MusicFinally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL.
I recommend these stunning gothic metal/doom alums:
Tiamat - Wildhoney
Anathema - The Silent Enigma
Tristania - Widows Weeds
Paradise Lost - Draconian Times
Anathema - Serenades
Primordial - The Gathering Wilderness
Arcane Sun - Arcane Sun
Paradise Lost - Gothic
Katatonia - Dance of December Souls
Novembre - Novembrine Waltz
Empyrium - A Wintersunset
Paradise Lost - Icon
Deinonychus - Ark of Thought
Agalloch - The Mantle (not strictly gothic metal but very doomy & bleak)
Type O Negative - October Rust
This band was a huge influence on Gothic metal, they were the first band to use operatic female vocals on some of their songs (a good example is `Necromantical Screams), which influenced bands such as Paradise Lost, Anathema, and Tiamat !!!.
Another excellent band is Theatres Des Vampires !!!.
'Necromantical Screams' is an outstanding track from 'To Mega Therion'.
Paradise Lost - Icon
Amorphis - Tales from the thousand lakes
The Gathering - Mandylion
Tiamat - Wild Honey
Type'O Negative - Bloody kisses
Cemetary - Black Vanity
Crematory - Just dreaming
My Dying Bride - Turn Loose the swans
Solitude Aeternus - Through the darkest hour
Evol - the saga of the horned king
Atrocity - Calling the rain
Anathema - Serenades
