the womb. God Basically said in this statement life was present before birth and who are we to contradict God.
******************************
For our Government to impose a law about abortion, they have to separate religion out of it.
I am pro-choice but I do believe there is a certain point in the pregnancy where abortion just becomes criminal and irresponsible. You should know at the first instant of finding out you're pregnant if you want to continue the pregnancy or terminate it.
Some people will argue that it is such a huge decision... all the more reason to already have formed your opinion and plan ahead of time if it were to happen.
For instance if I had an unplanned pregnancy right now I would continue it. Only because I am in a stable relationship and my financial situation is stable.
Now if I had an unplanned pregnancy 2 years ago it would be a completely different story.
Many religions frown upon abortion... fine then don't have them! But let the woman decide on her own, free of religious restraint. Isn't that why she lives in the USA?

The first two were unreadable. The third was nice though.

I like to push women I've just had sex with down a flight of stairs, so she doesn't get pregnant. That way it's an act of God (As I am, quite obviously, God) and not abortion. Every body wins, and I get laid!

I AM on topic! A simple push down the stairs is a simple, cheap alternative to abortion!

This is an excellent article and it illustrates one of the main flaws of the anti-choice(I refuse to call them pro-life) movement; there is no thinking or intellect involved, only emotion and knee-jerk reactions.

I don't think it's really fair to call them anti-choice instead of pro-life. They aren't against choice, they just feel the life of a human is more important.
And yes, I know it's your opinion and you don't have to change it and all that, I'm just putting my two cents in.
I'm sick of disclaimers.

My reasoning is this;
These people don't care about human life unless it's bobbing around inside a uterus. They don't care about the suffering and the future of a woman who would be forced to go through an unwanted or health-jeopardizing pregnancy. They don't care about whether her life will be ruined or not. When it comes right down to it, she is just a vessel for the reproduction of the human species in their eyes and she is not the owner of her own body. It is a viewpoint rooted in misogyny, even when perpetrated by women.
The term "pro-life" also implies that the pro-choice movement must be "pro-death", or "pro-abortion" since it is the opposition. It's a feel-good term and a demonization of the pro-choice movement all in one.

I'm with Nitocris on this one.
I'm almost fully in favor of abortion, so long as it's painless, but I'm still in a quandary:
When does abortion become manslaughter?
The property of having been pulled out of a vagina seems like a very crappy way of defining the line.

Abortion should be legal. I mean as long as it's before the baby begins to develop it's sense, I don't think it should be considered alive. For the first few weeks it's just a glob of cells. It's better for a teenage girl to have an abortion early on, then put her and her babies life in danger having the actual pregnancy. On top of that it's most likely the baby will be born premature and with many problems.

I think it's important to remember that it's not just the stereotypical irresponsible teenaged girls who need access to abortions. It could be me, or you, or any other woman you know. **** happens and birth control sometimes fails.

Well I know that but it doesn't change the fact that the first few weeks it's just a bunch of cells and there are many reasons why an older women might need to have an abortion as well. I mean if you're going to run around making babies and killing them, that's not cool. Though sometimes it's nessescary, no matter what age you are.

All that, and then there's the fact that a large percentage of people who consider themselves "pro-life" also support the death penalty, so hmm...

I was going to say something along those lines as well. The right-wing conservatives only love life...until it leaves the womb - then its societies problem.
I mean, they support the death penalty, war, and shooting abortion doctors.
So kids, your safe until your born. Then make sure you don't grow up to be a doctor, get arrested for one of a list of things which now carries the death penalty, and hope when you are born it's inside of a country that speaks english, else you still may be killed by the same group who fought to keep you alive in the womb.
I also love the fact the right-wing people who fight abortion also fight socialised medicine and welfare systems. So be born, and be forced to live in a card board box living off scraps and hope you don't get sick. The 'care' the right-wing share on this subject begins and ends with another womans uterus.

Bra....vo?
ANYWAY. I used to be VERY pro-life due mostly to being in a Catholic school and having it shoved down my throat. Then, well...I just stopped giving a shit. Now I think it should be legal because I feel it is the womans choice, and sometimes it really is the only option for some. I see it as a necessary evil.

Radical conservatives are ideologues, and tend to follow party agendas out of sense of identity. You could say the same thing about radical liberals.
Agreed with on abortion though, there is a certain degree of insanity behind people advocating the death of people who are performing a public service and obeying the law.

Bravo???
I was never pro-life myself, but I do see it as a necessary evil myself as well. It just seems that if a woman is ***** or she just doesn't have the money to raise a child then abortion is needed. And for some teenagers it's safer than giving birth because giving brith could kill her.

Excuse my double post.
But I do your point there, but technically according to doctors at a certain point the fetus is not considered a human, therefore they don't really have a 'body' to make decisions for per se.

I've noticed a few of you saying "unless she can't pay for it" or "if birth control fails." FUCK THAT.
If you're choosing to have sex, be responsible enough to only have sex when you're ready to handle a kid, because things happen. If you can't afford it, close your fucking legs.
If you can't close your fucking legs, and you get pregnant, give it up for adoption.
See, here's my thing. I am pro-choice. I really am. But I am sick and tired of women using it as an excuse to act like reckless whores. Just because abortion is legal doesn't mean you're free to just get knocked up and suck the baby out. Get a grip.
